When I first moved my business to Newbold Exchange I was excited to find an affordable co-working…read morespace outside of center city that offered the same amenities and services as center city peers but was independent. Our move jn experience was great and our experience great for a while- Then property management was transferred to Regus/IWG. We were not notified of the transfer until after the fact, the management transition was a disaster, and Regus is incompetent and difficult to deal with. For 9 months Regus has produced incorrect invoices, lost record of payments, added late fees to payments they lost, and refuse to recognize bank records as valid proof of payment. They lay the blame on the former management and current tenants for their internal issues and expect the tenants to provide proof of everything. Since the new year the dedicated desk area has suddenly cleared out of users by at least half. Many complain of the same issues my business has experienced with Regus and found it easier to go elsewhere than deal with their errors and incompetence. If I was looking for a Coworking space now, I'd ignore Newbold Exchange, Regus/IWG has always been difficult to deal with in past experiences and have only gotten worse.

I received a free coworking pass to check out their location and although they advertise 24/7…read moreaccess they would not honor my pass for my regular work hours (late afternoon to evening). If a space is truly a coworking space and available for other than a 9-5 schedule then you should allow creatives and those entrepreneurs who do not work a traditional vanilla schedule the same opportunities as those who do. This is discrimination against those who do not adhere to the framework of an office type environment. Isn't the typical office type of environment that which you buck against as a non traditional type of work environment is this just marketing BS? I fullyunderstand that the front desk staff leaves at 5 as do most in other coworking entities and that safety and concern should be used in vetting your patrons. Perhaps there should be staff in the evenings then? Perhaps there should be a camera system in place? Perhaps you should be vetting your guests to ensure nighttime safety if the concern is that your work environment is or can be unsafe without supervision. Either way, it is Kismet that Kismet did not honor my free pass. The preordination, predetermination, what is to come, the writing on the wall, all those kismet-ish signs point to a space NOT meant to be sampled in real time and a space NOT suitable to create in (after 5:00 pm) unless you sign up at which point you won't know if the space is suitable to work in after 5 ( as advertised 24/7) until you have already committed. I would suggest that you change your hours or find a a way to accommodate a base of creatives in Philadelphia who would like to find a workspace to try out that does not adhere to a basic schedule but mostly, just change your hours to match your approach or your approach to match your hours and it won't come off as discriminatory. Update: Thanks for your response but I did not just call to "check" in on your pass. I hope that you are not insinuating that I did not have an actual pass. I own a property where free passes were available to those within our community. It was an actual bookmarked shaped pass with a foldable promotional card and I was genuinely excited to come see the space based on your marketing. When I called it was to verify that this was a real pass for the day. As stated, I understand the hard line take you have on security. This understanding does not make you exempt from honoring your pass or having adequate staffing. You should have the passes reprinted to say " for use between 9-5 only."

I personally am not good with technology and the owner was exceptionally patient helping me connect my laptop to the monitor remotely. I would highly recommend this business and I would come back. I was on my way to my usual coffee shop to work and drop the daily $15 (two cups of Latte and a…read morechocolate chip cookie), when I caught a glimpse of this new addition to my neighborhood. Being the perpetually curious (aka nosy) person I was, I googled it, and realized it was a new co-working space. They were running a promotion - a free day to check out and work at their office space! The phrase "free" was music to this Asian's ears. I got my bum up the stairs so fast, I was out of breath. But I digress. The receptionist, unfazed by my disheveled appearance and barely concealed greed (my first question to her - "Can I really work here for free?"), welcomed me and gave me a tour of the office. Three things I noticed right away: 1. Free, unlimited coffee (Freeeeeeeeeee) 2. A Zen Room (a multipurpose room away from the hustle and bustle of the office that can be used for private phone calls, meditation, and mini power naps) 3. Clean, modern designs that appease the minimalist in me As I settled down at a desk to start my work, I thought to myself how nice it would be to have a space of my own, and not haul my 20 pound bag and laptop from my apartment to a coffee shop everyday. I hadn't considered it before, as office spaces in the city were typically out of my price range, but I noticed that it was only $350 to rent a desk ($12 a day), or if I really wanted to be cheap - $185 for 24/7 access to the space, but no designated desk ($7 a day). Both options were cheaper than what I paid to work at a coffee shop where I also faced the following limitations: 1. Only drink two cups of coffee to save money 2. Take my phone calls outside to ensure privacy (not fun when it was raining or snowing) 3. Grapple with the fear of getting my laptop stolen each time I had to take a bathroom break 4. Deadly glares from baristas who resented me for hogging a table for up to 8 hours a day But what really sealed the deal was this: customer service. Not only did the receptionist treat me with kindness, one of the managing partners dropped by the office, and she worked patiently with me to assess which plan best suited my needs. At no point did she aggressively sell their services. In fact, she even asked me to think about it for a couple days, and that she would be glad to answer questions should they come up. I just sent her an email to put all the wheels in motion, and am so excited to call this space my office! TL;DR: Awesome co-working space in the heart of Philly - free coffee all day, reliable internet, and intriguing conversations.

I am one of the principals and am putting this "review" up to tell you about our space. I have an office there too. We bought the building in 2008 with the intention of making offices for ourselves and other "professional" type users. We redid all of the mechanicals in the building (electrical, HVAC, plumbing, flooring, new elevator, new phone system etc.), installed high speed internet (fiber optic), new flooring, lighting, bathrooms, etc. We created beautiful conference rooms and furnished them in lush and comfortable furniture, installed bike racks to let our "green" minded tenants have a safe indoor space for their bikes and we installed a shower in the building so those who worked up a sweat riding to work could clean up at the office. We now have a great space with a nice mix of users - a title company, some lawyers, a marketing firm, a non-profit promoting bike usage, an accountant, a Doctor. All pretty low key and respectful of one another. The environment is professional and quiet but not stuffy. We also have the famous and fabulous "Vedge" restaurant in the ground floor of the building. They operate from 5PM onward so they are great for Happy Hour or dinner. They are a vegan restaurant and the kitchen vents above he roof do there are no smells from the restaurant. We are offering our space for rent as single offices ($750 - $1,900 per month depending upon size and location) and we offer use of conference rooms by the hour through http://www.liquidspace.com. We will probably set aside an office for use by the hour too in the future. You can see more about our space at http://www.historicoffices.com or call Larry Krasner at (267) 456-1000 for more info.
