Great place to see a show! No matter if you are up front or way in the back you can see great! We were towards the front and stuck by a guy who was super obnoxious, taking a million photos of himself and his friends (c'mon how many photos of oneself do you need?), and singing really loud and off key to the artists which caused a nasty glare by me well and not to mention he was jumping around and almost jumped on me which is what really caused the glare and the scolding haha :). With all that said I had an amazing time at the show we attended (Natasha Bedingfield, Andy Grammer, and Kate Voegele). I had not been to a show here in years and forgot how amazing it is to see a concert here. The sound was great and it was almost like being in someones living room with the artist only a few feet away from you! I also loved the fact that even though the show was sold out (from what I heard )they didn't pack you in!! There was a comfortable amount of room left even after everyone entered! Gotta LOVE that! My one and only complaint (besides the obnoxious grown man) was how HOT it was in there...granted the show was on one of the hottest days of the year but OMG I was sweltering! Even the artists commented several times on how hot it was in there. Thankfully Natasha brought a fan out with her and was kind enough to turn it on the crowd so a lot of us were able to cool off (well if you were within a few feet in front of the stage. With all that said I'd do it all over again it was that much fun! Oh and P.S. the bartender lady was super cool and awesome! read more

A classic venue, dark, dingy and always packed for the shows I go to. We strolled in at 9.45 pm on Saturday for Mogwai and they came on at just after 10.00pm, perfect. We managed to stand on the steps stage right which is great for 5.'0 peeps. The wall of sound from the Mogs was great and very very loud, A good time was had from everyone. Bartenders busy and efficient, bouncers, busy and polite. read more

Exactly what I like my music venues to be: a big room, decent sound, friendly guy at the door, cleanish bathrooms, and bottled water for less than it costs at a movie theater. read more

The Exit Inn is one of the places I miss most in Nashville. I have been there at least 15 times and always had a great time. The venue is small but it offers a unique experience. You dont feel like you are 100 miles away from the performer but more like you are part of the show. I have met some cool celebs there as well. I would have to say Lee Ann Womack was the coolest. Oh god..am I name dropping now? She was cool and had the same opinion of the place. If you are a local..I am sure you know how much fun the place can be. Afterwards, stop by cafe cocoa for a bite to eat. Much fun! read more

So many great memories. One of the supremely great music venues in the south. Great shows and simple setup. Drink prices are what you would expect and the staff is always friendly. read more

It's not the premiere place for bands to stop on the way through Nashville like it used to be, but this is still my favorite place to see bands play. Now that they upgraded the sound system (a few years ago, anyway), it sounds great every time, and it's the perfect size venue to go see your favorite band because you're never too far away from the stage. Parking sucks, but you could write that about almost everywhere in Nashville. read more

I like my rock concerts stripped down and up close and personal. The Exit/In is the perfect place for that kind of concert. If there is an up-and-coming or non- mainstream band you want to see live, chances are the Exit/In is the place that will be hosting the show (don't get me wrong, they bring in names you know too but they also take the bands no one else in town will also). It's non-smoking which is fabulous. There are a lot of places to eat and grab a drink before or after any show (and the drink prices inside are great too). read more

Finally saw a show here, Machines Are People Too. I frequent the area a lot and it's always a similar type outside. Great Nashville scene. Super artsy, young, hip crowd and incredible atmosphere. It's humble but classy and offers upstairs seating. Though the bar isn't that high end it's well located so it never feels too crowded and the stage is easy to see from everywhere. And because of the great area (Elliston), there are other places right next door to grab a drink or two (or three or four) before the show. Sound is legit too! And the bouncers/bartenders are super nice and accommodating. read more

A step up from The End across the street but just below the Mercy Lounge. Does that make sense? Tickets can range from $8-15 and the lineup here greatly varies in a good way. I've seen Le Tigre, Sebadoh, Jeff the Brotherhood, The Blow, Pedro the Lion, and Architecture in Helsinki here just to name a few and they were all fantastic shows. Make your way to the front of the stage if you prefer to stand close, grab a seat in the back if your legs need or break, or take a walk upstairs to the balcony (the best, in my opinion). read more

