Better Business Bureau grade is "F" Be careful renting here. Be sure you have them print out the contract and get a copy, as you may later need to take action against them. First, please know that the Better Business Bureau has given all Executive Car Rental locations a grade of F. That's their worst grade. Second, Executive requires more than credit card insurance to rent a car. And they want proof of that insurance. This is because they would like you to use their insurance, which is expensive. Third, they charge $250 deposit. That is a normal practice for a car agency. However, it appears that they do not refund this without you pursuing them. As you can see from the other comments, it can be hard to get a hold of the offices to make that pursuit. I called today, they said they had mistakenly put a "manual hold" on my refund and they supposedly manually processed the refund today. I will be monitoring my credit card. I had trouble getting a live human on the line ... Fourth, you'll note on their website there is no corporate address, nor a customer service number. So really, your ability to follow up or communicate with them is challenging. Fifth, having read enough reviews and glass door commentary, I would say Executive Car Rental is running at least 2, if not 3 types, of financial scams. They clearly have been reported to the BBB (Better Business Bureau). Obviously this is a high risk company, that either purposefully or negligently (through bad systems) tries to keep your security deposit and up charge you on insurance. As to the quality of my car rental. Though the inside of the car was clean, the fabric car seats were stained. If I was renting for work, I wouldn't have felt comfortable having colleagues in the car. Also, the engine occasionally made some whiny noises. I'm curious where they buy their cars from and how they maintain them. read more

I booked priceless car rental on line and my quote was for $99.13 and I was billed $132.18. I was told because my vehicle was checked in 13 minutes late, I was charged for a additional day. I was on their lot trying to check in on time with no signs directing were to drop off the vehicle. By the time I found someone to check in my vehicle, 15-20 minutes has passed. The way I look at it, if you are early retuning your vehicle. I doubt if you get a adjustment on your bill for having the vehicle for less then 24 hours. I feel ripped off and over charge. I should have read their reviews before booking and save myself from getting ripped off. FYI, Priceless and Executive car Rental is the same company. read more

They don't even deserve one star. I don't know how they are still in business. They charge a 250 damage deposit that you will never see again. I rented 2 months ago. Was told it would be returned in 7-10 business days. I've called and spoken with 8 different people who tell you to call corporate. When you do you get a voicemail saying the mailbox is full and can't take messages. Scam artists read more

Operations manager at Detroit airport was nice and helpful. Accident or maybe not but I reserved mid size and was first handed a versa. I used to work in car rentals and know that is a compact. He immediately switched us to Jetta. The car was dirty, windows so bad I had to stop at gas station to wash them so I could see to drive at 2 am. My flight was cancelled due to s storm rolling in. I called to extend and was told I need to email in my itinerary to prove my flight had been rescheduled. 4 hours later Mary calls to say she extended my rental at the same rate. Because it has been so long I was already in process of looking at a new rental and noticed the rate on YOUR website is half the price I'm paying. I call back to ask for the current rate and basically am told my rate has to stay the same because I have already been charged and since she is not manager she can't change it! WOW that is some service. Will not recommend your company or rent a car from you again. I WILL tell everyone to avoid you. Update: I received an email from Mark apologizing about the car and condition. He also discounted the rental daily rate by 50%. Still paid a bunch in tax but that is what it is. Thank you mark for addressing the poor customer service and hopefully coaching the agents on maybe suggesting options or being empathetic to situations out of anyone's control like flight cancellations. read more

We rented from DTW on Thursday May 9th 2019 - Monday May 13th 2019.  We were charged twice on our credit card.  We picked up the rental at 6pm on the 9th and returned it by 6pm on the 13th.  There was no damage to the car.  Everything was left as is.  We refueled the gas. In fact, the car we picked up at first was dirty.  We didn't want a big car.  We only wanted the standard car.  They gave us a big car because did not have what we reserved. They were not even honoring our reservation at first. Seems like they want you to pay more and charge you extra. Beware of all the hidden fees!!!! read more

