This is one of those communities that's tucked away, off the beaten path, but is still one of the best values and has so many opportunities for fun! The community management really goes above and beyond to have great events for their residents, leveraging all of the amenities to make the most of the experience living here! When we first moved in, Jaden had helped us both find the right unit for our budget, getting everything lined up in the application, and helping us move in! So far, we love the quiet, but vibrant nature, and look forward to spending the next year (or more) at Holly Crest!

So, I go from auto payments to a 4 day notice of how I have to pay before getting late fees HA. Don't bother yourself with spending $25k to $35k a year on a horribly managed place like this, nothing "luxury" about it. NO security whatsoever, multiple dozens of cars broken into throughout the year, homeless people living in the woods and bathing in our pool because it is unlocked, many people showing up outside of the community to use the pool and amenities we pay for. Not a single effort to get cameras placed outside in the community at the request of hundreds of residents AND Huntersville Police. Staff will do anything and everything to make more money off of you and have ZERO interest in giving solid customer service, snotty unprofessional morons know nothing about discipline and standards. Each year your rent will go up $40-$60 just because they know you won't move due to a small increase like that. 0 out of 5 stars for the money I've spent at this place. Turn and run and get yourself a house instead. Nothing is worth the headaches you'll deal with here.

The internet is absolutely horrible and it's been an ongoing issue since the day I moved in. Constant outages, unusable speeds, and empty promises that "it's being worked on." They even said they'd reimburse us multiple times for the inconvenience, but of course... that never actually happens. Dealing with the leasing office is a nightmare. The property manager and leasing agents are rude, dismissive, and honestly just caddy. Instead of helping you as a resident, they seem more focused on finding ways to squeeze every dollar they can out of you. They hit you with ridiculous fees after the fact, often without warning, and will conveniently "forget" to mention certain things up front until it's too late. It feels shady and predatory. And don't even get me started on the amenities. So many things they promise when you tour the complex either haven't worked for most of the time I've lived here or were never actually finished in the first place. For 2+ years, multiple advertised amenities have been broken, closed, or simply not installed at all. On top of all that, car break-ins are a huge problem here. It happens way too often, and management does next to nothing about it. It's ridiculous to be paying this much and still feel unsafe where you live. Overall, this place is all about appearances. They sell you on a lifestyle they don't deliver, then nickel and dime you while you deal with unreliable internet, unhelpful staff, safety concerns, and amenities that may or may not exist. Look elsewhere!! It's not worth the stress or the money, especially in university area.

The property is beautiful and always kept cleaned and well maintained. My apartment was a dream! Pros: Best management I have ever dealt with. Maxwell goes above and beyond and deserves a raise if he hasn't gotten one already. He was so attentive and kind the entire time my child and I lived there. He always responds quickly and makes sure you are happy as a resident. Ground Keeping - Stacy was also amazing! He too was attentive and always made sure you were comfortable and lacking nothing. The turnaround time for maintenance requests was so fast! (Also deserves a raise!) The woman who kept the insides of the building/lobby (so sorry I can't believe I'm not remembering her name) is one of the kindest women I have met. We always had a quick chat and was so pleasant. I observed her at times when cleaning and she was always thorough and never took short cuts! She too deserves a raise! I mention these three particularly because they made my time there feel valued and safe. I never had to worry. The rest of the team always had a smile, was kind and helpful as well! CONS: Literally zero! Suggestions: The only one would be maybe in the future have a heated pool since it is open all year around. Thank you Kendry for a memorable stay! It was seriously the best!

It's great until you have a problem - then you're up the creek without a paddle. If you like unreasonably loud neighbors (who likely have caused bug issues) - this is your place. Otherwise, avoid it. Update 2: After the leasing office got involved, the noise is 85% down. We are waiting to see response if it starts up again. Update: I have been in contact with the leasing office and have received some support. I will update as this goes on. While the apartment complex itself is great, and we have never have had problems with the complex itself, we have had an ongoing issue with unruly upstairs neighbors who day and night are responsible for loud noises and interruptions, with no intention from the leasing office to help despite the fact we have multiple witnesses and recordings of the noise day and night. We are considering moving and likely will have to fight with the complex to do so, as they require 60 day notice. Just a notice for anyone with sound issues, make sure to get a third floor unit or be weary - if you're unlucky like us, you won't get much help.

