Leagues are on every night with various levels, as well as pitches that can just be rented. Prices have crept up quite slowly in the past few years. Bar is good, with bar staff usually very friendly. Can be hired out for parties. Parking is not bad, but does get a bit crampt at the peak times through the week.

We drove up north from Liverpool to Burnley to watch their match against West Ham. We got to check out their Jimmy McIlroy social area before the game and we had a great time. The field is a bit antiquated, but sufficient for the steadfast Claret fans. It may be one of the oldest parks in the Premier League. The grounds were well tended to, the seats although a bit old were faded but not cracked or uncomfortable to sit in for the 90+ minutes of the match. The social area was first rate, we had our own ushers that kept us from going astray, and helped us find what we needed. We had to pay for drinks, but the food presented was delicious. Before kickoff, they had three food stations. They offered a Korean Rice Bowl station with pork belly or fried tofu, chilli cucumber pickle, gochujang mayo. I had like three of these... they were amazing. The second offering was a Katsu Chicken Burger with kimchi, katsunnaise, on a brioche bun. It was also pretty good. The third pre-game offering was the beech smoked pork sausage on a brioche bun with smashed nachos, crispy onions, ketchup, and mustard. I passed on this one. After half they served butter chicken & spinach pie, also pretty good - and tea or coffee. The fans were dedicated. There was a lot of chanting, a lot of C'me On Burnley!" They really wanted to will their team to victory. My daughter got a pic with a minority owner, JJ Watts, as he was in the building for the match as well. Unfortunately for the Clarets, they fell short on the "will of one nil," as the Hammers scored two in the final minutes and beat the home team. The Burnley fans were not happy. Turf Moor is one of your traditional, older stadiums in the Premier League, it has been home to…read moreBurnley since 1883 and as I recall it is one of the oldest football stadiums in the Premier League, older than Goodison Park and Anfield yet a few years later than Stamford Bridge. For an old stadium especially for one of Burnley's structure, I was quite impressed with Turf Moor which has a capacity of just over 22,000. More recently, they have expanded disabled seating to meet Premier League requirements which the ground was behind in for a long time, they previously only offered away supporters 3 wheelchair bays (The average is around 12-15 often reaching 25), but due to a reformat of the stadium they've now increased that to 18 which is impressive. The staff at the stadium seemed mixed - the stewards actually used common sense by not blocking the view (often they stand at the front and refuse to move, meaning you can't see the view), however on the front enterance the person scanning tickets seemed to be talking to a friend - he didn't even look at me which surely was a security flaw (anyone could have gotten in without a ticket, he wasn't paying any attention). Obviously I was happy with the result being a 4-1 win for Manchester City, my team and I also felt welcome as an away supporter from the club, I booked parking in advance which was pretty expensive at £10 considering a large amount of street parking and car parks nearby and the fact there is a good wait to get out of the car park until all the pedestrians have gone, but still how close the car park was to the stadium was remarkable, it was so close I could have probably watched the game from my car (Okay I wouldn't go that far - but it was so close!), and being a first-timer to the ground and it being a freezing, cold night in December I was glad of the parking space. The one big screen at the other end of the Cricket Field (away stand) seemed pretty small, but I did have a decent view of the pitch even if the writing on the big-screen was impossible to read and poorly formatted. Despite being an old stadium, it has been improved of late to meet UEFA requirements and Premier League requirements (more seats for disabled people in both home and away areas AND removing the wooden seats for plastic ones in the Cricket Field Stand) 3* - Pretty cool stadium for a club like Burnley, they have tried to improve it as much as they could while they still don't have the facilities of a big club's modern arena (concourse is not disabled-friendly, you go in from outside), it still is a stadium which has improved and I really hope they won't revert on the changes when Burnley's inevitable relegation comes around.

Most often we'd come and play football, they have 5, 5 aside pitches, a 7 aside pitch and an 11 aside (or near enough) pitch - and rental prices are pretty competitive with other options around Bolton. They have a nice little cafe inside as well so you can grab a coffee before or after and they have sandwiches too!

