This review is long overdue. I asked Shawn Baker from the carnivore world for a rec in the LA area as I was looking for a doctor who was not a rubber stamp for establishment medicine. He said Gary Shlifer. The rest is history. I live in the West Hollywood area and trek out to Woodland Hills to see Dr. Gary; that should also speak volumes if you know what LA traffic is like. I consider myself to be a quasi-carnivore now who has worked some things back into my diet, where beef is central to my plate. When I first saw Dr. Gary, I complained of chronic morning headaches and daytime fatigue. He immediately recognized it could be Sleep Apnea and set me up with Dr. Gabe Adorjan, who is now my dentist and sleep specialist. My prior dentist casually dismissed my complaints as mere teeth grinding. Sleep Apnea got promptly diagnosed via a sleep study and is now gone. That's just one example of the exceptional care I've gotten. I get incredible nutrition advice too because, after all, food is medicine. Supplements play a role too and Evolve helped me understand what supplements would be helpful. Dr. Gary interprets labs in a way where a value being out of the reference range doesn't mean there's necessarily a problem; in fact, it could be indicative of good health. The staff at Evolve exceed expectations too. Dr. Gary has a prescient eye for talent. A big shout out to Jocelyn and Alvaro, who take the concept of "going above and beyond" and absolutely thrash it. The entire office does an admirable job of staying on top of all the latest health trends too in today's chugging-from-a-firehose news environment; while, crucially, thinking critically about trends based on data as they arise. The open-minded integrative approach at Evolve reigns over all others. I typically leave the office having learned something new. One other important thing to note is that I get visibility on insurance and billing questions too. Evolve is the way. read more

They straight up lied to me and screwed me over with my medication authorization. Definitely unprofessional at times with plenty of poor communication. But ultimately what I took away from my time with them was that it isn't about helping patients but squeezing as much money as possible from every person that walks through the door. read more

DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU HAVE A CHRONIC ILLNESS like Type 1 diabetes, asthma, or similar life dependent care. My previous review from 4 years ago was glowing. See below. I was a patient here for 7 years and it means nothing to them. THEY HAVE GONE SEVERELY DOWNHILL WITH THE NEW STAFF. This USED to be a great place when Dr Gary was running it. The new staff is horrible. I started going here about 2017 and LOVED Dr Gary. However, this is a place that now has ZERO compassion or understanding of people with chronic illness. The new staff is rude and very difficult. They threaten to withhold medication/prescriptions without an immediate appointment even if that medicine keeps you alive. So if you are busy or traveling you will be in trouble and without life saving medication. And they are too disorganized to call you weeks before your medications expire and ask you to make an appointment. So the pharmacy tells you you are out of refills and then their office denies refills until you come in for the appointment creating panic and confusion if you need your insulin or life saving asthma medication. They changed all their policies and have zero care for how tenured of a patient you are. They manufactured all of these new policies just to squeeze money out of you that no other doctor has ever implemented in my 46 years of seeing doctors. They manufacture these policies which have no basis in law or necessity. They refused to issue a prescription for a medication when I had a severe lung infection even though, with the previous staff, I used to get it all the time with a phone call because its proven and safe. Forcing me to go to urgent care because they have ZERO comprehension of the importance of being able to breathe. So they take ZERO interest in your previous medical history with them so they can keep you coming in and billing you and your insurance. I understand needing to make money but I have never had issues like this with them or ANY doctor before. Its all the new staff. Another example: When you do blood work, you need to fast. In the last seven years I sometimes forget until I look at my schedule and make a mistake and have a coffee. I used to call and apologize since its only a quick appointment for blood draw and we would reschedule. Now they gave me some nonsense about needing to charge $50 for a no show for bloodwork even though I I called, explained, and asked to reschedule. Everything has changed here. Very disappointing. This used to be a great place with compassionate care and compassionate employees. I really loved everyone here. I will be moving on now. PREVIOUS REVIEW: "Great place. I just cannot recommend Evolve Healthcare enough! Dr. Marina Shlifer was the podiatrist who finally helped me get relief from a bone spur in my toe. I appreciated also that she was not trying to give me false hopes, or to attempt unnecessary procedures. In the six months since I saw her in January 2024, I've had zero toe pain. The entire year prior I was miserable. So thankful for her gentle, knowledgeable, kind expertise! I also saw Dr Christopher Dan at Evolve for an overall health checkup at a separate appointment. I was so glad and to talk with a doctor who looked at my bloodwork and was supportive of my no-medication, carnivore-leaning food preferences. And once again I experienced that Evolve strives to provide the best health service to patients. It may sound trite, but I felt like they partner with us as patients instead of being condescending. Where do I even begin?! Dr. Gary Shlifer has been my primary doctor for a little over a year now and I won't see anyone else! To start, the wait time has always been near non-existent! I believe the longest I've ever waited was maybe 5 minutes. He manages to get me feeling my best in a few short days every time a health concern arises. Actually, after