Whenever I had a maintenance issue it was taken care of within hours or immediately if it was an emergency. The community is full of wonderful people. I made some amazing friendships with my neighbors here and will be truly sad to leave them when we move. The pool is great and they have plenty of grills around to use. They have a little fenced area and woods for you to talk your dogs to potty. There is also a trail a couple of blocks away. If you are a stay at home mom this place is a dream. You can walk to Harris Teeter, CVS, Publix, or even Earth Fare if you are really adventurous. My spouse and I love that we can walk to Killingtons, a delicious pub that is a 5 minute walk. The apartment itself is not super fancy but the bathrooms were big for an apartment. The carpet is meh, but it's an apartment. I love the little patio we have. So lovely on a warm night in our rocking chairs. I think they are doing renovations so it may be even nicer here. I would prefer this place over other apartments in the area. Better parking than what my friends have across Gilead rd.

Apparently my carpet had a strong pet odor? only lived there for one year, my pet never used the restroom inside, didn't tear the carpet up in anyway shape or form and received baths regularly. So due to a strong pet odor they said the carpet had to be replaced!?!?!? Which is completely BULL! I could understand if my pet was constantly having accidents on the floor or was never given a bath while I lived there for a year, but that wasn't the case. Sounds like a lame excuse to me for them to get free carpet on my expense. Seems like they need a better cleaning service that can take care of standard pet odor. Pet owners beware!!!! You will not receive your deposit back for a simple pet odor. A simple pet odor that can easily be removed with a proper cleaning service.

DON'T MOVE HERE! I…read morelived at this property when it was Ardmore at Bryton and had no major issues. Once Greystar took over and rebranded it as Aventine Apartments, the quality of management dropped noticeably. They changed trash vendors, and the new company frequently broke open trash bags, leaving garbage scattered along the walkways without cleaning it up. They also eliminated the nighttime security patrol, which made the property feel less safe and less cared for. The worst issue came after I moved out. I had paid everything I owed and received confirmation that my account was settled. Months later, they claimed I owed additional rent. I reached out several times by email to resolve it, but management eventually stopped responding and sent the supposed balance to collections. I'm now disputing the charge. This used to be a well-run property, but since the management change, it's been a frustrating experience from start to finish. I would not recommend renting here under the current management. Response to the Community Manager: Michael, I appreciate the response, but several points require clarification. The photos in my original review were taken immediately after the management transition. They clearly show debris in the walkways from broken trash bags. Under the previous management, the trash service provided heavy-duty plastic, canvas-style bags that prevented this issue. The decline in service quality after the acquisition is documented in these photos and was materially different from what existed under prior management. Residents received notice that nighttime patrols were being eliminated after Greystar took over. If patrols were later reinstated or are now being replaced by a courtesy officer, that is a positive development. However, the notice received was clear and reflected the actual conditions at the time. Regarding customer service: my first interaction with Melanie (and yourself) occurred the first month of the management change. Residents received a notice dated November 29, but delivered to our doors on November 30, stating that electronic payments via the portal would not be accepted for December. I've now added this document to the review. The next day was Sunday, December 1. Rent was now due and the office was closed. At the time, my job was in the middle of the largest company-wide project my department has handled in 20 years. My schedule was extremely restricted, and physically obtaining a money order or waiting for ordered checks to arrive through the mail was not feasible. I communicated this to the property team (including yourself) and asked to submit payment electronically outside the portal. With a background in accounts receivable and acquisitions, I am well versed in the complications that can arise during management transitions. I am also aware that a company of Greystar's size is fully capable of accepting electronic payments. Rather than working with me, I was told eviction proceedings would begin if I did not provide a physical payment. I ultimately had to send funds to a friend so they could write a check on my behalf. Later, when I contacted Melanie about the move-out balance discrepancy, she provided a ledger reflecting the increased amount owed. When I responded with the correct charges, proof of those charges, and asked for the adjustment to be made to the ledger, I received no further reply. Based on my prior experience, where communication broke down and I was left to resolve the situation on my own, I reached out to Greystar's AR representative directly. That communication also stalled, and the alleged balance was eventually sent to collections without resolution. I am now disputing the charge. I've included the email thread with Melanie to this review if there is any confusion on your end. My review reflects documented events that occurred during my tenancy and afterward. The issues I described were real and went unresolved. I am still dealing with this nightmare 7 months after move out. My 1 star rating stands and is justified based off of these facts.