My first visit to the stadium was in April 2022, as I watched Manchester City defeat Leeds 4-0. There are a good number of buses that serve the stadium, which run close to Leeds Railway Station, although the wait before and after the game can be quite a long time. The ground staff and stewards seemed friendly enough and welcoming towards away supporters. I did find it a little difficult to find the away end, which did involve walking the terraces and streets around the ground, signage to find entrances could certainly be an improvement, but this may be down to the local council. The atmosphere in the ground was very good, the ground regularly seemed full and hopefully, an expansion is on the card soon, as it seems Leeds could certainly fill more than the 37,792 capacity they have now. For an older stadium, the facilities were rather good including a Club Store, and a large screen showing the scoreboard and replays. Certainly a stadium worthy of Premier League status. 4*

Compared with other places to play in Manchester, for example the Armitage Centre, its just a cut above. Pitches are either sand-based Astroturf or (if you're lucky) the fake grass with the rubbery bits (technical term). Either of these are preferable (and safer) to the concrete of the Armitage Centre. They run leagues every evening of the week for teams of various levels. Once your team have played a few games they'll put you in the right league so you're playing competitive and worthwhile games every week. This is the main thing that makes Power League worth the money. There's nothing worse than winning 25-0 one week and losing 18-1 the next (actually happened to me at the Armitage). You also get a referee which makes a huge difference. Also, they've got a TV so you can watch a bit of football as it should be played after your miserable attempt (if United are on)

First-Hand Experience: I'm lucky enough to have seen Sheffield Wednesday live on 6 or 7 occasions, including in the very old days down in Oxford, and of course at their home stadium more recently. Which was very sad for me. This team is a brilliant team that is a giant of the English game. I have to separate them from their stadium which was a death trap and a heartbreaking place for any Liverpool fan. They were formed in 1867 and so are one of the oldest teams in the world. They're currently in the second tier but are a fallen giant, along with Sheffield United, and belong back in the big time as soon as possible. They were originally a cricket club which is kind of boring. The club played only on Wednesdays, hence the name of the team now. They play in boring blue and white. The Arctic Monkeys, Gary Cahill, Paul Carrack, Jarvis Cocker, Michael Palin, Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead and Def Leppard all supposedly support the Owls. Yes they're nicknamed the Owls, how adorable. They have won the Premier League 4 times, in 1903, 1904, 1929 and 1930, so some really amazing pedigree there. They won the League Cup as recently as 1991 when they were still a top team, and they won the FA Cup in 1896, 1907 and 1935, so their trophy cabinet is definitely full and impressive. They've spent 66 seasons in the top division, but not since the year 2000, so hopefully they'll be back soon. The reviews here that are for the stadium need to be moved to the new stadium listing. They once beat Geri Halliwell 12-0. I'd rather join her than beat her. Chris Waddle, Des Walker, Marc Degryse, Paolo Di Canio, David Hirst, were a few of the legends here. Sheridan, Harkes, Wegerle too. Americans before Americans were cool. Just don't ever go and watch them on a Tuesday or a Thursday. It'll end badly.

Super supportive fans and very helpful staff…read more The grounds are nice, the stadium area for the local team the Sale Sharks is very clean and it's fantastic are super supportive for all visitors to the stadium grounds. While we were watching Noah, we got to pregame with the Sharks fans in prep for their rugby union match. As the matched approached, more and more fans arriv d, but they were all nice and orderly. I didn't get any flack from wearing my Liverpool gear up here in the Manchester area where the Sharks call home. I did enjoy the pump up songs that the fans here have prepping for their match. There were food trucks all over, and one of the sponsors was Bach 95. The lagers were cold, but warm d up my soul. The kids were thoroughly ashed by this local te, but played it out with their heads held high. British footie is a lifestyle, The stadium support staff wear these jackets that say "I'm here to help." Bathrooms were also small here but clean. I would return to see the Sharks play just on the tailgating alone.

And while they all like either United or Liverpool, they are even more passionate about - ugh - Rugby. And this team means so much to them (Salford Rugby) because Salford thinks of itself as its own city, and so this Ruggers team (sorry, ew) is the only thing Salford has to be proud about that isn't named after Manchester in a sporting sense. Their stadium is tiny but it feels like home to me because I've been here more than a few times with family. I don't watch Rugby, but if I did, it'd be with my Mancunian family at this stadium. It's a nice facility and the pride of Salford. I've been to most UK & US stadiums, due to lifelong obsessions with travel, sport & especially footy (soccer to Americans). Born & raised in England, I followed Oxford United (hometown team) to stadia all over the country at away games, and later Liverpool (fave team) around. Every stadium review - like all my reviews - are from first-hand personal experience, usually from several visits. As recently as Fall 2014, when I was "stuck" in UK for 3 months, I went to hundreds yet again while travelling. I have pictures of me at most, which I'll post later. She used to live in Eccles, and I lived in Salford for a year. I have close connections to the area and have been there many times. So for this reason, I have to give the very presence of a stadium here 4 stars. I don't like Rugby, and it's not the most impressive stadium, but it's new-ish and very popular with the locals, and for that reason, I give it a 4.