Basic medium size venue. There is an upstairs in the back that you can look out from. It is especially helpful, when realizing you are going to shows that are inhabited with mostly under 21 year olds who want to mosh at the slight hint of volume, it doesn't even matter if the music is moshable. They offer an outside patio for smokers, especially helpful since once you come in the venue you can't come back out. The bar is standard and has a spending minimum of 10$ when using your card. Sound is ok, but once you are near the front that usually goes out the window. read more

I had no clue what to expect upon my arrival at Exit/In, but I was MORE than thrilled when I walked in. Intimate, but not too small or cramped. Larger than High Watt, but smaller than Mercy Lounge, this venue is perfect for rising stars in the Nashville (and beyond) scene. I can't wait to check out another show here! read more

Great staff. Great vibe. Anywhere in the venue is good to watch the band.

Hozier at Exit In. Another great show at an awesome venue. The venue is definitely old school but very good acoustics, decent selection of beer and a tiki bar for the smokers. Nashville's musical heritage. read more

Exit/in is the closest and coolest venue in Nashville. It's quaint and small so seeing an artist that close with the sound quality is an amazing experience. If you have a chance to see an artist here, it is a must see venue!! read more

I love this place. I hear they are not getting as many good shows anymore, but it is really a great venue to catch mid level and solid local acts in the Nashville area. Love the intimate and dark atmosphere of the place. I always stop by this place when I'm back in the ville'. I know its not really the "IT" place anymore but it will always have it's place for me. read more

I hate to give this place a bad review because I love the artists that it books but everyone that works here seems to be in a bad mood and self-righteous. It's a shame to see a music venue with employees like that- read more

Went to one show here to see Devil Makes Three and it seems like the perfect venue for live music. The stage was big and the standing room for audience was HUGE. Even packed this places gives people room to breathe and doesn't seem too over-packed. There's an upstairs room to overlooking the stage. Lots of great acts have performed here. The neighborhood is a fun one with bars and restaurants, vintage stores, etc. I would give some time to venture around. read more

I have seen a lot of shows at the Exit/ In but it is not my favorite place. The room is a good size and the sound is usually good. The bathroom is small for the capacity of the room and is hard to get to if the club is packed. I have found that shows usually start later than advertised and the headliner can go on pretty late on week nights. It also seems that sometimes the bands that are put on the same bill are pretty random and often don't really go together. I only go to this venue if I really like the headliner and they aren't playing anywhere else in Nashville in the near future. read more

This is a very popular venue and a favorite among many. Personally, I've never been a fan. It's pretty much standing room only and it's always dark and dirty feeling. Parking is always a headache here too. They usually have some good names come in here though, and typically they aren't country. Maybe I'm just a venue snob, but I'm not a big fan. read more

Very simple yet awesome venue. There's been a ton of shows I've wanted to see here and not been able to make. I saw William Elliot Whitmore on 4/8 and had an amazing time. Staff was friendly and attentive, even when we were unaware it is cash only (should have thought ahead!). The show itself was wonderful and the crowd wasn't horrible. I will definitely be back to see a show here! read more

EXIT/IN - William Elliott Whitmore - Music Venues Near Me - Nashville, Tennessee

This is one of the best clubs in Nashville for live rock shows. The club is a Nashville institution and deservedly so. I have been to a lot of great concerts at Exit/In over the years. They have a balcony now (that they did not used to have back in the day) which is a great place to watch the show from to get a full view of the band. I also never tire of reading their Wall of Fame board over the bar that is a list of all of the famous bands that have played there. I also like the fact that the drinks are very affordable and they do not try to gouge their patrons. read more

Give it a four for the venue. Its smaller but I've been twice and enjoyed the show. However, the staff could use a lesson in customer service. RUDE. Bartender, RUDE. drink prices are high enough to make me drink prior my visit to the exit/in. There is a great sushi place next door to the exit in. I go there and eat and drink before ;) enjoy your show! read more

Saw a great band here. The drink selections were really good they have the usual hipster PBR tallboys but when I went they had Sierra Nevada IPAs and Barleywines and the like as well. Really nice venue I would be happy to come back here again to see another band. Good stuff! read more

