I had rented from Kelly Property Management for 4 years. I always had paid my rent on time and I was surprised they gave me my deposit back. I rented them again which they got me back in than any other properties. If you have bad credit or history they work with you. Yes they start low but it's worth renting from them when no one else would. They aren't strict. Now I see lot of people complaining..if you just pay your rent and your last rent. Keep your apt clean. They will give you a chance when no one else did. I am thankful for Kelly Property. I needed a home quickly and now I can call it a home thanks to Staff and Kelly property. read more

Don't rent from this property management it's has 2 stars for a reason, everyone who works for Kelly property management is rude and disgusting. When I moved into my apartment my rent was $434 for a 1 bedroom, two months later they raised my rent $25, okay no biggie I can can afford $25 extra bucks a months. One month after that they raised it to $755 (WTF) not to mention I'm a single struggling college student trying to make ends meet, there's no way I'm paying $755 a month for 1bd 1 bath. When I asked why rent increased drastically, I was told because they have too many vacancies so thats why rent was raised $300! Like I'm not here to help pay for your vacant properties! Kelley property management is such a SCAM and not to mention the maintenance men goes into your apartment with out your permission and leave your door unlocked and steal your belongings! I rented through Kelley Property at Monarch Estates for over four years and just recently moved out only because I purchased a house. They have been very accommodating, affordable rent, always fixed any problems that would arise, kept the property maintained and clean and gave notice for repairs. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the complex and felt as though it was my first true home. They do a great job screening potential renters and I always felt safe at the property as well. I can never thank them enough for providing me a safe space where my neighbors felt like family. read more

I have been renting from Kelley for 3 summers now. They are very easy to deal with and very help with whatever I need. I stay at willow brook on 33rd and everything is satisfactory. Grounds could be kept up better and a few things updated. But well worth the rent. read more

I'm the kind of person who gets 90% of her security deposit back and pays rent early every month. Avoid this place like the plague. First of all, none of the apartments I looked at in 2013 were particularly nice. They don't have 24 hour maintenance. So when your heat goes out in December (it will) you'll have to drive to Walmart to buy your own heater. They won't reimburse you-they'll tell you to return it. Meanwhile your toilet might malfunction because the valve is so cold. And you'll have to stop your toilet from over flowing in your freezing cold apartment. They'll try to charge you for carpet cleaning (they charge everyone) when you move out even though the lease says you're only responsible if it's beyond "excessive wear and tear." Just, trust me on this one. This place is the worst place I ever lived. read more

I just moved out of a apt managed by this company. I made sure my apt there was left in far better shape then when I moved in. I was once a caretaker in Minnesota so yes I knew how important it is to leave a apt super cleaned. I was a good tenant. always paid my rent before due and followed all rules stated in my lease. I was told yes your apt was very clean. You were a good tenant. The money we took from your deposit we feel justified in taking. I stated the law concerning tenants rights concerning deposit. I took pics before and after my move. I was charged for cleaning the carpet. Basically clean the carpet at my expense for the next tenants they rent to. I was charged 18.95 for cleaning. Are you kidding me? I was charged for a suppose paint touchup. All they could show me was a scuff on a wall I am not positive that pic was my apt. I rented the apt for almost 2 yrs. Since I am a volunteer for the National Forest 4 to 5 months I was not in the apt. After a assignment I would return to my apt, clean and reside. I am in my 70's. I live on social security so yes keeping over 200 dollars of my deposit was alot that Kelly properties took. I went to thier office to dicuss the matter. I was shown picks, showed my pics and finally said okay return the cost your charging me for carpet cleaning and matter closed. A guy comes out of his office and in a very intimating manner claims they are not returning one cent they kept from my deposit. I said Sir carpet cleaning is not a reason to hold deposit concerning IA law. Who rudely goes on he knows the law and what they returned of my deposit stays the same. I said well I guess I must decide small claims court or accept I am just another Kelly property victim. Sir you do know your ratings are really poor. You are known for ripping off folks of thier deposits. We deal with tenants trashing our apts. Sir, obvious that was not the case concerning me. Be happy we gave you back what we did. I shook my head and said you have a good day. I highly recommend stay away from Kelly properties for your housing needs. Oh I could tell more as far as thier property care taking. Definately good experience for me, I rented a duplex for 18 months. Called for maintence related issues 3 times, they responded within 24 hrs. When my pipes froze during last years cold snap they were there within two hrs to repair. Upon vacating i recvd $715 of my $745.00 deposit back..What more can you ask for....I would rent from them again. read more

Take your money and stay away from this rental agency. Don't expect much (if any) of your deposit back. I went in to discuss the deposit issue and hoped we could split the difference over some exaggerated claims. They threatened to take me to court over the $130 difference in numbers. They also left my clogged kitchen sink unfixed for the last three weeks of my lease even thought they were aware of the issue. read more

