Have bought a couple of items of jewellery and some framed watercolours over the last year. Staff always very pleasant and helpful. I'm a newbie to auctions and they answered all my questions about bidding online, fees etc. very patiently! I live locally so always view items beforehand. They also valued some jewellery I have for insurance purposes for a reasonable fee (similar price to local jewellers but I could take it to Ewbanks whereas with the local jeweller I had to send it away - which I didn't want to do). read more

Terrible service to buyers , after spending alot of money repeatedly with them , they try and put outrageous storage charges onto the lots for collecting a couple of days late , despite having been informed and threatened to keep my lots if I did not pay the storage , despite me being willing to pay for the purchases . I bought 5 used watches from Ewebanks. I waited over a week for the invoice and then after 8 days I received the invoice from an online auction. I read on the invoice that if the invoice is not paid a storage charge of £5 a day is charged. They kept the invoice for one week and the day before the £5 storage charge I finally received the receipt. I rang the auction house to pay the invoice, and a rude person answered the phone. She said if you do not arrange collection immediately there will be a storage charge. She said we sent the first invoice last week, which was a lie because I checked my inbox and junk mail before I rang and there was nothing from Ewebanks. I rang one of their recommended shippers and ended up paying almost as much for the shipping as the cost of the watches. The set up they probably have is they send the invoice late to force the buyer to find a shipper quick to avoid storage charges. The buyer pays over the top for shipping and they get percentage of the shipping price back from their recommended shipper. Anyway I received the watches. The watch that I was keen on and had been described as working was not working. I rang the auction house and spoke to one of the partners and I explained the watch I wanted was not working. He came out with the rubbish we do not guarantee the working order. I explained I do not expect a guarantee but I do expect the watch to be functioning on arrival, otherwise your description of whether a watch is working or not is worthless. He ranted on about we do not guarantee working order. I just explained I can see you have no intention of playing fair and said bye, and rang off. My opinion of this auction house is they are an extremely dishonest business in which every aspect of their business is the material of the gutter. Another great experience at Ewbank's auction today. We picked up some lovely dining chairs, an original oil painting and loads of other stuff we had no intention of buying, including 12 framed prints for £10!!!!! ' First, it took 4 messages to get a reply regarding VAT - you were not in communication the whole time. And the responses I received from you (the person who wrote the response to my rating) were rude. Second, the item that was damaged was damaged because all my items were stuffed into one tiny bag. I had a pretty good experience with Ewbanks - they handled a great deal of furniture, pictures and collectables from my Mother's Estate. I was particularly impressed by Andrea Machen who is their jewellery expert. She went out of her way to be welcoming and helpful and took a huge amount of time to give me advice and tips and information about my Mother's collection. I really learnt a lot from her and would always trust her. Highly recommended. Another lady, Susan Orringe, I had dealings with was also extremely friendly and pleasant. read more

Do not buy from them online. Very miss leading and dishonest business. I purchased a poster online which looked fine, but when picked up it had a large water or coffee stain in the middle. No mention of this on the listing. Apparently my fault for not asking about the condition. If they were an honest business they would have but this in the description. Tried to get my money back but they said it's my fault for not checking. read more
