Booking online is quick and easy and I was able to get a slot in prior to my event that evening. I was greeted and welcomed in with lots of energy and things quickly turned to confusion for me as I was not sure why: 1. I needed to bring my hair dry to an up-do appointment (I have curly hair) -- every up do I've ever had at any other salon they actually have washed my hair first and then did my hair * my stylist told me it was not possible to dry my hair straight and do an up do in the time of an updo appointment. This caused major confusion and made my experience not really enjoyable as I was wondering why the stylist was mad I came to the appointment with wet hair. Additionally, I went online to check "how long" is an up do schedule for and its scheduled and priced the same as a wash cut and style at 1 hour and 15 minutes. My hair never takes more than around 20 minutes to dry and honestly, even without a Brazilian, my hair only took 40 minutes, which means it would leave 35 minutes for up doing. ----- I'm not sure if the stylist was rushing due to being overbooked or wanting a break or being mad my hair was wet. We had good chats and it turned into a decent experience about 20 minutes in once my hair was dried. ----- It is my fault I didn't come with any pictures I guess of what I wanted and they had no styling books that I could see. I told the stylist I wanted a "low bun thing that looks like a fold over similar to a braid that is a bit loose and has a bit of height and volume to the top and sides." Ultimately, it turned out alright - I had felt rushed the entire appointment which was booked for 1 hr 15 minutes, the stylist finished exactly at the 45 minute mark and that's with me taking 4 minutes to settle in. So the hair was 41 minutes for an hour and fifteen minute appointment. When I ask meta AI to create what I told the stylist, the hair I wanted came up, however, it was not what I received in person. Ultimately, the up do worked, photos came out okay and I can't blame anyone but myself for the fly aways and style, because I didn't bring photos. I don't know if I'll do this service here again, because 45 minutes of a 75 minute service and being told it was not possible due to me coming in with wet hair and not getting a shampoo.... This wasn't ideal. The fact you want clients coming in with dry hair should be somehow communicated to the client in the future. Plus, the stylists have different blow dryers, so getting a Dyson is not guaranteed. The experience was a lesson learned.

I had actually intended to book with Renee, who specializes in curly hair, but accidentally selected Eileen. Eileen was very kind, and this review is not meant to attack her personally. However, it became obvious during my appointment that she was not experienced with cutting or styling curly hair. She even told me, "I don't know how your hair is," which immediately made me nervous. At that point, I wish she had simply been honest and recommended that I reschedule with someone who specializes in curly hair instead of continuing with the appointment. The experience only got worse from there. My hair wasn't properly moisturized or prepped, she didn't seem to know how to detangle or style curly hair, and I actually had to brush my own hair, apply my own products, and define my own curls. Most importantly, far too much of my hair was cut off because it wasn't cut using curly hair techniques. I paid $80 for what was advertised as a curly haircut, yet I essentially had to finish the service myself. Hair takes a long time to grow back, and I'm devastated by how much length I lost. My issue isn't that Eileen was unfriendly--she was actually very nice. My issue is that if a stylist isn't comfortable or experienced with a certain hair type, especially one that requires specialized cutting techniques, they should say so and refer the client to someone who is. That would have been the professional thing to do. To make matters even more disappointing, I reached out to the salon afterward through both Facebook messages and the contact form on their website in hopes of discussing my experience, but I never received a response. Being ignored after such a disappointing service only added to my frustration. If you have curly hair, I would strongly recommend confirming that your stylist has experience with curly hair before your appointment. I hope the salon takes this feedback seriously and improves both its communication and the way curly-haired clients are matched with qualified stylists. No one should leave a salon feeling the way I did after trusting them with their hair.

We got changed in our respective locker rooms, put on the nice robes and sandals, and went to the Relaxation Room to wait. The nice woman who checked us in told me that when my wife got taken for her bath, I should go to the sauna. So I did. I was in the sauna for about 10 minutes when it seemed markedly less hot. Because it was off. I had to get out of the sauna, put on some clothes, find an employee (not as easy as it sounds), and ask them to find someone who can turn the sauna back on. It runs on a timer, but they didn't think to check it would be on during the session for one of their two guests that morning? Seeing as how the sauna was half of my (not cheap) entire experience, this was a little off-putting. After we figured the sauna issue out, I was grabbed by my bath attendant. He led me to a room where it was clear that I had a hot bath waiting. I asked if the cold plunge would be afterward, he said there was no cold plunge but I could turn the bath colder if I'd like. I wasn't sure if I made a mistake, so I just went with it and hopped in the hot bath. About 10 minutes after I got in the bath, he came back and told me there was a mistake, and he had a cold plunge ready for me. So I got out of the bath, and followed him to a different room, and hopped in the cold plunge. Which was very nice. However, the runaround was also a little off-putting, and not the relaxing morning I was hoping for. All in all, the mineral baths are very cool. The water is unique and amazing and I'm glad we did it. For what it's worth, my wife said it was one of the best massages she's ever gotten. However, my experience was disorganized, and the facilities are a bit outdated. Beware: If you wear clothing into the bath, the mineral water will stain it. It would've been nice to have been warned about that beforehand.

The manicure was borng as she made no attempt to make any sort of pleasant chit-chat, even when I did. I found out halfway through that they did not use gel polish, and both my mani and pedi had peeled off in a week. The whole thing cost me $120. It would have cost me $80 - with gel and much better service - in my hometown of Cambridge, MA. It's a good thing I downgraded from the deluxe mani/pedi, which would've set me back $145.
