I've waited almost two years to write this review because I was so upset at the time. But after everything, I think people deserve to know about my experience.
I went in for a full bleach--something I've been getting done for over a decade--so I know what a proper bleach job should look like. Halfway through the application, the hairdresser casually mentioned that this was her first time doing a full bleach rather than just highlights or partial treatments. That should have been my first red flag.
As time passed, it became painfully clear that things were going wrong. Other stylists in the salon started checking on my hair, and some even offered to help because the process was taking far too long--over an hour just for less than half of my hair. By the time the appointment was over, my hair was a complete disaster. There were pure white stripes mixed in with brassy orange sections--an obvious bleach failure.
Instead of acknowledging the mistake, the entire salon staff took turns looking at my hair, awkwardly assuring me that "it looks good even if it's not what you had in mind." But this wasn't a case of my hair turning out slightly different than expected--this was a clear case of poor bleaching technique. Fixing it properly meant paying a fortune to have each section carefully re-bleached, and they knew that. The dishonesty was the worst part. If they had admitted the mistake and tried to make it right, I would have had more respect for them. Instead, they chose to gaslight me. They knew they had messed up--because at the end of the appointment, the hairdresser offered me a glass of wine, as if that would make up for the disaster on my head instead of taking responsibility.
I was so shocked and frustrated that when they had the audacity to ask me to pay, I did--plus a 20% tip, purely out of disbelief...To fix their mess, I had to go to Holly at The Velvet, who was absolutely amazing. She took photos of my hair, told me she would never have charged me if this had happened in her studio, and even encouraged me to take the issue up with the owner. But after experiencing the salon's attitude, I couldn't bring myself to deal with them again.
This was the worst hair bleach of my life, and I wouldn't recommend this salon to anyone looking for professional, honest service. Mistakes happen, but how a business handles them matters. They chose to lie rather than take responsibility, and for that reason, I'll never go back. read more