I had my 3rd horrible experience at Exit in last night and I'm never going back. My boyfriend and I both brought 20 bucks cash to see his best friends band play. We brought 5 dollars for the cover and enough to get 2 beers each. We basically wanted to have low key night and not spend much. We were having a great time and walked up to the bar to get our second round of beers. He ordered a miller light and the bartender opened the beer and put it in front him so he started to pull out the money to pay. At that point the bartender said, "it's a 10 dollar minimum". My boyfriend politely said, "no thanks then, I'm good." Then it got ugly quick. The bartender proceeded to tell him that he had to buy the beer and reach the 10 dollar minimum or he would be kicked out immediately. He refused to buy the beer and then we were surrounded by three bouncers to "enforce" kicking us out of the bar. I asked the bartender why he couldn't just ice the beer for a few minutes and sell it to someone else and he said, "No one drinks Miller Light"?!? The whole thing was ridiculous and poorly managed. If I was the owner I would fire everyone on staff and start over. There are too many other great venues in town to put up with this type of treatment as a paying customer. The entitlement and rudeness of the staff seems to be encouraged. I remember going to Exit In back in the day and liking the staff, maybe there is new management? Either way, I will not be back. read more

Awesome intimate venue that has been a springboard for some of America's most successful artist and bands. Just check for yourself and within 10 seconds of arriving outside the names that have played this stage will humble anyone. I hazard to say if you can not identify with any artist out front, then inside above the bar will surely satisfy its nostalgia. If still no names relate to you then you are dead, or have been removed from American Music for last almost 50 years. Venue is intimate, staff is very friendly, and security actually keeps everything safe, and positive so to enjoy your show without disturbance. Bar tenders are alert and quick to get you a refreshment. The music is loud, clear, and how you would want it if you are seeing your favorite band and standing less than 2 feet away from them. Would recommend, and will be back. One addition from years past is the outdoor deck and patio opposite the bar, that you can go out on to relax, and enter back into the venue without ever leaving the property. They also have a good website that is updated all the time with the shows that are coming up so you will not miss your chance to get tickets. Definitely a unique, and true Nashville treasure. read more

If you want to be treated like absolute trash, definitely check this place out. We had an awesome, amazing time in Nashville for my husband's 40th (reviews to follow), but this place was the one and only loser of our trip. I pre-purchaed tickets for the Sept 1 Sam Holz concert. The bouncers/doormen/henchmen let some of us in (the females) without ID's (in San Francisco we don't go out with ID's at 40 but apparently in Nashville they're super strict so beware and bring your ID's) and denied the husbands, only to take their and our money first. They then came inside, lifted the females bodily and threw us all out when one of the husbands called them out for only requiring ID's of the men. These bouncers are the kind of guys who have no power in life so they wield whatever ounce of self-importance they can muster. The ambiance was OK, the drinks were OK, venue would have been fine if the bouncers hadn't been so nasty and stolen our money. Love Nashville and we will be back, but I've never had a worse experience at a bar. Too bad they didn't know who we know in Nashville. If we'd had a good night they would have had a country music legend in their midst. Be careful who you treat like waste matter, you never know! We were sure to pass along to our Nashville friends where NOT to go. read more

What a little gem on Church street. Plenty of nearby options for pre game (or after party). The venue has great sound quality, friendly bar tenders, and most importantly, some fabulous acts in a the best music venue-dive in town. I saw Cee Lo here - he had two great openers and the crowd was super friendly to a gal flying solo. I would definitely come back to catch one of the many recognizable bands who come through here, and I can't wait to catch a discovery act they find. read more

I remember the Exit/In, of the 70's, which was nice and clean, had actual tables and chairs and was the best venue around, for live music. I went back to the Exit/In, in 2011, to see a friend's band play. The owners are disgracing the name of Exit/In. It is an absolute dump. No comfortable place to sit. High stools, on the ground floor, or chairs not high enough to see over the railing, in the balcony. There is a step, where you go onto the main floor, that is just about impossible to see. Good way to sprain an ankle, going down, or trip and fall on your face, going back up. You can smell the bathrooms ten feet away. I had to go, so I did but I was afraid to wash my hands in there, for fear of making them even dirtier. I would rather get a root canal than go back to this place. I wish I hadn't gone, so I could remember it the way it was. read more