dealing with awful hives and eczema for over 7 years and seeing countless dermatologists and other physicians, Dr. Gary is the only one who has managed to bring my inflammation down significantly after doing the proper tests on me to nail down my issue. And he did it all without medicine!! Actually, that's my fav thing about him. He doesn't push medicine down my throat like most physicians have, in my experience. Over this past year, he's managed to restore my health, naturally, through IV Drips, natural supplements, and lifestyle changes. He's a great doctor, specializing in osteopathy, pushing natural remedy whenever possible, while still recommending traditional medicine when appropriate as well. IMPORTANT INFORMATION for anybody with tendon damage from floroquinolones. I have gone to this place for glutathione IV. I did the glutathione IV because of brain fog that I have had since I was put on a very sedating antidepressant (Mirtazapine) that I was given for insomnia 10 years ago. It didn't help with that. However, to my surprise, after two treatments with the glutathione my severely damaged shoulders and Achilles tendons started to heal up. I was given Levofloxacin in February 2017 and on day 5 I woke up with extreme shoulder and Achilles pain. One shoulder was totally thrashed, the other shoulder was bad and both my Achilles tendons were extremely tender. Exercise was out of the question for me. I was taking liquid magnesium daily which helped to a degree but as soon as I stopped taking that the pain became worse again. Essentially I saw absolutely no improvement of my tendons for 1.5 years until I started glutathione. After two glutathione IVs of 600 mg each, one week apart, I noticed a significant improvement. I did a total of 5 over 5 weeks and then took a break for 4 months, during which time my tendons just kept healing on their own. A total miracle. I decided to do 5 more IVs because I felt a slight tenderness across my Achilles tendons and a tiny bit of pain occasionally in one shoulder. To this day I cannot detect any pain in my shoulder, even after lifting weights. My Achilles tendons are 95% improved and what is left does not even bother me. I will still go for another 5 treatments to see if I can get rid of the last 5%. This place has very friendly staff, the doctor is a bundle of energy, it's in a cozy building, clean and fresh and they had the best price for glutathione IV that I could find anywhere in the area. Dr. Schlifer noticed I was wearing an N95 mask. He proceeded to state that masks "don't work" to prevent the spread of Covid. I was shocked to hear such a completely unfounded, unscientific, ridiculously irresponsible statement from a "doctor". It is extremely irresponsible to say that as a doctor to people, especially when legitimate scientific journals state the exact opposite. I don't know if this is just his opinion or where he's getting his "science", but it's completely unfounded and wrong. There is zero debate to be had on such a well studied and researched topic. Don't spread scientifically false information, even if you're deluded enough to believe it. Assuming you know better than the CDC, the Chief Medical Advisor of the country, and countless other medical and scientific experts in infectious disease (when you specialize in weight loss and selling soccer moms anti-aging cream and went to a no-name, unranked "medical school" in Arizona) is so ignorant, arrogant, oblivious, and negligent. I want to start by saying that this will be a long review. If you care about a detailed review, then please read on. I want to start with the great front office personal, Bessie. She was very friendly and professional. I asked for a last-minute appointment over the phone. I was able to be scheduled the same day. Luckily I was able to get an appointment that fit my schedule. Once I got to the office, I was greeted very warmly. Since it was my first time visiting the office, I had to fill out some new patient forms. Dr. Gary then came out also greeted me warmly and asked me why I visited the office. I told him since my period last week I've felt so tired, out of energy and would get headaches very easily and lasted a long time, basically the whole day. He gave me great advice on how I can get better nutrition with the foods I've been eating and thought I was getting the best nutrition out of them. Since I told Dr.Gary that I did not like taking pills and would rather eat foods to get the iron, I thought I needed. One of the many tips he gave me was to boil the spinach I was eating to get the best out nutrition out of the spinach. I thought eating the spinach raw was the best, but I was completely wrong. After the introductions were done, I was taken to one of the comfortable backrooms. Dr. Gary talked about the IV process. Step by step, he explained what will happen and why they happen. After Julia started the IV, all three personals, Bessie, Julia, and Dr. Gary, made sure I was comfortable. The IV I got was the Myers' Cocktail with an added glutathione. I didn't feel the effects instantly. I was told it was because I wasn't severely dehydrated. When I woke up, the next day, I felt 100% better. The products improved my energy and my body feels goods again. Even after one day, the effects are still lasting. The biggest improvement was the hydration of my lips. They were so dry for about a week. Even when I would scrub them and put Aquaphor right after, they still felt and looked dry. I would highly recommend coming here! Very unprofessional!!!! 30 minutes prior to my scheduled appointment they called me and requested for me to go in at a later time, I agreed to go in at a later time. When I got to there at the agreed time they had just left me a message letting me know they would need to reschedule to another day. This is not acceptable!! I took time off work and have a busy schedule. More than likely they charge patients when they go in late or miss their appointment. I went to Dr Marina because i had a toe issue ... she was so calm, polite and smart. While i was there i noticed the other treatments they had available and her son, Dr. Gary was an internist.
