Amazing yarn store! The stock is great--a diverse selection, knitting supplies, books, and more! The store is divided into two sections, and the larger section has a help table to aid people with patterns etc (so cool!) and also is where the store hosts events. The workers are very kind and helpful. I was quickly assisted in finding the yarn and tools I needed for a project. I was convinced to give metal knitting needles a try (I've only used wood so far) and I've been loving it! I got all my questions asked and more :) Being a knitting store, the price of items are a bit spendy, but that's also because the quality is great. The store sources beautiful yarns which comes at a cost, but you know what you're getting is great. They are also able to purchase print your patterns if they are on Ravelry (maybe other sites as well). A Fabulous Fiber Home away from home. We came on a recommendation from a friend who is a local knitter. We have been traveling for work relocation, and from the moment we walked in, we felt welcome. The staff is incredibly helpful and sweet. They even untangled my birds nest of knotted yarn for me, and it wasn't even yarn I bought from them! Who does that? We have been back many times. Marilyn is a patient and able teacher, and taught my husband to spin!! We have bought many batches of roving there, and have gotten tons of help outside the formal classes we attended. There is lovely yarn galore, fun accessories, notions, roving, wheels, looms, and cozy areas to sit and knit/crochet or spin. This yarn store has a fantastic collection of curated yarns. They seem to have sweater quantities and many color choices in a variety of brands. They carry Shibui, Blue Sky, Brooklyn Tweed, Malabrigo, Madelinetosh, Baah, and so many others. I can se why people think this is a go-to yarn shop BUT, I went with a friend who bought about $200 of yarn and ended up with TWO dye lots of a commercially dyed yarn. We didn't notice (we didn't realize we needed to) and the person who rang us up didn't notice it either. It was quite obvious when it was wound though and when my friend asked about it, she was advised to alternate stripe in the odd dye lot. In a hand dye that's a pretty standard way to manage it but we really felt that when one purchases commercial yarn it is partially to avoid the necessity of carrying another ball. My friend purchased another ball in the correct dye lot as the store offered no apology or assistance with the situation. I think this yarn store has a great selection but the service is not that great. I travel a great deal and visit many stores and I really don't think this is a standard procedure for shops with a service base, especially when very often yarns can be purchased online for less. We frequent local shops and intentionally spend more for service. I think it was lacking here. read more

Took a spin class here last weekend. I've been stuck to my wheel ever since! Thrilled with the one on one instruction I received from owner Marilyn. She is incredibly knowledgeable about all things fiber. I felt so much more confident in my ability after I left there. The shop is lovely. I always feel welcomed here. Great selection. Sweet staff. Easy to find and lots of nearby parking. I've gotten so many wonderful yarns and supplies here. You must give this spot a try! read more

I stopped by after by trip to English Gardens, so I was in my grubbier clothes. I had heard they had classes and I want a list. Plus I wanted to buy yarn for my mom for Mother's Day. Beautiful shop, beautiful yarns, the table were decorated with " projects". Two women were talking in the back corner. Although they couldn't see me when I walked in, I was visible when I rounded the aisle. No greeting, no asking if I needed help, no break in their conversation. After 5 minutes of looking at various yarns, I walked out. Will not be going back. This ( below) is why I went there, from their website, and what I was hoping to find. I am new in Detroit and wanted to find a class to meet new knitters. I stopped by here on my recent trip to Detroit and was totally wowed. The space is quite large, well set up and well-lit, with a big table for knitting at off to one side. There is a huge variety of yarn, including yarns from Wales, Australia, and Japan, and probably others that I didn't note specifically. There's a lot of gorgeous lace-weight merino in bright colors, sock yarns, malabrigo, noro, and anything you might want in between. Needle selection is heavily biased toward Addi turbos, which isn't terrible but is unfortunate for those of us favoring Knitter's Pride and looking for a size 15 interchangeable, but this was literally the only thing I didn't find here. Staff are helpful and really nice, and the whole place has a very welcoming feel in addition to the killer selection. I got on their mailing list and will absolutely go back next time I'm in town. read more

lovely place! lots of wonderful yarns, all at varying price points. well stocked for needles, notions, and spinning too. the space is very open and inviting, and the staff is warm and welcoming. i've been meaning to learn how to spin, and if i were a resident here i'd definitely sign up for a class. a fun 'tidbit'-- they have woven basket full of 'tidbits', which are little balls of leftover yarn. only 50 cents per ball, it was fun to look through to find odds and ends to make hexipuffs for my quilt. read more

I really can't say enough good things about this store. Southeast Michigan is lucky to have many fine YLSs, but this one stands out as one of the finest! The entire staff, starting with the owners, go out of their way to be helpful, and their combined knitting knowledge is prodigious. The space is inviting and the inventory is excellent. Stopped in right before close (I hate doing that but it was a wool emergency) and the owner graciously helped me find the colors I was looking for. I was very impressed with their yarn selection (having been in many fiber stores), though I did not look at notions or needles. I got the impression that this is a welcoming, supportive place, as the owner not only helped me with my purchase, but also took the time to chat enthusiastically about my project and knitting in general. I live rather far from the shop, but I will be making the trip out there again in the future. read more
