Ask the Community - Excel Diesel & SUV

Good morning. Would you be able to install the Banks monster intake on a 2022 Ram 6.7 diesel?

Hi Derek, Yes we have installed several of theses.

We have an RV that is set up to tow a car. We have a new (used) car that is not yet set up to be towed. Do you all do the work to set up a 2014 Honda CRV to be towed?

I am sorry Michael, but we do not do that type of work.

Do you guys do tune up?

Hi Carrie, it depends on the vehicle, while we can/do tune ups on domestic gas vehicles, we can do some imports. What kind of vehicle are we talking about?

The woman at the front desk, I can't remember her name because I was distracted, but she had strawberry blonde hair -- was extremely helpful and kind, guiding me through everything with patience and understanding. The owner, Doug, personally introduced himself and noticed I was a little stressed, which meant a lot. I left feeling so thankful and blessed that they were able to help me. I was so impressed when I went in for my transmission acting weird, that I scheduled my brake appointment with them in two weeks, and I can confidently say I refuse to go anywhere else now. I've already started referring all my friends here and I just left the shop 30 min ago haha. I've already sent their contact to 2 people and I will be referring more for when they need help with their car. Thank you!!!! Best shop ever!

I was in last week (7/2025) for no brake lights. It was a complex problem, so it seems. I have…read moreused CB for several thing's, and found their work, excellent. Yes, quite expensive, don't mind paying for quality, and the service that comes with it. Now, the problem. I brought my car in on a Tuesday morning, for a 9am appointment & left it. I never received a notification they were working on my car, as was the case in the past. At 4pm I finally called them, after hearing nothing, I was told they had been working on it, but, could not find the problem. Okay, I said. Then at 5:05 I received a text that they were now working on my car. Remember, I had a 9am appointment. Car was kept overnight, they never bothered to tell me that it was necessary. I received a call at 11:30am the next day informing the car was done. I asked for a transmission fluid change & for them to install a front license plate bracket. I was told OK. I had not heard from them at 4:30, so I called. The mechanic could not be located & they had not started on my car, or even found out information on the license plate bracket, which can be obtained at ANY parts store. I never imagined they would keep my car overnight again, for simple stuff! I told them to come get me. They just couldn't/wouldn't understand a business man with one car, how it was inconvenient to me. Unfortunately, I cannot use a business that will not keep me in the loop. Based on this fact alone, I will not return.

I really liked him, appreciated his work. I hired him to…read morereplace the power steering pump, the cost was absolutely cheaper than other places especially because I bought the part my own. After the work done, the car felt pretty much same or sometimes even worse, for example the handle gets really stiff to turn. He says that it's very normal process because the air has to be bleed out. Weeks have passed with same issue so he came to check the car again and said there's power steering pump rack problem. The rack is usually $1000-2000. Personally didn't really think it would be the rack problem with several reasons and decided to take the car to bigger auto shop. After diagnosis, I was told that the power steering pump is failed because when it was replaced, the flush should've be done but since he skipped it, now debris in fluid damaged not only the whole new pump but also hose and reservoir. Of course as car owner, I was definitely frustrated with the fact that now I have to pay extra more money than before when I thought I could save money because of how mechanic guy has done. I personally had to pay new power steering pump+labor fee but now I have to pay another new power steering pump+hose+reservoir+another labor fee. I will accept the fact that I was asking money back at first because.... who wouldn't? It might not be making sense to ask money back for damaging the new power steering pump by how poorly worked done but I thought the labor fee at least would've been made sense. Instead of taking accountability, he would be defend and saying the book he learned from says that power steering pump replacement is totally okay without the flush and had no problem with all other cars or sending me the google search screenshots. Of course the warranty wouldn't cover anything of things even if he damaged the new part and extra parts of car. Currently I wanted to see more opinions than one or two so took the car to another new auto shop, they also agreed that power steering pump is failed and with high possibility from how it was worked done. Surprisingly the rack itself doesn't look like having a problem, different than what this guy said. People at auto shop also say that flush is very necessary for the pump replacement, especially when the car is old. As I personally said to him, people can always make mistakes but important thing is how to handle. I got an apology eventually. But I wasted money. The other thing, he advised me to replace rear break pads soon. I went to check the break pad recently, all my break pads are not needed to replace due to adequate thickness. I would say he is a capable man to do some works on cars but I can't say he would be with more complicated jobs.

