Had my dinner date here with bf, and we ordered the grilled octopus for appetizer which was good. It was soft and not chewy at all. It had a lot of raw onions in it which bf did not like. The chicken lemon soup was really flavorful and creamy (I'm not exactly sure if they used rice flour in it). The grilled branzino was excellent. It tasted fresh and had a nice mild flavor to it. The scallops with asparagus risotto was awesome as well. The desserts we had were all right, I forgot the names of it but it was something like a choco lava cake (which they called souffle), and some sort of custard bread pudding texture. Their food is a little pricey and I recommend to call ahead for reservations because they get packed over the weekend. read more

I have been to Evoo and Lemon three times now, with out of town friends, with just me and husband for a date night, and with the kids for lunch. I feel very satisfied with this option for all three kinds of meals! Salads and Mediterranean food are great here, so vegetarians and folks who are dieting have the options they need. My last meal here with the kids included chicken and lemon soup--my mouth is watering as I remember!--a huge bowl as their soup of the day option. My college roommate was Greek and her mom made this soup, the bowl I had at Evoo was just as great. I had one of their wonderful combination salads (Signature salad) for my entree, and was stuffed. Goat cheese, delicious figs and greens, just a great salad. Hummus here, olives, bread, all the basics are always delicious. The atmosphere is quiet and low-key. I've never taken a seat outside however that seems just as relaxed. It's really one of these New Jersey restaurants with good honest delicious and reliable food and emphasis on a pleasant calm environment. Non-Seafood Review of a place known for seafood. It's a personal preference, I simply do not like seafood. I was at EVOO with a large group of friends for dinner on a Tuesday night. The owners were very accommodating to our group and made for a pleasant night out for all of us. We started out with Saganaki as an appetizer. It was DELICIOUS: exterior crispy, cheese salty, black seasame seeds added crunch and the fig cut through the salt. For dinner I had the Bifteki and Blue Farm salad. I think the Blue Farm salad was perhaps the best salad I've ever had at a restaurant. It had the perfect balance of dressing, dates, & blue cheese. It was a large salad and I ENJOYED it. The Bifteki was served on a bed of yogurt with a slight hint of apricot. I had the Bifteki with the salad and was so happy. JUST GO. EVEN IF YOU DON'T like seafood go. In our party several people had the tiger shrimp, salmon, lamb chops, the greek salad, and the chicken dish. We ALL LOVED IT. GO. read more

I typically don't take the time to review a place but I have to make an exception for this amazing restaurant. It's definitely a hidden gem in northern NJ. My girlfriend and I were looking for a place to celebrate our anniversary and we found EVOO & Lemon while walking along downtown Millburn. It was on a Sunday afternoon during Labor Day weekend so there were no crowds or heavy traffic in the area, thus we were seated quickly and our attentive waitress got us our drinks quickly. After perusing the menu, we decided on the grilled calamari and bifteki as our appetizers and the scallop and angry shrimp for our entrees. The food came out quickly, piping hot, and with perfect timing between our apps and entrees. Not to mention that the portions were very generous so come hungry! Some highlights: Appetizers: -The calamari was grilled to perfection, tender and seasoned just right. -The bifteki, in my and my lady's opinion, was the star of the show. It hit on so many flavor notes while not being gamy or overpowering. The apricot yogurt sauce, however, absolutely MADE this dish. I could eat this every day if I had to. Entrees: -Scallops were cooked perfectly and the crispy prosciutto added a salty punch to the entire dish. The asparagus risotto was creamy and cooked well! -Angry shrimp were large and was seasoned to the point that it provided enough of a spice that kept you coming back for more. A little heavy but it's a pasta dish so that was expected. Be prepared to slurp the noodles and sauce! Dessert: -They were transitioning to a fall menu so we got the semolina custard with phyllo dough recommended by our waitress. This was a great end to the meal as it wasn't too sweet but also rich enough that it hit all the right notes to close our meal. I'd have loved the phyllo to be crispier but still great! Overall, we'd go back in a heartbeat and will be recommending to all of our friends who live in the area. It's also BYOB so we'll be bringing some wine and craft beers to enjoy with our next meal! read more

This Greek restaurant is a gem in Millburn! I live 30 minutes away, and it was well worth the drive for the fabulous meals we had tonight. They served fresh, delicious bread to start. For appetizers we had the saganaki which is a must order here. It came with a delicious fig jam on the side, and was the best saganaki I've had anywhere. We also had the shrimp santorini which was high quality shrimp in a tasty red sauce with feta. For entrees were the shorts ribs over fresh pappardelle and the scallops over asparagus risotto. The short ribs were top notch, and the scallops were very good and asparagus risotto with crab meat it came over was to die for! For desserts were the baklava which was good, and the German chocolate cake which I loved! The buttercream and thick layers of coconut was outrageous. I'm so happy I dined at this restaurant tonight, and highly recommend everyone to come here. read more