I returned my rental car on May 25th and my $250 deposit was not refunded as of June 14th. No explanation for the delay. The woman helping me on the phone was polite and apologetic, and said she had "no idea" why the deposit hadn't been refunded but that it would be processed that evening. It was not. I called again the next day and was told the same story. Still waiting on my refund. I arrived at the Detroit Airport after midnight and called the phone number for the company to confirm that a shuttle was coming. The prerecorded message told me where to wait and that the shuttle ran every 15 minutes. I had a reservation with a 12am pickup time, so I assumed a shuttle was coming. I waited 20 minutes and called again, this time waiting through the pre-record to speak to someone, who said a shuttle would be there shortly. She implied that I had previously been instructed to call and inform them of my arrival to summon a shuttle, but this was not the case. A shuttle arrived after another 15 minute wait. The night shift shuttle driver complained about how tired he was when I arrived at 1am and when I departed several days later at 5am. He was rubbing his eyes, yawning, etc. I didn't feel that he was alert and driving safely. Overall, a frustrating and concerning experience that I would not recommend to anybody, despite the possible savings. read more

Yeah I thought this was affordable as well. Until I noticed they didn't put the $291 security deposit back into my account 2 weeks later. I travel often, so I see the scam now. read more

May 3, 2018 Reservation # EXEDTW-18623 Location# ROMULUS, MI 734-413-8300 Good Morning I have to have called at least 40 times between the time of my rental and now. I was promised I will receive my deposit back and instead of the hold I have been charged $262.12.April 29, 2018 was the first time I ever rented from executive rental car and so far I have received the worst customer service a person can encounter from Executive Car rental. When I returned the car to executive rental car on May 1st, advised everything was fine. Once the shuttle drop me off at my airline, I received a receipt of $25 dollars, I immediately called the location and kept getting the call center. One of your customer service agents by the name of Emilia Y. ext. 1909 was so rude to me she apologized herself without my having too acknowledge or bring it to her attention. She refused to let me speak to anyone else and now I am just in disbelief of how this company treats its customers. All I am asking for is a callback from someone in corporate please give me a call back at your earliest convenience. read more

Wow! This place is absolutely terrible. Don't waste your time, money and especially your energy in this place. The guy at the desk was very snarky, i believe his name was Shawn. When i asked about all of there ridiculous policies he told he it can be found on there 5 pages of terms and conditions that is obscurely located on the Priceline/Kayak sites. My issues include: required in bound and out bound flight, $500 dollar deposit, I still have a Michigan drivers license which further subjects you to BS, boundaries on instate travel only. Just go to Enterprise or budget, life is much better over there. read more

Awful car rental company! I arrived in Detroit on the 29th of June. They advertise that they have a shuttle every 15 minutes, but this is not the case. It took 40 minutes to finally get on the shuttle to their car lot. My reservation was for 12 pm, I arrived later than I expected, and when I walked in I was told "we were expecting you at noon, we only hold cars for an hour...... but I'll take care of you" no where on Priceline where I booked does it say they only hold cars for and hour, and how rude of Shawn to say that if he was going to take care of me anyways. So I finally get in a car and drive to Lansing. The ride was so rough and bumpy, no wonder! When I get to my destination I notice that the front tires are bald! The good of the car had not been closed all the way, and the windshield wipers were in desperate need of replacement. I call the rental company several times on Friday and email them pictures of the tires. I call them several times on Saturday and was told that they were going to bring me a different vehicle as the one I had was unsafe to drive. I wait the rest of Saturday, wait all of Sunday, and by Monday morning when I need to drive back to Detroit I still have the same unsafe vehicle. So, I am forced to put my 6 year old daughter and myself in this vehicle with bald tires that is unsafe and drive back to Detroit. When I get there the gentleman Steven I believe was his name seemed blown away by the condition of the vehicle. I have been trying ever since then to speak to someone so I may get a refund on a car that I was unable to drive for most of my visit, and forced to drive in unsafe condition back to Detroit. Apparently Heather is the manager and doesn't think that I deserve a phone call back about this issue. read more

I rented a car from this company earlier this month, and I have not received my deposit back. After reading the reviews and seeing people's issues with their deposits, I asked about it when I returned my vehicle. The woman handling returns was very nice and said it would take a few days. When I wasn't refunded in a few days, I called and was told it would take 7-10 days. I called again 13 business days later and was told that there was a specific person on staff who manually handles refunds. John (last name not offered) is scheduled to call me back tomorrow. Never ever again!! 1st, one person working the counter and he was preoccupied with the cute girls, and was not concerned with the 6 people in line. 2) 250 deposit is ridiculous. 3) because they ran out of cars, they require a verbal confirmation from your insurance company. My experience was so-so. The shuttle driver was great but I asked for a mid sized sedan (To save on gas) but they gave me an SUV when I arrived. The site is not on airport property and the lot was really really beat up with potholes aplenty when leaving & returning to drop off the car. I don't like how you all handled the security deposit. Most agencies in my car rental experience issue a temporary hold on the card provided and then release that hold upon return but you guys billed the whole amount and I had to call a few days later to request my deposit be refunded?!?!? That should not be a call I have to make and you should strive to make doing business with you easier. My expectation is to have my $250 refunded to my card within 3-5 business days. Unfortunately, I could not rent with you again and could not recommend your services. read more

