Evolve All is awesome and I am pleased to leave a review of them. I recently checked out Evolve All since I was in town but wanted to train (muay thai/striking) in a friendly learning environment. I was in town for such a short time that it'd be better for me to drop-in classes rather than buying a monthly membership. Evolve All was just the place for that. The owner, Emerson, made me feel welcome when he responded to my inquiry saying that he'll find me someone who'll work with me. That special attention to individuals is definitely what separates a warm/welcoming gym from the rest of the pack. When I went to train, I saw how beautiful the space is. Green and white mats lined practically everywhere. Coach Elijah worked with me and another student and I can honestly say that if I were still in Arlington, VA (I returned to Philly), I would be a member of Evolve All because of my interactions with the staff/coaches, the facility, and the training + community there. Overall, Evolve All is a great family-oriented gym. I can't recommend it enough for anyone who is searching for their next spot to train and looking to level up while still feeling like part of a friendly/welcoming community. read more

This review is from the perspective of someone new to DC and new to martial arts. I tried two other gyms before settling on EvolveAll. There was hardly a contest, in terms of the welcome my roomie and received, as well as the kindness of the staff and owner. I chose a BJJ membership where I have the opportunity to join about three classes per week (as a beginner, more as you grow), access to a weight-lifting space, and free reign to practice rolling when there is a free mat. I CANNOT speak enough about the amazing crew that runs EvolveAll. The owner and general manager take the time to truly make you feel welcomed and excited to be in their space. The instructors are of the highest level and ensure that you understand new moves and drills on an individual level. They make sure to invite experienced members to the beginner classes so that way new members can train with someone who's comfortable with the movements. I HIGHLY recommend EvolveAll for individuals of all ages, skill levels, and fitness. Every class starts with some conditioning, goes into a couple of moves, and ends with optional free rolling. read more

After being absent from martial arts for a long time, I decided that I kind of miss practicing and needed to find a gym that would be a good fit for my needs. I also enjoy crossfit, bootcamp and zumba workouts and practice yoga. So when I saw what this school had to offer I felt like it was a match made in....match.com. I've tried almost every class available to me and have enjoyed each one. All classes are performed without wearing shoes as they have padded floors and an astro-turf area. It's really cool how they have 3 partitioned training areas. Clean bathrooms and changing areas are also available. Let me go over the menu: Adult martial arts - One hour long and emphasizes on learning and improving on the foundations of any martial art. How to throw various punches and kicks. How to move your body, keep your balance, judge your distance from an opponent, and work on your speed, power and timing. You get to spar with your classmates (wearing pads of course) and attack the punching bags they have. Sparring with classmates is done carefully and gets your body used to punching and kicking and the stuff I mentioned, while attacking a punching bag lets you go full power. There's a great feeling of camaraderie between the students and the classes are fun. F.I.T. classes - Never the same and are well rounded full body workouts. They start off with a 10-15 minute warm-up involving running and ballistic stretching. Then you get to things like various push-ups, squats, ab exercises, running, hopping and lifting. If you want to get into shape, this is an excellent program. Zumba - Very dynamic and fast paced. The music is loud and even has disco lights. Feels like a Latin party. Guaranteed to burn calories and tighten the butt. Yoga - Good for the body and mind. Stretching, strengthening your core and muscles you didn't know you had. It's good to do this after a week of work, stress, and taking the other classes. I opted for the monthly membership at around $75, which includes unlimited classes. It's a great price for all the classes I get to jump into. They do have other pay options to suite your needs. Especially if you prefer to just drop in whenever you feel like it and don't want the monthly charge. So whether you are into fitness, want to get into fitness, want to learn martial arts, like to dance and shake that thang and need some yoga to balance all that out, this might be the place for you. read more

My kid has been going there since kindergarten. She started as a shy kid who would run and hide and not pay attention. 5 years later she loves karate, is slowly advancing her belt, and most importantly learning the hard work and skill taught by a wonderful group of instructors. The instructors care for her mind and body, teach her really important life skills that go far beyond the karate studio. The management cares about kids. This place is not a belt factory, it is a place of learning and belonging. read more

Just to give an update, today we had to go in to drop of something and I had been having a horrible migraine for 4 days as I usually get them. Samson the massage GURU, kindly asked if he could do a massage to aliviate my ailment....to be honest I said yes just to nice but I really didn't think it was going to help.... I was SO WRONG!!! He was able to take away my migraine that I had been having for 4 days in a matter of minutes!! He has some serious magical hands I am telling you! If you need a massage to relax, aliviate any migraines, definitely stop by and ask for Samson!! He is the best!! read more