That's right. I am handing out a 5 Star review, which I rarely do. Let's start with the service. Regrettably, I forgot the waiter's name. He seemed like the head waiter. He was 10 stars. Friendly, helpful, inviting, caring, knowledgeable, the perfect waiter. I mean perfect. Everything flowed. Refills, courses, asking us how everything tastes, if we want more bread, etc. Now for the food. The bread with hummus and olives was good and fresh. I ordered crab cake. This was a really nice crab cake. It seemed hand made and fresh. There was a ton of crab and a little filling, the real deal. It was very tasty. My wife ordered the signature salad. It is huge. I tried it and it was excellent. For my main course, I ordered the special fish of the day, Dorado. It was cooked perfectly and it tasted so fresh. The side of sting beans were excellent. I also got the truffle fries, they were outstanding. My wife ordered the scallops with risotto. I tried both. The scallops were cooked perfectly and tasted just like you would expect at a NYC 5 Star Restaurant. Finally, the baklava. I am not a fan, but it came complimentary. I tried it and it was good. My wife who couldn't finish anything loved the baklava and finished both our pieces. I cannot wait to return for my next meal. read more

This is legit Mediterranean with super fresh ingredients and a friendly staff. You can tell that they take pride in their food. Portions for the small platters were surprisingly large. We only had small platters and the stand outs where the KEFTEDES and TZATZIKI! BYOB. COVID dining: Ample outdoor seating with 6+ ft of spacing between tables. Dining is set on a closed street with a large area sectioned_off for this restaurant. We went late on Sunday and they were out of almost every fish. I take this as a good sign in the sense that there is a good turnover with the freshest ingredients. We will be back and bringing friends! read more

City quality in Millburn I almost never post reviews but was blown away by the menu and quality at EVOO and Lemon. It reminded me of a neighborhood Greek spot in the city. It has be "The Golden Age" of restaurants in New Jersey. Suddenly, new restaurants are popping up all over the place. Like everything else, some are gaudier than others, some are classier than others some don't have a clue and are attending, at great expense, the restaurant school of hard knocks. Still, every now and then a restaurant rises and captures our imagination and our taste buds. This year our vote goes to "EVOO And Lemon" located at 45 Main Street in Millburn, New Jersey. When you step into the relatively small store-front establishment, the first thing you notice is the open kitchen. There's nothing to hide here as the kitchen staff hustle to create on-the-spot delectables for their waiting guests. "It's a small restaurant on purpose." says Head Chef and Owner Hektor Dajo. "Because it's small I can control what goes on until I build my staff and they learn and share my passion." A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY, his passion centers on Traditional Mediterranean experiences. "My guest appreciate fresh, tasty, high quality ingredients assembled simply and affordably." A complimentary offering of pita, hummus and Kalamata olives was brought to our table. My wife ordered and shared the generous Greek village salad. She commented on the delicious subtleness of the vinaigrette dressing. It was hard to go wrong with any selection, as we had no doubt our food was being cooked to order with only the freshest of ingredients. I had the 6-oz. filet mignon (plenty for me) accompanied with sautéed spinach and garlic ($26). The order came with a side of risotto and cremini mushrooms. My wife had the pan-seared scallops, asparagus risotto, crab meat and crispy prosciutto($29), Both servings were more than generous and we were sure we would have leftovers to bring home... we were wrong. Both dishes were so irresistible, there was nothing left to pack up! Hektor does no marketing or advertising as yet and is depending on word-of-mouth to spread the news of the 2-month old "EVOO and Lemon". So here's our recommendation. Run Don't Walk to Hektor Dajo's "EVOO and Lemon" 45 Main St. Milburn, NJ for the best Traditional Mediterranean experience (and even more) this side of the Aegean Sea. read more

Absolutely delightful dining. The service was friendly & attentive. As the name suggests the dishes were subtle & delicious. We basically were there for the Mediterranean theme & fresh seafood & were not disappointed. Grilled octopus salad, grilled calamari, we had 3 spreads so fresh & couldn't resist ordering the homemade spanipokita flaky & delicious. Our man courses were the fish specials, grilled red snapper bone out, Bonito bone grilled simply evoo & lemon perfect......scallops w/ asparagus risotto & the ahi tuna all done to perfection. We shouldn't have but we had dessert..it was a homemade custard tart that was a cross between a bakalava & a baba rum with fresh fruit...oh! Very good meal all around. Started with bread, olives and hummus so that was very nice. We had appetizers of the saganaki and grilled peppers and both were delicious! The grilled pepper was super fresh and perfectly charred. I recommend letting it cool a bit before eating. The first pepper I cut open and all the cheese rushed out because it was so hot and melted. The second was a bit more cooled and solid and therefore easier to eat. Saganaki was very good but nothing too special, similar to other dishes I've had before. For dinner I had the signature salad. It was huge and super fresh. Very yummy. Could've used more cheese and dressing but a solid vegetarian option. My parents also had the bifteki starter and the scallops with risotto. They really enjoyed both. Said the scallops were cooked perfectly. Being that I live elsewhere in the country I was surprised to heard this place was BYOB. Not a big deal but I was not prepared for that, however there are a few liquor options nearby. I'd go back again if in the area, my parents said they would definitely be back soon. read more