Stay away from this place! They are scammers! First of all the receptionist is very rude. I had told her about a house that I went to look at to potentially rent that had mold in the basement. Her response is do you want to rent it or not? I ended up renting a different house from them and was told they were needing to replace the carpets soon because they were old and had stains on them that they were aware of. Ended up taking my deposit and charging me to replace the living room and basement carpets. The living room carpets was the one they said they knew they needed to change. They had told me that there was a rust stain in the basement carpet so they had to replace the whole thing. When they showed me the carpet square it was a quarter sized jelly stain from who knows where. I also had spent a lot of time making sure that the house was perfectly cleaned and they charges me for 9hrs of cleaning and 7hrs of painting. They will not do a walk through with you so make sure you take pictures, even though when I brought the pictures in that I took of the house when I moved out, they would not even look at them. They have ruined my credit because of these charges. This place is ridiculous. Make sure you get a copy of all the documents you sign with them because they will not give you one if you have issues when you move out. I have gotten my full deposit back from every other place that I have rented from. These people are crooked. read more

Kelley Property gets a - 1000! These people are the worst. They pride themselves on being the best slumlords. From Ron Kelley himself to most of the employees they lie and steal from you. Whatever you do DON'T RENT FROM THESE PEOPLE! I am on disability and get paid on the 3rd of the month I asked if I could pay rent on the 3rd and not get charged late fees they said yes as long as I had an award letter from social security stating that. I took a copy of my letter and hand delivered it to the front desk. Then a year and half later I find out they have been charging me late fees. They said if I brought letter in going forward they won't charge me but could not take off the ones all ready charged! That's about $550 dollars which they wanted me to pay right away. I had a co-signer and she never received nothing from Kelley Property about any of this until they took me to small claims court. Then to top it off When I moved out that place was better then when I moved in. They expect you to follow lease but they don't keep most of my $908 deposit!!! Charged for drywall work that was done and done shitty when I moved in and it was noted on my walk through inspection sheet. Charged for cleaning painting and carpet cleaning all which was normal wear and tear and per their lease tenant would NOT be charged. Charged me for lock change when I turn my keys in on August 31st before noon like your supposed to. They refused to do a walk through. When I called them on it they said there all legal which is bull said we will just take your sisters house (co-signer) then hung up on me called back to talk to Ron but he must be a wimp cuz he wouldn't take my call and every time I call they would hang up cuz they know they are losers and scumbags! Also had my car towed but nobody else's the 3 years I lived there. The apartments where dirty the hallways also dirty bugs everywhere. They had people come clean hallways but they did a half ASS job were lucky if they made it up to 3rd floor. Smoke detectors in hallway beep all the time. The front and back doors were always broke but they advertise a secure building. You can also count on heat going out several times in the winter besides the fact they control the heat. The toilet had a water leak it was a steady flow but happened on a Saturday I was told just to put bucket under it til Monday! Only gave 1 star cuz you had too!!!!!! read more

Worst apartement ive ever lived in. fridge quit second day, 2 oven burners didnt work, and ants! literally everywhere, they were crawling in through the framework and we brought it to Kelley's attention but theyre too cheap to do anything about it. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM! they will find any reason to raise your rent. it seems like a good offer at first but they are waiting to screw you over. I rate these 1 out of 10, because everyday wed have a new maintenence problem that never got fixed. plus deposit was $950. way too much for the dump we moved into. read more

Lived in Lamplight Terrace Apartments on Center Point Road from 2010-2015. It really wasn't extremely horrible until the washing machine broke...it was on the 2nd floor, there was so much water that it not only soaked that floor but was then dripping through the light fixture onto the floor below, soaking that as well. This happened THREE different times, and not once did they do anything about all the water damage. I started having issues with my voice and throat soon after this happened, because of the mold that I know was growing---funny how as soon as I moved out, my issues disappeared. My health was being negatively affected by that place!! And no matter how many times my neighbors and I called, they wouldn't do anything about it. I even called the city, thinking that they were there to help with these situations, but that didn't do anything at all...it still took about 4 months for them to get a new washing machine and they never did do anything about all the water damage. Then, when I moved out, they charged me an extra $500 on top of the deposit they kept, saying that it was to recarpet the entire apartment and to pay for cleaning. The carpet was in almost the same condition as when I moved in--I lived there 5 years, shouldn't that factor in?--and my mom and I spent an entire day cleaning the place together--I know it wasn't dirty. Then when we called and said we disagreed with charges, they threatened send they account to collections--don't let them use this line to scare you!! A landlord cant charge you whatever they feel like when you move out and then require you to pay it, that is a deposit dispute, and as a renter you have the right to question the charges and challenge them if you feel necessary; they cant send an account to collections that you're not legally bound to pay. Got them to drop the cleaning charges and just paid the rest to end this nightmare as quickly as possible! Wouldn't suggest renting from them even in the most desperate situation! read more