If any place that can help to build or develop a child to become a respectful and confident child, this place can do it. This gym is a community developed and run by people who lived and grew up in the Arlington area. Recent location was Creative Arts Center on Columbia Pike. My Son Jaden goes to Evolve All and hes become more confident and outgoing since attending this place. The owner Emerson is an PASSIONATE instructor and so is everyone that works there. They teach core life values while instructing kids martial arts with the freedom of self expression in that art. This gym is still new and works to develop kids, adults, and the community to grow in healthy positive way. I dont know any other martial arts gym that has this many caring and passionate instructors anywhere in this location. I think this place is great for any child or family to be apart of. To me the people working there are a family itself. Im glad to have my son learning and growing at a place like this. I would recommend any family to this location. read more

for months and months, my left shoulder hurt so badly that i couldn't put on/take off a t-shirt without advanced planning. i'd have to get into a certain position, maneuver my arm through the sleeve, and sloooooowly wiggle in/out of it. it eventually dawned on me that it was NOT normal to be in that much pain just trying to get dressed/undressed and decided to try physical therapy. i was looking at the studio website (my daughter is a long time student of martial arts here) and i saw that they had a physical therapist on staff: brian samson. i don't even know where to begin, so i'll start at the end. after working with him once a week for 3 months, i have near total movement restored to my arm/shoulder. no more dreading the dressing/undressing experience. over the years, i have had PT on other parts of my body, but i've never had such obvious positive results before. brian is so knowledgeable, a good listener, so kind, so competent....i feel incredibly fortunate to have him work with me to regain a full range of motion. thank you brian. you made my life so much better!!! read more

In November of 2014, I got wind that Evolve All wanted to offer yoga classes to their members. I was presented with the opportunity to take a trial class before it was available to the public and was hooked ever since then. I have taken yoga classes before but since I'm not a master yogi, I've always felt intimidated by the competitive atmosphere some yoga studios have; however, not at Evolve All. Sarah's style of teaching allows all types of yogis to enjoy each and every class without feeling intimidated or judged. She allowed me to find my own rhythm, helped me understand my body's limitations, and encouraged me to go beyond them without injury. The Evolve All staff and Master Emerson are absolutely amazing. The patience, attentiveness and instruction given to everyone is truly extraordinary. After trying many extra curricular activities with 4 children we found something not only worthwhile in a one dimension manner but something that is part of a lifestyle. We started with one child and now the whole family (including mom and dad soon) are involved and learning. Enough cannot be said about Master Emerson and his approach. This is the best martial arts studio in the DMV, hands down. We are a family of 6 and have been going to EA for almost a decade. All of my children have participated in the youth program. My girls are still at it and my oldest son (16) participates in the jiu-jitsu program. EA has almost been a second home for them. My wife has enjoyed a number of fitness classes at EA and we both have benefited from the massage program's magic to help with tired and sometimes uncooperative muscles. At 51 I decided to jump into the jiu-jitsu program. I wasn't going to let my kids have all of the fun! I love the jiu-jitsu classes. It is an incredibly effective martial art that you can safely participate in at any age. There are a number of us who are "well seasoned" and we have a grand time. EA has a true sense of community and we have a group of friends we have made over the years as the result of our involvement. It will be immediately obvious to you when you go that all of the instructors truly love what they do and take a genuine interest in the students. And believe me, if you ever got into a scrape you'd be damn lucky to have any of them on your side. I would highly recommend this yoga studio! The instructors are knowledgeable and they offer a variety of classes. Some of the yoga classes are geared more towards relaxation while others are meant to get your heart rate up and increase strength and tone. Their packages are affordable and the scheduling is very flexible; I was able to go to as many yoga classes as I wanted over the course of the month. Everyone is so friendly and I have such a great time at each and every class! read more

We received a free belt from a long time student at Evolve All and thought "Why not?" and signed my two oldest boys up. It's been love ever since! I enjoy watching the classes and especially how the instructors interact with the children. They are firm and focused but kind and understanding at the same time. The students are great, too. I've never heard any negativity coming from any of them and they are all very helpful to each other. My oldest son enjoyed the free trial weeks so much that he insisted I *had* to sign him up. He has Aspergers and low muscle tone and, because of those limitations, has quit pretty much every sport we've signed him up for after the first few practices. I knew Evolve All was the right fit for us after he told me that yes, it was hard work and he's very tired after every class but he really, really likes it. And I should mention that my sons both think the Evolve All staff are total rockstars! I highly recommend Evolve All. read more

He is creative and hugely resourceful in how to keep the workouts interesting! No matter what stage in my life I am at, he keeps me active and gaining strength. My daughter started youth martial arts classes on a whim (her friend was signed up) about 9 months ago. Given my own past experience with karate, which was very brief and not positive (I was 5 years old), I was blown away by how quickly the instructors....actually, the whole staff....get to know not only the student, but the whole family, and really welcome you in. More importantly, I was impressed with their patience, their enthusiasm, and the way they mix in fun with lessons about responsibility, discipline and respect in a way kids can understand. The end result is that it was the first time I got to see my daughter both struggle and excel at something (if that makes any sense)...in other words, the first time I really got to see her GROW. Oh, and they convinced me to sign up for a strength training class with Brian, who really has a lot of knowledge about how to gain strength while avoiding or managing lingering soreness or injuries. If nothing else, he's taught me ways to vary my routine and actually get results out of weight training. One of these days, I'm eager to try one or more of the other adult classes. read more

