This is not a pet shelter as in rescued pets. This is a rare facility and service, and not for…read moreeveryone, but definitely well supported and loved by a particular elite breed of canine. Dog City Day Care is for those dogs who require a life less idle; dogs who are looking to occupy their minds while their master is at work. Dogs who do not wish to spend day in and day out sitting around the home with nothing to do. They require companionship and another bottom to sniff besides their own. If you have a dog who doesn't like to be left home, this day care facility for dogs is really very good. It gives your canine friend a pack to run and play with as well as a present and accountable human being who acts as the top dog for the whole time your pooch is placed here. This top dog human means no fights break out because there is always a masterful guiding voice keeping tabs on who is doing what to whom. It really is a great service if you don't want to leave the dog home every day but have a busy life and can not find the time to keep your precious pooch as pampered and busy as yourself. Let's say you own a big dog that needs a lot of exercise, but you also have a demanding job that sees you at work almost twenty four seven some times. What happens to the dog? Well it may get bored and start to behave badly as a result - but if you drop it off at Dogcity Daycare it will be busy socialising with other dogs. You can purchase a range of items for your dog when you drop them off or pick them up from their day of socialising and stimulating interplay - things like chews and pigs ears... and the friendly staff will let you know if your best friend has behaved well - which of course under the circumstances he or she probably has. It is a terrific service for the right owners and dogs.

And the experience I had was amazing! Dropping Harold off to the care of strangers is a little nerve-racking as Bulldogs have special needs, however the friendly team at Dogcity let me know that he was in safe hands and that I would receive updates during the day, reassured, I left feeling confidant Harold was going to have a great day! The energy and excitement in the centre was amazing, you could really tell that these people love what they do. Before I left for work, I had a look through the viewing window and Harold was already running a muck with his new friends. The thing that took this experience from good to brilliant, was the level of personalised communication I received. During the day, "Harold" sent me a text message with some photos of his new friends (who knew dogs had such skills!): Hi Mum, My new friends have let me borrow the work phone so that I could send you a message; I told them that I'm fine and would rather keep playing, but they've said that it's always important to let Mum's know. Apparently you guys worry about us or something. I'm having the best time. Heston is here and we've both been body slamming. They have a bunch of tennis balls here too, so I've been slobbering over all of those and carrying them around. There are two Huskies, Ace and TJ, who like playing with tennis balls also, so we've been having a great time together. I hope you're having a good day, but I doubt it's as fun as mine - ha! See you later, Love Harold The communication didn't stop there, the team at Dogcity also sent me an extensive "First Day Pawgress Report" When I went to pick Harold up, he was one pooped out pup! The owner took the time to have a chat and let me know how Harold went during the day. Overall, there are a few things that made this experience one that truly stand out, these people LOVE what they do and they make their customers feel so valued with the personalised communication. It's safe to say we will be back!

She came out looking nice, so I was happy, until I got home and realised they had only trimmed her ears and washed her. They didn't even clip her nails or get out her fur mats. I left it and decided I just wouldn't go there again, but then I got a text message saying they hoped I was happy with everything and that they'd see me again. So I thought, okay - this is a great opportunity to say what I was unhappy with and they can try to amend this situation for me. I explained all of the above very politely and they said that the nails and mats should have been taken care of, but trimming would be extra and anyway they hoped I would give them another chance. I said, but I asked specifically for her to be trimmed so I don't know why they didn't tell me that was the premium service and would be extra and I could have said yes, okay let's go with that. They didn't reply. Quite strange that their marketing strategy of a follow up text message would have been very successful if they were willing to accept I was unhappy and given me a voucher/discount for the next groom. Then they would have had a repeat customer. Instead, by not acting on my dissatisfaction, it left me even more dissatisfied so I felt the need to share this review! Anyway, maybe their other locations are better but I won't be using any of them after this experience. Such a shame, because as I said, their staff were lovely.

Today was one of the most terrifying experiences imaginable for us and for Holly…read more This afternoon, while in the care of About Town Dog Studio, Holly was reportedly left in a crate for approximately 2.5 hours waiting for her groom. Distressed and terrified, she managed to bolt from the crate and escape through an unlocked back door straight onto Portrush Road. For nearly half an hour, Holly ran frightened and lost through the streets of Burnside in pouring rain, without a collar or lead, narrowly avoiding traffic and almost being hit crossing Portrush Road. What is most upsetting is that we were not contacted immediately. Instead, Burnside council rangers were notified while we remained unaware that our dog was missing and in danger. Thankfully, the incredible community around Scammell Reserve stepped in without hesitation. People jumped in their cars and helped search the streets for Holly, and because of their kindness and quick action, she was found a short time later. She was trembling, panting, and clearly traumatised by the experience, but thankfully safe and physically unharmed. Groomers have one job: to groom beautiful dogs, keep them safe, and care for them with respect and dignity -- not leave them locked in crates for hours in a high-stress environment. There is no excuse for being overbooked, understaffed, inexperienced, or simply incompetent. This was unprofessional and grossly negligent. To dog owners: please do your research before leaving your furry loved ones in the care of others. To groomers: be responsible and treat every dog as if they were your own. And to everyone who helped bring Holly home safely tonight -- thank you. We are beyond grateful.

There's obviously a demand for their services as they have been around for many years. Much like a puppy party service where all the smaller breeds of dogs can get together and socialise, no big breeds allowed. They can romp around all day long and maybe meet the love of their life, let's just hope there's no hanky panky! For the pet minding they charge $45 for the day or $10 per hour and there are other package deals available. Everything in store is labelled as designer' wear from the clothing to dog bowls, accessories, toys, bedding plus more and even the food would you believe. Pampering zone involves not only bathing but painting their nails, colouring the hair (for fun apparently), and get this 'mud baths' ! What the!! I suppose if I had a small dog and sometimes I wish I could shrink my GS to fit into my handbag, I may consider doing the same. But hey, if you're someone who doesn't have kids or grandkids or care for dogs more than little people then this may be just for you and your furry family. As a note there is parking around the back which is handy and much safer.

These guys give me the option to take out a Total Wellness Plan for each of my dogs which includes for 12 months their shots, worming, flee treatments, first consultant free, and a variety of other benefits at the set price of $295. They generally post out your treatments in the mail shortly before the due dates. Something I that has given me peace of mind and saved me a lot of money. The staff here and very professional and attentive. I've been very happy with how they've handled my pups, their spoken knowledge, and their good use of calming ways of talking to my dogs. They also generally provide treats for the dogs in times of restlessness, which is extremely helpful! Some criticisms I have for Adelaide Animal Hospitals are a couple times I've come for appointments they've been understaffed where I've had to wait up to half an hour past my appointment time, but never mind. I also find some of their prices a tad bit expensive. I think I pay $30 for nail clipping per dog.

This somewhat confuses the issue as to what actually is essential and what is a "normal" procedure. I'd rather not be asked if I'd like IV fluids for the dog during an operation! I guess this is their way of saving costs for us, but hey...I'm not vet trained! That's why I think their Total Wellness Plan is worth considering for $393pa for dogs 10-20kg. It's a twice yearly checkup, includes worming, flea and heartworm treatment monthly and use of their dog washing facility. Hoping it will relieve the stress of looking after our favourite canine.
