When I first joined, I paid a $90 sign-up fee, followed by $45 bi-weekly payments (approximately $90 per month) for their "Active Hours" membership. The 24/7 option is $56 bi-weekly, which comes to about $112 per month. Initially, I accepted these costs because the location was very convenient--close to my home and practical for my daily routine. Overall, this is a good gym. It has almost everything you need for a solid workout, regardless of your goals. I went 6-7 days a week, and the staff was consistently friendly and kind. However, what I find disappointing--and what many would consider poor business practice--is the lack of clear disclosure in the membership contract regarding what happens if you need to cancel early within the first year. Due to recent life changes, I have to move out of state soon. What I expected to be a difficult, even sad, conversation about leaving a gym I truly enjoyed turned into a discussion about "fine print." I was told I had to pay an additional 30 days of membership along with an "early buyout contract cancellation fee" of 150$. In my view, that fee feels like nothing more than a way to ensure the gym still gets its money--almost as if the gym is struggling with low monthly membership numbers and trying to protect its income. Membership fees are already high in this economy, and an exit fee that was not clearly explained at the time of signing only adds to the frustration. To make matters worse, I later discovered there were other benefits I wasn't told about--such as access to personal trainer classes and gym-hosted events. While I didn't necessarily need those, it would have been nice to know they were available. Another area for improvement is bathroom cleanliness. My routine included showering after workouts, but the bathrooms and shower areas were not well-maintained, especially given the standards the gym claims to uphold. All that said, this gym does offer a great environment and excellent equipment for a comfortable workout. But the business practices embedded in the contract need serious work--specifically around full disclosure. People looking for a better gym deserve to know exactly what they're signing up for, including any expensive and potentially unnecessary fees. When the previous owner was in charge, no damaged equipment existed and if anything was damaged during the day, it was removed, and replaced. The current owner "Tim", most every bench, elbow rest, or seat has black tape covering tears; most of the bench press bars are severely bent leaving one out of six bars safe for use. You sign a contract for a monthly fee only to get billed twice the agreed upon amount. When you call "Tim" to resolve the issue, no return phone calls, not from him or anyone from the cesspool of a gym. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME, MONEY, OR ENERGY ON THIS PIG PEN!!!

The staff and members do more than just workout at the box. Several competitions and events throughout the year bring everyone together. The owners and coaches are all fantastic. Why haven't you worked out here yet?…read more I'll be frank: SkipJack CrossFit is where it's at. If you want to be pushed to excel, get a killer workout, laugh your butt off with your fellow athletes and coaches, get that clean and jerk/snatch/deadlift/OHS PR, then turn around and do CF Striking where you get to burn off all that workday stress by punching and kicking heavy bags, then sign up! The coaching staff is awesome, patient, helpful and willing to help you on anything you want to work on (even if it's after closing time or on weekends). You can tell that they have fun coaching and that makes it easier on us who are learning all the CF movements/lifts. They also won't let you give up on yourself which has really helped me out. I've been going to SJCF for 8 months now and have put on approx 7-10lbs of muscle. I've also adopted a more positive image of myself as I break through mental and physical barriers every week. When I started CF, I don't think I could do 5 box jumps w/o getting winded (and I've always been a runner mind you!). Now I can do multiple rounds of them followed by a slew of burpees, then go run, flip a tire and do it all again. LADIES: You don't have to be ripped to work out here. GUYS: Same goes for you. SJCF scales all workouts to YOUR ability. Even some of our strongest atheletes have to scale workouts from time to time based on an old/new injuries and just 'being old.' I never thought I'd say "I love going to the gym" but I do now. I've been a member for over 2 years now and look forward to going and see all the people I've gotten to know. The classes are the best and taught by amazing instructors that make the classes enjoyable. The hard part is actually having to pick just one or two classes to do in a day when I want to do more than that. I.e Pilates, total core, and power punch & core.... I love them all! Extra bonus is that they have a kids club which my daughter does very well in (almost 4 months old). The girls that watch after her are so nice and I don't have to worry about her while I get a good sweat in. What other gym would the owners gift a onesie for my baby with their cool logo?