I LOVE the yoga at Evolve All. The classes are great for beginner to advanced yogis. The community is fun, supportive and welcoming. The yoga isn't competitive and it is all about finding your own level and working to get stronger and more flexible. I attend classes with Jen, and the participants range in age from teens to seniors. Sarah's classes are also awesome, a little faster paced, and super fun. If you are looking to increase flexibility and strength in a supportive, non-judgmental, social environment, Evolve All yoga is for you. Massages by Jen are also amazing. Best I've ever had. Evolve Martial Arts has a hidden gem in it that most people in the area don't know about. I'm talking about Cesar Cabrera who is a Renzo Gracie Black Belt and studied directly under Renzo in New York City. He is on Renzo's team and taught in Renzo's School in NYC, which makes him a first-generation Gracie student from one of the best BJJ masters in the world. That's hard to come by and here is here in the Washington Metro area teaching. Cesar has been with, trained under and worked with some of the best in BJJ. Only due to his great humility do most not know the real story about Cesar, but he has taught many people from Street level guys, Police, military, adults, children and even Hollywood celebrities. He isn't just some BJJ instructor, he truly is a modern-day Samurai like warrior, with backgrounds in Tae Kwon Do from Master Choi (Who is a DC TKD legend), Kung Fu, Karate and of course is a Gracie Black Belt with both street and tournament level experience. I have a black belt In Ed Parker's Kenpo Karate (Not an easy system to master) it took me ten years to earn my Black belt and I taught Kenpo on a Military base for over ten years. I taught in three different Kenpo Schools over the years and as a teenager I studied under the Jhoon Rhee TKD system for many years. Before that I was a Judo guy with the Oriental Sports Academy. I'm not endorsing Cesar lightly, I speak from the standpoint of a life-long Martial Artist (from the age of four) and a government Firearms Instructor. Cannot say enough great things about EvolveAll!!! We have been extremely happy with the level of instruction my son has received and the discipline he has learned during his time here. My son loves coming to classes and continuing to advance his martial arts skill set. He has learned so much in a short amount of time and cannot get enough of this place. I started out taking the beginner jiu jitsu class with Emerson, then began attending the striking class with Herill and all-levels jiu jitsu with Cesar. And I'm hooked on it. I've had days where I get off work and I feel terrible; I just want to sit on my couch and drink a beer. But I'll push myself to go to class and I'll feel a thousand times better afterwards. I learn something new every day, and everyone -- instructor and student alike -- is super helpful and super nice. I recommend anyone who is interested in checking out a fitness or self-defense class to come by, and you'll realize the same thing that I've realized: Evolve All is about more than just fitness and self-defense -- it is a community! read more

Evolve All has raised the bar for both Martial Arts and family fitness. Formerly known as Creative Martial Arts, the new studio in its new location has done just that "evolved." While staying true to the discipline of Martial Arts Evolve All has expanded its program and now there is something for everyone. My son is part of the Youth Martial Arts program and is so excited to try the new martial arts tricking classes now offered at Evolve All. The staff here is so passionate, dedicated, and always have welcoming smiles. That energy, passion, and dedication is passed to the students in the class and you can tell that they truly enjoy learning and training with the staff. I am completely hooked on the Zumba classes and judging by the turn out for each class, I'm not alone. Tried yoga this morning at Evolve All and it was everything I had hoped for. The Wednesday morning class is restorative, meaning slower paced and really focusing on correct form. Jen, the teacher was welcoming and helped me with poses--I am returning to yoga after a long absence. Today's class was free and I'll be taking advantage of the drop in option in the coming weeks--evening and weekend classes don't fit my schedule right now so the weekday morning is perfect. It sounds like they have tons of other classes (like Brazilian jiu-jitsu) that I'd love to try in the future. Your first class of each variety is free, so you're able to try classes you're not sure about. So glad I finally have a yoga place! read more

Outstanding for kids and adults! Very caring community of instructors and families, focused on the mission of helping people develop skills and confidence in a welcoming atmosphere. All the instructors are terrific with kids of varying ages. They run camps for kids during the summer and during days when local schools have teacher work days, etc. Also occasional "parents night out" when they have activities, pizza, and a movie for the kids. Check out the Saturday morning adult yoga, and the 3x a week Zumba classes for fun extras! We've been involved for over a year and love it. read more

I love this place! The adult classes are all fantastic, and I've tried them all. Yoga is great because Sarah and Jen are very welcoming to beginners and can easily teach to every level. They really stress that it's an individual experience and not competitive. I have also tried martial arts, which is something I never thought I would do. They have great instructors who really pay attention to individual growth and, again, all levels are welcome! They also have a gym basics class and cardio rhythm. Lots of variety! My children have done the after school program and kids classes for six years. It could not be a better environment, and character building is very important to the instructors. I highly recommend Evolveall to everyone, whether you are brand new to exercise or already conditioned. You're not just joining a studio, but you're joining a community.