I want to start off by yes, this was a convenient mobile service at the time when it came to…read morereplacing an A/F sensor, but I'm having issues with that recently due to taking my car to the dealership. They reported that the A/F sensor is faulty/needs replacement. I have since requested a full refund for that service since they installed a faulty A/F sensor and have not received that as per contract.. To say that this mechanic has screwed me over is an understatement. Do NOT waste your time or your money here! Originally I had Sage quote me for a torque converter replacement for $1020.43. I got a phone call later letting me know that I needed a transmission replacement instead. He told me the labor would cost the same since the car was already taken apart and we would discuss where to get the transmission. I was given two options; $1500 used transmission with about 30k in miles or a remanned transmission for $3000 with warranty. I was highly advised to get the remanned transmission because it would have a warranty in case any issues were to arise. And I'm so glad I did because the transmission company from CA refunded me in full after sending me a faulty transmission then the nightmare began. Sage Automotive was extremely unprofessional and bit off more than they could chew. If you look at their available services here on yelp, transmission replacement is not listed. Sage could've easily done the right thing and said, "Hey, you're going to need a new transmission. I don't have the necessary skill set to do that let me refer you to ..." but no, I was reassured about the service and that it would not take more than two weeks. My car was held hostage for almost two months. I was given the run around every time I would ask for an update and treated as if this was a project car when this is my primary source of transportation. The job got pushed back multiple times for different reasons; technicians getting sick, wife's birthday, food poisoning, etc. I would understand if this was a favor that I asked from a friend but I'm literally paying for a service and was neglected as a paying customer. I paid for the transmission along with the labor in FULL before the service was even completed!!! So why prolong the process when you have been paid? I dropped the car off Dec. 26th 2025. Thursday Jan 7th the transmission was delivered and January 12th the transmission job was supposed to be done. I had a trip planned and was hoping I would have my car before January 13th. Come Tuesday Jan. 13th I have my flight out of town and I was given no phone call, text or email update on my car. I had to reach out to Sage myself 2 days after the agreed due date to make sure that I would receive my car when I got back that Saturday. I was told by Sage that my car would be ready by then, but to my surprise I had received a phone call while on vacation only to be let down yet again and that they would need a couple more days. On this phone call I was not given a due date for my vehicle, "... I don't want to put a due date on it because it seems that every time we do it gets pushed back." Also " I spent $400 on tools for this job.." Why is this relevant to me? Normally that wouldn't fly at other shops. Why couldn't Sage do the right thing and be transparent that he COULDN'T HANDLE THE JOB. I was also told that I would be reimbursed for a car rental (no amount or type of car was specified on said phone call). I went through Costco because it was the cheapest option and was billed $196.18. My total was a lot more due to insurance fees but I ate the cost of those. I had no say in the type of car I was given, I rented it for 4 days to get me through the weekend and to my early shifts that week. I only asked Sage to cover the $196.18. After sending Sage the bill I was met with a passive aggressive email written by AI that said they would only cover up to $150 for a 3 day rental and criticized the choice of vehicle because I should've chosen something of "equal value" to my car. Using AI to write a business email seems really counterintuitive to just reaching out and asking more questions about the rental costs instead of making assumptions. They also requested email to be the only form of contact moving forward to save their ass from making more commitments they couldn't follow through with. I paid $1251.05 for the job and was told that the new transmission was faulty. Sage reached out to the company in CA and they were able to send a new part replacement and cover the labor cost for the part replacement. Outstanding service from those guys. The part arrived Monday Feb. 2nd and I reached out that I would need my car no later than Tuesday Feb. 3rd. Let me preface that the valve body part replacement is a simple quick job for someone that knows what they're doing (2hrs).

The issue was resolved and much appreciated! Original review: As a first time customer I was very disappointed by Eagle. When I got my invoice the technician didn't really go over the car and a week later my brake line broke. Also, I found out from a another auto garage that the part cost 84 and Eagle charged me double- 168. We called Eagle but they claimed they couldn't fully check the brake line...and since they offer a four warranty that was their reasoning to double cost of the part.