One has to remember that when you go to a venue blocks away from a college campus you're admittedly going to be seeing shows with bunch of drunky drunks. We saw Toro Y Moi at this establishment and we may have been the oldest people in the crowd. There were plenty of frat boys and dude-brahs attempting to dance while spilling beer all over themselves. There were a few girls most likely on some 'other' intoxicant because one was waving a stuffed squirrel up front while her blue haired friend humped her and her boyfriend made out on both their necks. And although Toro Y Moi is a little more electronic on his albums, he pretty much killed it with a live band backing him up. As soon as the place filed up the sound seemed better, I certainly left with ears ringing. My boyfriend got a gin and tonic that was $8 and served in a small plastic cup ... um what? At least it was 3/4 gin. Anyway, it's okay for what it is, not the finest place in town and not the worst. read more

I have to be really honest, I've never ever written a bad review for anyone anywhere and I definitely thought about this before doing it, but I'm still very mad about it. My boyfriend and I came out this past Saturday to see a band with some friends. I went in knowing that I was going to pay for the majority of the night. (My bf is awesome and usually wants to take me out, but it was my turn to take him out) as we were leaving, my bf told me his tab was 40 dollars. He had only gotten us one round of beers(two beers). I was in the industry for 14 years. I'm understanding, but this wasn't right. They try and take advantage of people who are drinking. When I approached the bartender about it, he tried to convince us we were wrong because we were "drunk" we definitely weren't drunk. On top of the fact he tried to say my bf was drinking makers and sprite and bought HIM shots(he doesn't drink makers and he definitely wouldn't buy some random dude shots), so he had also been drinking. I'd asked to see my boyfriends tab a few times and the bartender wouldn't show it to me. He finally pulled the money from his tip jar and gave it to us. So not only did he try and rip us off, his judgement was skewed due to him drinking. I wonder how many people he's actually stolen from. We won't be coming back. read more

Went to see Chris Knight. Bought my ticket online from the link on the exit in website. When I got to the door I was told my ticket had already been used. My name was on the list on the wall proving it was my ticket but they refused to help me in any way. The customers in front of me in line had the same issue and were not helped either. They made us purchase additional tickets in order to get in This was a total ripoff. Not the way to run a reputable establishment. Will avoid this place in the future. read more

Fantastic venue for listening to even better bands. Saw Foxy Shazam as well as The Toadies here and the tickets were under 30 for both concerts(cant exactly remember the prices). The sound is great and you can get right up on the stage and literally have the musicians sweat on you. Definitely my main place for seeing shows short notice once I move to Murfreesboro in the spring. Highly recommend. Just a great atmosphere and a plus is the clean bathrooms. read more

I went to see the Melvins shows on July 5th. On their website tickets were listed as "at the door". My intention had been to buy a ticket at the door the night of as I live out of town and have reservations about plastering my credit card data all over the web. When I arrived at 6pm (2 hours before the doors open) on the Exit/In website, it was still listed as "tickets at the door". While waiting in line, the tout told us that they had sold out. NO ADVANCE NOTICE, NO TICKETS HELD OVER. This was quite annoying as I had made a two hour commute to see this band and had assumed that the information on the company website would be reliable. I decided to hang out around outside for a little while to wait for traffic to decongest before taking my long drive home. While waiting, I saw that the management DID have spare tickets, which they were giving to their friends. All in all, the service at Exit/In proved to be both inefficient and nepotistic. Or, to say the least, bad. A band that I loved would have to be playing here for me to consider giving them my business again. The parking also is very cramped. I can only hope my favorite bands book at the highly superior (while still relatively same tier) venue of Mercy Lounge from now on. read more

If anyone is thinking about going to the exit/in in Nashville for concert don't do it. Me and a friend were there for 15 minutes when my friend was dragged out by his arm for allegedly giving alcohol to a minor. We never talked to anyone but each other the entire time. He was not allowed to explain so I went and talked to security and they said that regardless they have to go with security's word. I asked about cameras and they said they wouldn't take the time to check. They also did not attempt to talk to the minor to get the story straight before jumping to conclusions. I politely asked for my money back since I did nothing wrong and I was a paying customer. They said it didn't matter cause they were a private establishment and their are no refunds. When I attempted to leave the guy at the front made another snark comment about "we saw what we saw". I replied ok but you didn't cause it never happened and I left. A whole day wasted. Don't go to the exit/in they were rude from the get go and probably made some excuse to kick us out. read more