I had such high hopes for this restaurant since I see it has a 5 start rating. I came with a party of 4, and the hostess, who was also the server, looked at us and said it would take her a minute because she is busy. It happens and we were very understanding. Two minutes later and she is beside us polishing water glasses, not acknowledging the priority of seating customers before any of those type of tasks. We were finally sat down and the service was so slow. We heard two other tables also complaining about the service. I had to fill my meter 3 times during the meal. From start to finish, 3 hours to have lunch! No apologies were given during the meal. The positive was the food was not bad, but there were many things on the menu that weren't available that day. I may give this restaurant another chance, but would not recommend it for anyone in a hurry. read more

I work in Millburn and am always on the look out for new restaurants. This one is downstairs from my office so obviously very convenient to stop in for lunch. I initially thought it was a Greek restaurant but it's much more diverse from that. I'd call it modern Mediterranean with some dishes like Angry Shrimp and a California Burger that are even broader than that. The owner/chef comes from a great pedigree and I feel fortunate that he's brought his eclectic talents to Millburn. I've eaten here twice already for lunch. The service is great, very friendly and warm staff. The complimentary baklava after chatting with the waiter throughout lunch was a generous touch and extremely well done. Great taste and texture. The lunch starts with a complimentary spread, pita, and kalamata olives. The pita is traditionally thin and doesn't make me feel as guilty :). I've started with tzatziki for the table. Thick with little cucumber slices. Fantastic kick-off. My appetite begins to grow. To keep it light for lunch, I've ordered the tomato / watermelon salad both times. Generous portions, fresh ingredients, very light and refreshing. A really nice blend of ingredients. I was fortunate that others at the table with me have let me try their plates. I can tell you that the salads are awesome. Several unique choices in addition to the traditional Greek salad. The octopus was fresh and cooked perfectly. Not rubbery! And came with a nice side of mashed 'I don't know what but it tasted really good'. Nice location, outdoor seating, and plenty of leg room. What more can you ask! read more

This new Greek/Mediterranean restaurant on Main Street in Millburn welcomed two of us as if we were entering our best friend's home. The service was excellent and friendly. We shared a tuna tartare tower which was lightly flavored with fresh herbs and quite satisfying as a first course. One of us enjoyed a large portion of salmon with farro and spinach, a tasty combination, and the other enjoyed a delicious seafood risotto. Both entrees were well prepared and fresh. Since we needed to depart for a performance at the nearby Paper Mill Playhouse, we did not have time for dessert but we will surely return to this chef/owner excellent restaurant. read more

When I called I was told to come back and pick it up, the manager was extremely rude and was not willing to help in any way. Didn't offer to deliver or give back credit, had a really bad attitude. Horrible service.!! We live in town but I'm never going back, a lot better options are available in Millburn. Stay away from EVOO. read more

Food here is as good- enjoyed the grilled octopus and calamari. The salad we ordered was a little underdressed but decent. Servers were attentive - they forgot one of the items we ordered and noticed at the end of the meal and were very apologetic which was appreciated. Simply Great food with great service! My wife and I came here with friends that already had a very good experience with dinner here. I had the Greek salad which was excellent , made with fresh quality ingredients. Most of us ordered branzino for the main dish and I can attest that all the dished were scrapped clean after we were done with the fish. The great baklava for desert was a prefect ending for a fantastic dinner experience. The chef spoke with us at the end of the meal and we asked Gina bout his background ... it turns out he was trained in Greece and Italy and is a graduate of the CIA in New York. I could not not-write a review for EVOO & Lemon! My friends and I were looking for a place in the neighborhood where we can have a small get-together/birthday dinner with some seafood. Based on the reviews and pictures on YELP, we decided to try out EVOO & Lemon. And we cannot agree more that we have made a great choice. From the moment we stepped in till we walked out, we were warmly welcomed and served with great hospitality. We started off our first glass of the wine that we brought in (it's a BYOB place) with the welcome-bread served with hummus and pickled olives as we were seated. Three of us ordered the grilled octopus and mussel for the appetizer and the branzino (whole fish came with a side of grilled string bean) and scallops with a side of sautéed spinach for the entree. The food was amazing! All dishes were served in generous portion of which we thought we would not be able to finish but we managed to clear all.