Don't do it! What a terrible rental agency. I booked through Priceline, which did not provide "important information" that I would be charged a minimum of $20 extra because I did not bring proof of my own car insurance on my trip. Further, I waited for 45 minutes at the airport for their shuttle, and nobody came to pick us up. I called, and they said someone was on the way, and another 15 minutes passed. When I wanted to speak to the manager once I arrived at the agency and heard about the $20 mandatory charge for insurance, I was told, "This is not a manager issue." The man at the counter, Carlos, would not provide me any further information. What a waste of a reservation. I should have looked up all the reviews before taking a chance on this rental agency. We travel a lot and have rented cars from a lot of places. We've been with National for a long time as executive members. Whenever we travel to Michigan we use Executive Car Rental. The manager, John, has helped us out so many times - he treats you like a friend and never makes you feel as if you are just another customer. They have the most reasonable rates, great (clean and safe) cars, and make everything so easy. I cannot say enough good things about this company and highly encourage you to give them a shot if you are in Michigan. You won't be disappointed! read more

CROOKS!!!! PLEASE DO NOT RENT WITH EXECUTIVE CAR RENTAL!!! I recently took a trip to Tampa, FL and booked with Executive because they were the cheapest price of the companies at Tampa International Airport. When we arrived, they said they didn't have a car for us and that they could upgrade us to a luxury Vehicle, but not for free. It was going to be well over $100 more. We called customer service and they called the desk there at the Airport and the Manager all of a sudden found a car for us that "Just Came In". If this is all that happened, ok I could deal with that. The next to last day we were there, we got a nail in one of the tires. We called executive and they said "don't worry about it, just bring the car back and we will take care of it". We get to the airport and they said they were going to give us a different car, which they didn't tell us over the phone. So we didn't fuel up the car. So we got charged for bringing the car back with it not being filled up. On top of the Fuel Charge, they tell us that we are not getting our deposit back because of the nail in the tire. They said if we would have gotten their Insurance at $11/day, we could have kept our deposit. So in the end we ended up paying $295 extra because of the tire situation. Very Frustrating, but then there is more... A few weeks later I get a call from my Insurance company saying that Executive is filing a claim because of "Damage to the Vehicle", again because of the flat tire. I tell my insurance company I already paid for the tire with the deposit. The insurance said they should not be filing a claim if I paid for the tire. So I had to submit all my documents, charges to my insurance company. I am waiting a call back from them to see what happens.. read more

Zach is fantastic. Literally the BEST person/employee I've met at a car rental place. Let's be honest, no one enjoys going to a car rental place, especially not at 1:00 AM, but Zach called us while we were at the airport, ensuring we found our shuttle. He took the time to talk to us about each car option and helped choose the best one for us. He was patient and kind and gave us waters immediately, another graceful touch that makes recent plane travelers heaven. That's what is great about Zach and Priceless--the details. I travel a lot, and have picked up cars at places across the globe, but Zach will always be in my heart and we will be returning! read more

Contact the Michigan Attorney General office! I just got off the phone with them. They have had over 10 complaints in 2018 (and obviously there are more victims). This is a crime. They are holding my $250 deposit and have for nearly a month. Just noticed it on my AMex bill. Do the math, think of the number of people that do not check their statements and the interest alone they can earn on the $ held. I too spoke with both Amelia and Colleen. Was told it would be a few days to process and I would receive an Email. Informed them I am contacting the AG's office. I will follow up with AGs office, Mr. Shuette. read more

Absolute WORST customer service. I had an issue with miscommunication by the desk clerk Shawn, who forced me through the check in process not fully explaining what I was agreeing to on the contract. When I called to talk to a manager/corporate rep they said some one would call me back in less then 24 hrs. NO ONE CALLED ME BACK my whole trip (6 days). ECR/Priceless does not care about customers or clients, only about taking your $. GO WITH ANYONE ELSE, don't be fooled by their "low prices". I felt intimidated, manipulated, and scammed by this company. read more

Zack and the rest of the crew are very nice and helpful! The shuttle drive Emanual was great too! Thanks for all your help!