Beware of these scam artists at EAS, and definitely don't let your teenagers go there to get their…read morevehicle serviced. I bought my teenager a punchcard so they could get oil changes and tire rotations done on their own and keep up the basic maintenance on their vehicle. After taking their vehicle in for an oil change and tire rotation, Cruz at EAS on Chatfield notified us that there were several additional service items that needed to be taken care of on the vehicle. Several of the items were noted as emergency items that were apparently safety issues. After calling EAS and talking with them, I told them that I just wanted them to do the oil change and the tire rotation and that I would not be doing the service there and they demanded to know why not and where I would be taking the vehicle. I told them that it was my business where I took my vehicle for service and I do not need to provide them with that information, and they stated that the vehicle was unsafe to drive and they would need a signature from us in order to release it, and Cruz then stated that they were not going to do the tire rotation - which had already been paid for, and then hung up the phone on me. When my teenager went in to pick up the vehicle, they again tried to pressure them and make them provide a signature, saying that they were taking away a vehicle that was unsafe to drive in another attempt to get them to pay for services that were not needed. This is the second time that this has happened to my teenager at EAS when taking their vehicle in for a simple oil change and tire rotation, once at the EAS location on Crestline, and once at the EAS location on Chatfield. Both times they attempted to scam us and pressure my teenager into several thousand dollars of unnecessary repairs and tell them that the vehicle was unsafe to drive. My teenager was almost in tears, thinking that their vehicle was unsafe and they would need to buy a new vehicle. After picking up the vehicle, we took it to an independent mechanic of our own choosing, who looked at the list that EAS provided and started laughing. After doing a thorough inspection of the vehicle, the independent mechanic stated that the vehicle was not unsafe to drive. EAS had stated that the brakes were at a level three, which is considered unsafe, but the independent mechanic stated that the rear brakes were at a lev four and the front brakes were at a level five and six. The independent mechanic also looked at the brake fluid, which EAS said needed immediate attention and needed to be flushed and changed, and stated that they didn't even know how to check it there and he checked it and said that brake fluid was perfectly clear and there was no issue with it and that EAS was just trying to scam us with another unnecessary repair. The independent mechanic also ruled out several other items that were on the list that EAS stated need attention and stated that the vehicle did not need them at all. This is the second time that EAS has tried to take advantage of a teen driver and make them think their vehicle was unsafe and tried to up-charge them with unnecessary repairs that they thought we would just simply provide a credit card for and sign off on. Both of these locations have been rude and dishonest, especially Cruz at the Chatfield location.

I brought my car in for a stalling issue. The initial diagnosis cost $775 to replace a battery…read morecable and add a ground screw, which felt very high. Afterward, I was told the car had multiple oil and coolant leaks and was quoted an additional $3,500 for repairs. On a car worth about $4,000, this didn't make financial sense. When I declined the extensive repairs, there was no discussion of smaller, interim solutions or things I could try myself; the only suggestion was financing the full amount. The immediate next step was being asked to retrieve my vehicle. The shop was extremely busy, and I left with the impression that they prioritize large, high-cost jobs. Disappointed with the experience and lack of flexible solutions, I will not be returning. Update to my previous review: It's been two weeks since I picked up my vehicle, and I have not observed any oil on my driveway. This seems inconsistent with what I was told about the severity of the oil leak issue during my visit. I have checked the oil level multiple times and it appears to remain at the same level. After posting my initial review, I received several phone calls from the shop owner requesting that I modify my review. I eventually asked that these calls stop. Service details: I paid $180 for initial diagnostics, during which I was told there was an 80% probability that the problem was my battery cables. I then paid $235.19 for new battery cables, but it did not resolve the issue. A subsequent diagnosis costing $359.98 identified a bad ground wire, which was then repaired by tapping in a new wire. Additional observations from my service experience: When I collected my vehicle, I noticed what appeared to be a black, grease-like substance on the exterior door handle that was not present when I dropped it off. I also discovered that the front emblem was no longer attached to my vehicle. When I inquired about this inside the shop, staff located the emblem and handed it to me and told me it fell off when they closed the hood. I check my fluids every month, this has never happened to me. There was no offer to repair the damage.