The community is quiet and clean and pleasant. The staff is always courteous. For the most part, 99 times out of 100, you're probably going to have any maintenance issue resolved quickly and mostly you will have a good living experience. I had a maintenance issue that was unusual and it was very hard and time consuming to convince the staff and owners of the appropriate course of action. They believed from their inspections that nothing was wrong with our apartment. I knew otherwise and tried to present evidence and suggestions on what needed to be done. It was like pulling teeth. Ultimately, they conceded to my suggestion and it turned out I was right! Shocking. The problem was fixed and I believe they will try to make good on the inconvenience to me, but the process was pretty brutal. I think some of these processes could be improved, and some other routines put in place to prevent issues similar to mine popping up again. But again, my issue was abnormal, so while not the norm, it is something to keep in mind. An apology or acknowledgement of trying to tell me I was wrong when I was 100% correct wouldn't have hurt either, but no one has said "sorry, you were right." But whatever. As long as the problem is fixed I guess.

DO NOT under any circumstances, move into this apartment complex. I get it, you read the reviews…read moreand you think to yourself "Nah, that's just a one-off. It won't be my experience." Trust me. It will be. I've lived in apartments in FL, TX, VA, & NC for over 20 years of varying "luxuries," some having more issues than others but this place is an absolute health hazard. It's a class action lawsuit waiting to happen, just need the residents to band together which might be happening anyway. Go look on Yelp for the real reviews and don't let these fool you. First, these clowns tried to pull one over on me when I moved in, claiming I needed to pay the max deposit when I haven't paid a security deposit of any kind in years. They tried to tell me I was cornered and out of luck, despite my lease agreement not even being legally bound (no security deposit listed and wasn't fully executed), then quickly changed their tune. Then once moved in, issue after issue with appliances in the unit that took literally MONTHS to resolve. Dryer completely broken. Knob sheered off the stove. Can't possibly just swap the appliance from one of the dozens of vacant units on the property that sit for half a year, that's too smart. Instead they send their half-wit maintenance crew to make repairs and order parts that don't last and never come in. Did I mention they are on their fourth or fifth manager in 6 months? Alarm bells yet? Now I'm dealing with toxic mold in my master bathroom to the point I've had to move out of it and seal it shut. I've been sick ever since I've moved in with a persistent dry cough, runny nose, upset stomach, seen two doctors, am waiting on results from a urine test, and consulting an attorney. You can view the results from the air test I conducted attached. Mind you, I'm immune compromised as I have Multiple Sclerosis and am on immune suppressing drugs making this an extremely dangerous situation for me, hence the reason for consulting an attorney. The complex could care less. They sent someone out to look and I've emailed them for two days now to follow up about them sending someone out to conduct their own test with zero response. They won't send anyone out because this is par for the course. They drag these things out for weeks and months. They know about the mold issue and continue to lease these units out, evidenced by the reviews online and the units that sit empty for months if not years. A unit downstairs from me has been empty for more than six months. There's no other reason for that except a structural/environmental issue. If this ends up going to court, it will end up costing them royally in discovery because they can't hide it. A neighbor in another building found mold in her A/C closet and they came by and sprayed bleach instead of actually fixing the problem. There is a reason this place has a ton of vacant units. The location might be incredible but it's not worth dealing with the unsafe living conditions and the absolutely incompetent staff in the office.
