I bought a Groupon deal a few weeks ago for 49$ for an indoor one hour photo shoot that included a…read moreCD with all of the images from the shoot, and an 8 x 10 of my choice printed out. The groupon didn't expire until next year, but since I just had a baby I couldn't wait to cheese it up and take some family portraits for a potential Christmas card. Before purchasing the groupon I had called to verify the details of the shoot. The owner explained the package and sounded nice on the phone so I went ahead and bought the Groupon. I called the next day and scheduled my appointment for Saturday October 27th, at 8AM. That was the weekend that Hurricane Sandy was off the coast of Florida, and there was some really chilly weather. I was not worried though as I had booked an indoor shoot, which left me confused when I received a text message and a phone call from the owner saying that the shoot had been canceled due to the weather. While on the phone with the owner he kept telling me that it was raining really bad and they needed to cancel the shoot...etc. I live near Winter Park, and their studio is in Casselberry and I told him over the phone that I was looking out my front door and it was not raining and just windy. I was starting to get really upset, and confused as to why they would cancel, when the owner probably hearing my distress finally asked me if I had booked an indoor or outdoor shoot. Apparently it was never noted on the appointment that mine was indoors at their studio, and not outdoors at Lake Eola (their other Groupon promotion at the time). He said we could go ahead and come in, but the appointment would be rescheduled for 9 AM. I was not very happy with this as I have a newborn baby with me, and 9 AM was his feeding time (that's why I asked for 8 AM), but at this point I didn't care, and just wanted to get the pictures over with. Once we got to the studio things went smoothly, our photographer Sheila (pronounced Shay-la) arrived at about 8:55, and was fantastic with the baby and getting my husband and I to pose in more flattering positions. The studio did have quite a few props (i.e. chairs, benches, toys, etc), but I would assume if you want something special for the holidays you will need to bring it in (i.e. a pumpkin, ornament etc.). At the end of our appointment the owner had time to burn our CD with all of the images off of the photographer's camera, and answered our questions about the 8x10. I also inquired about pricing to bring in my son on a monthly basis, and they said they would work out a deal for clients that came in that frequently (about 39$ per session, as opposed to the usual 49$). Overall, my experience was really great. We checked the pictures when we got home and out of 110 pictures taken I chose about 25 shots that were good (where I look skinny and the baby is staring at the camera) that I could use to make some Christmas cards and a photobook on Shutterfly. I will definitely be back again, and will request Sheila as my photographer! Their prices are incredible, and the fact that you get the CD with all of your images is great. Most photographers for a similar package will charge at least 300$ for this. However, in the future I will verify the details of the appointment the day before so there is no crazy morning-of drama. **Also, gratuity is not included, and I am assuming the photographer works for a low wage. So bring some cash or a check for a tip. I completely forgot, and didn't do this, I feel really bad about it! **Also these people do weddings, Quinces, and other on-location events. *******Also, if you look at your contract when yo get to the studio, although you get a CD with all of your images, they still own the rights to them and can use it in their marketing. So if this bothers you, ask the owner about it.

I also had the Groupon deal for Charlies Angels. I've noticed they do A LOT of these deals. After…read moreI'd bought the deal I checked Yelp and saw some awful reviews that had me leery. A personal friend had used them and loved them so I withheld judgment until our shoot... The morning of our shoot at Casa Feliz (gorgeous location, btw...) our photographer was slightly late. I didn't notice until after the shoot that she'd actually finished early too. Still, we got a disk full of mostly good shots. Our photographer messed some of the shots up with improper setting on her camera. Some shots came out washed and faded looking. Most of them were great so I'm not sure if this was a mistake or was an artistic look she was going for. She was patient with my son who was not being so cooperative and humored me when I suggested certain shots I liked off of Pinterest. So for $45 we got an outdoor photo shoot of about 45 minutes for my family and a disk with about 130 photos. Also included were an 8X10, 3 5X7, and 4 wallets prints, all in all a GREAT deal. I received the disk exactly 10 days after the shoot and still have to call the office to let them know which prints we want. I saw a lot of complaints were in regards to receiving pictures but so far that hasn't been a problem. My main concern was getting the digital disk to order Christmas cards, which I got on time. If things go south I'll update my review, if not then based on my experience with Charlies Angels I'd use them again. On last thing- I thought it was tacky the way that they repeatedly mentioned tipping the photographer. I never tipped a photographer before and definitely felt pressured to do so. We did tip our photographer but probably should not have based on the time issues.

Since she loves taking family photos she suggested we call a professional studio instead of Grouponing it. My sister and I haven't lived in Orlando since college, so we had no clue who the local favorite is. She asked her friends and they all recommended NYU Photography. We called for an appointment and booked it. Got a call from Norman and he threw out some photo shoot suggestions, one being, a walking photo shoot. Never heard of it, but said sure. Nevertheless, it was something quite different than your normal staged Lake Eola photo shoot (although we did shoot there at the very end, lol). We met up somewhere in downtown Orlando at a parking lot and so began the shoot. The background selected was nothing extravagant. The poses suggested were nothing forced. The motivation was casual. I believe his main objective was to have us just be relaxed. It wasn't until after we saw the pictures that we realized that his ability to capture crucial moments was better than we anticipated. Got to talk to Norman as we strolled a few blocks. He told me that he just moved back to Orlando from California and picked up photography as a hobby while working as a Nurse, or Murse, FOCKER!!!!! He said he entered some creative photo contest, won, and began taking his craft more serious. Glad we were able to book such a great photographer in the short amount of time that we were there. I'm sure his clientele has grown since our shoot. So, if I were you, I'd book now. The price was never an issue and the quality exceeds what you pay. Take a look at his work. He is quite the creative, think outside-the-box photographer in Orlando. Thanks Norm!! Good luck to your future. BTW - I had to be the first to do your Yelp review. I'm a Yelper, that's what I do.

Ali is a talented photographer and my salesperson during the photo review section was very sweet and good at her job! They get dinked stars because of the slightly sleazy business model. Like others have mentioned, the pricing doesn't seem worth what they're selling. At time of writing a SINGLE digital image was $450 (because of the copyright). ZERO access to pricing info and package options given before OR during review session, instead their model of selling forces the salesperson to build out "whatever you want" and lots of subtle upselling, ultimately leading you to building a very expensive package that is multiple thousands of dollars and then when you inevitably decline, instead of being able to see all your options they just ask about budget and try to make something else within that range. It feels like this could be optimized but simply asking about budget to begin with OR offering transparent pricing and ALL purchasing options. I'd like to mention that they say their pricing is where it's at due to the enhanced quality of materials since they focus on actually wall art pieces rather than just "framed portrait" or prints etc. so I understand a higher price point but the thing they kept reiterating as the thing that "sets them apart" is their "masterpiece finish" which is a (non-AI apparently ) editing process to make your photos "resemble an oil painting in the style of the 1700s." While that's a cool option many might like, If it's the ONLY thing setting you apart while other studios in the area are offering lower pricing and equally quality art pieces.... I don't know. That style wasn't for me personally so wasn't a major selling point. TLDR: Kind and welcoming staff! Business model could use some tweaking. Ensure you have a hearty wallet if you want the most out of this studio.
