She brought out color swatches and talked through some different options. There's a cute waiting area in a quiet space in the back while your color sets as well. Perfect to enjoy a cup of coffee. They have heated towels for your neck/head during your shampoo as well. Hayley was so sweet and answered any questions I had without ever being sales person-y or pushy (when should I get my color touched up? Bad first impressions are nearly impossible to reverse, but excellent experiences get you talking to your friends. Naturally, the business then needs to follow through with the skill to deliver, and Oceans does so in a massive way. From your first twist of the door knob you feel welcome. Warm people glad to see you, inviting atmosphere, clean, good music. A salon experience can be so intimidating -- cold, judgmental, pretentious -- especially to this man. And I'm not the kind to sit in the classic men's barber shop reading back issues of Dogs and Ammo (nothing against either, please :)). I have never had a better haircut in my 56 years than what Lindsey does for me. She is immediately lovable and I consider her one of the island's treasures. Did feel a little claustrophobic in the little waiting area (where we filled out our paperwork), but they offered us a glass of "soda" and that helped :) I came back for a cut and style with the co-owner Brittany. She was very friendly and easy to talk to. I'm not usually one to be charty during hair cuts, but she was fun, bubbly and showed interest in learning more about her clients.
