D&D is easily the sleaziest Slumlord in all of Cedar Rapids, if not the entirety of Iowa. If you…read moreleave a negative review on their Google Reviews, they will slander and lie in their response. They are liars. I lived at Maplewood Apartments for 1 1/2 years, and I don't know how I made it that long. When I moved in, 3 burners on the stove didn't work, the garbage disposal didn't work, the air conditioner didn't work, there were no knobs on the bathtub and I had to use pliers, the front window was cracked, and they did not disclose that there was a security light 5 feet directly across from the bedroom window! I was escaping an abusive relationship, so this beggar couldn't be a chooser, and D&D absolutely preyed on that. Additionally, the neighbors were TERRIBLE! The couple living directly above me fought nightly, and he beat the hell out of her on several occasions. I reported to CRPD and D&D, but nobody ever did anything to help that poor woman! Finally, I knew that the carpet would need to be replaced and the 400 sq ft apartment repainted, but never in my wildest dreams would I have thought they would price gouge me TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS to do so. The carpets were saturated with cat piss when I moved in; so much so that I had several guests get nauseous from it. It took myself about a week to quit dry heaving, when I entered the front door, but desperation will make a man do nearly anything. I cannot possibly stress this enough but DO NOT RENT FROM D&D!

The agent called and said since it's in her lease she can't. unbelievable mind you they're charging her rent at a higher amount because of this! Unbelievable, it should cancel and she has better coverage, make that make sense. So ,i will be looking at tenant lawyers for her and see what her options are and if they'll help her out because this company is a joke! I do NOT recommended, save yourself.0 s

His particular apartment has everything ORIGINAL from 22 years ago when the property was built. He has a non-working stove that he literally reported three months ago to the new management. My fiancé has left several voicemails and also a note with no response. Buyer beware. The previous manager Dawn was absolutely fantastic and a phenomenal communicator! Any issue that my fiancé had was fixed that day or the very next morning.

To start off, when I moved in a year and a half ago, they "forgot" to clean/shampoo my carpet before I moved in. So they said they would have somebody come in (after all of my furniture and stuff was moved in and occupying most of the space) and clean my apt since the previous renters were smokers. If I could attach a picture of the refrigerator when I moved in I would to show how disgusting it was. Also, when I moved in I noticed when I ran the dishwasher, the dishes actually came out MORE dirty than when I put them in(all dishwashers in complex are about 20 years old). I put in a maintenance call and they came and said everything 'worked great'. After two more calls about the dishwasher, I finally gave up and handwashed for the remaining year. Before I moved out (got a new job), I gave 45 days notice because I wanted to be as fair as possible. They informed me of the process and I started to clean. I have lived in 5 different apartment/duplex buildings in my life with college and being new out of college; I have NEVER lost ANY of my prior deposits as I come from a home where you have to keep everything SPOTLESS. Since I was unable to be there during the checkout process (because the Management, Jasmine, refused to do any checkouts during the weekend)I had to forfeit my walk-through rights. I wasn't too worried about it at the time because I knew how clean I had made it. UNTIL I received my bill. THEY CHARGED ME $200 FOR EXCESSIVE HOLES AND PAINTING THAT NEEDED TO BE DONE. Not to be rude but that is COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS!!! The last, but definately not the least, most important topic I want to let you know about is the management. When I first moved in, the complex was ran by a nice elderly couple who had worked their for years. The wife was retiring and that is where JASMINE (aka worst property manager ever) comes into the picture. If JASMINE spent half as much time cleaning up the place and working on the property, as she does TRYING to make herself look "sexy", woodcrest might go back to being a nice place to live. All JASMINE cares about is making sure she looks good and making sure all tenants know that she is the boss. She comes from the south, and I guess in the south its okay to RIP PEOPLE OFF WHEN THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. Whatta piece of work. What do you think was her first order of business when she got there??? You guessed it, RAISING THE RENT. I would rather poke my eyes out than rent from her again. She's lucky not many people check up on her management style or customer approval rating because she is horrible. If anybody wants to hear more, you can reach me at 660-651-6052.