Not a great experience. Took 20+ minutes to wait on the shuttle both to and from the airport. Then waited an hour and a half in line to check in. Had to again wait for a car to be brought up. Finally upon arrival, had to chase someone down to take the keys. Overall not impressed, would not recommend and not worth a small discount compared to larger car rental companies. read more

Do not make my mistake of renting from this awful company. They promise shuttles every 15 minutes-I waited 50 minutes for a shuttle and ended up going with hertz instead. They would not guarantee me a discount despite the wait more than 3 times as long as advertised. When I called them, they promised that the shuttle was 10 minutes away-I heard this promise 3 separate times. They're just lucky yelp doesn't let me give 0 stars. read more

I would not bother with this company. Here is what's wrong: 1) The shuttle bus is supposed to run to the airport every 15 minutes. We waited 40 minutes until it showed up. On the phone, they say the shuttle will be white, but it's not - only adding to the confusion. 2) When you get the facility, they charge you $250 dollars for the heck of it. It's been almost 1 week since I returned the car, and I still have not received the money back. 3) To get them on the phone today, to inquire about why my $250 deposit was not returned, The phone has a 5 minutes message, and then is supposed to put you in a waiting Queue. Then, after you wait about 10 minutes, it just hangs up, with no explanation. It took me 2 phones, and made it through after about the 6th call. Deplorable customer support. 4) When it comes time to return you car, and you park it with the other returned cars. THE ATTENDANT DOES NOT GIVE YOU A RECEIPT. Naturally, that's the place to make sure they don't see any damage - right there an then. He wishes you a nice day. Then, when you go into the facility, you wait in line, because no-one advises you otherwise. When I realized there was only 1 attendant (and about 6 people in line) I was rude, and asked (from 6th position in line) if I needed to checkout. They said no. I think they just expect you to leave with no receipt, so they can contest damage later? In any case, I got right on the phone (and after about 4 attempts) got somebody on the phone who finally took my call, and sent my receipt. Once again, I'm left with the feeling that if I didn't hold their hand, none of this would have gotten done correctly. 5) On the way back on the shuttle, another customer told me that the neighbor where he was visiting threw a rock from the lawnmower and hit the windshield of his Executive Car Renal. It happened 1 week previously. Not only was he personally responsible of the damage - BUT ALSO FOR LOST RENTAL FEES FOR EVERY DAY THE CAR WAS NOT ON THE ROAD. After about a week and a half, he still had not heard anything. DON'T USE THIS COMPANY. YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED. THEY MAY BE A FEW DOLLARS CHEAPER, BUT NOT WORTH IT AT ALL IN THE LONG RUN. read more

SAVE YOURSELF THE TROUBLE and book a car elsewhere. This was a complete waste of our time. Reading through all these negative reviews, I see others have experienced the same bad treatment. When we arrived, there were only 2 people at the counter and a line of several renters waiting to get their cars. I watched nearly a whole episode of Love It or Leave It before I was helped. When I reached the counter the agent was friendly and quick. But he informed me that if I wanted to allow my spouse to drive, it would be a $15/day surcharge. This frustrated me, since Enterprise includes spouses as additional drivers for no extra charge. However, we proceeded with the rental. Next he asked me what kind of car I had at home and when I told him, apparently it wasn't a new enough car because he grimaced. He said I would need to prove our insurance coverages to him because unlike other rental companies, they have a requirement for what kinds of insurance you must carry on your car if you decide not to buy theirs. We called our carrier and found out that our insurance was not sufficient for Executive and we would be required to purchase the upsell of their insurance at an extra $40/day. I've rented cars 1000 times for leisure and business trips and NEVER have I been put through the runaround of calling my insurance company and having them discuss my coverage at the counter. I stepped away from the counter for a moment, called Enterprise and got a competitive rate, plus a discount from them since I was in their system and was a return customer, and walked over to their counter. I hardly had to wait for a friendly agent to help me there, and was LITERALLY in my new rental car within 5 minutes. No games, no gimmicks, and almost $100 cheaper for the total rental than Executive. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! DON'T BE LURED BY THE CHEAP DAILY RATES. All other car rental outlets were sold out so this was my only choice. The car itself was fine, but everything else about the experience left much to be desired. The line to get the car was about 4 people deep and there were three attendants serving the line but it still took nearly 30 minutes to get my car. Returning the car was easy enough but there was no one to greet me when I arrived back so I was confused. I also had to wait about 20 mins for the shuttle back to the airport. So fine if you absolutely need a car but I'd avoid otherwise. Update July 12 - Two weeks after my rental I still had not received the refund of my $250 security deposit. I had to call them.
