Shameful confessions, I don't read anymore . . . I used to be an avid reader up until college, but I couldn't tell you the last time I read for pleasure. However, I have a son who LOVES being read to, so I've been trying to make a point of buying him books, particularly from independent bookstores, since they're becoming scarcer and scarer every year. We stopped by Everyone's Books and it's what you would expect out of an independent bookstore. It felt a tad cluttered, yet very welcoming and cozy at the same time, if that even makes sense! The books seemed very diverse, inclusive, and topical - considering current events. I almost picked out a book or two for myself, but then I was like, "hahaha, don't even kid yourself!" There were some "sale" books out on tables in the middle of the store, but as you can expect, you are paying list price for most of these books - which we should be happy to do if we want to hang onto the very few bookstores we have left! After perusing the children's book section for a little bit, I picked out two social justice/awareness books for my kiddo. The register clerk lady was pleasant and quick and we were well on our way. However, like 5 minutes later, I returned back into the store after unsuccessfully hunting down a public restroom, and the sweet register lady said she forgot to give me the store's free bookmark, so it was serendipitous that I showed back up. read more

A great book store with a great selection of books especially if you are into social sciences. I came up to visit this book store and walked away with a great book that will help my father with his Sociology research. The layout is good and the employees friendly and courteous read more

Everyone's Books - The book I bought - Books, Mags, Music & Video Near Me - Brattleboro, Vermont

I have been a customer of Everyone's since it opened. Which is quite a while! But today's experience made me think I may not go back. Clerk was cold and unfriendly -- possibly because I didn't the see the "masks requested" sign on the door until I was leaving, and I wasn't masked. Also, a prominent display of anti-Israel books was really discouraging -- as if the wide selection of thoughtful books on the topic of Israel and the Palestinian Arabs didn't exist. There are other bookstores in the region where I feel a lot more welcome. read more

This book store is interesting and has books I haven't seen before (I visit local and used bookstores when I travel). I ended up finding a funny questionnaire book that I found interesting as well as a giant 1,000 Places to See When You Die book- but it was too high to reach. The book store was clean but a tight fit around a few corners. This bookstore carries new books so you won't find any used books. read more

I've gone to this bookstore three times and had a negative experience each and every time. The first time, I was not given help because I arrived 15 minutes before closing and the clerk had "a dinner to get to." The second time, I arrived in the late afternoon with hours to spare before closing. I wanted to ask a question, but the clerks working were busily loudly gossiping with each other. I left. The third time will also be the last time. I picked out two books while listening to one of the clerks loudly complain about Amazon. When I went to the counter, this same clerk ignored me. Yes, I stood in front of her, saw her see me, and was not even greeted. A second clerk was busy on the computer. Neither acknowledged me for several minutes. At the point when I was about to put the books down and leave, I received service. If small businesses want us to shop small, they need to give us a reason to besides simply existing. read more

We first visited Everyone's Books over a week ago. During that visit we, accidentally, left a bag (purchase from another store) on the counter. Since we live about 40 minutes away, we asked if they could drop the package in the mail - which they did. When it arrived we realized that what they paid for the shipping was more than what our credit card was charged - not by a lot - but we still felt bad that they were doing us this favor and it cost them money. So we happened to be going through Brattleboro yesterday and decided to drop the difference off. During our two visits we've been so impressed by this store. The wide ranging and hard to find inventory is amazing (and really fun to look at). The book titles are solid (including children's books) AND progressive. The many other items (flags, calendars, puzzles, journals, etc etc) are radical and welcome. read more

This review is about the selection of books offered and not about the staff. I had limited interaction with the staff, other than at check out, and the cashier was friendly. The five stars reflects my astonishment of the type of books the store carries and the overall sense of inclusion. In a age where there are very few brick and mortar bookstores, it was awesome to find a book store that included multiple voices and perspectives, not just books that represent the mainstream. It was the highlight of my day trip to a wonderful town! I hope to return in the future. read more

Any book store gets two stars simply for being a book store. They can earn the extra stars for the following attributes: One star for customer service -- that is if the store clerks are honestly helpful and don't look and sound like they want to gnaw your yarbles off simply for walking in or asking a question, then you deserve a star. One star for price -- or, are there any deals here? Discounts for club membership? Best seller discounts? Secondhand books? Yes to any of these deserves a star. One star for selection -- how limited and narrow minded are the choices? Is there a broad and diverse spectrum of titles, authors, and subjects represented? If so, another star to you. Everyone's Books gets two stars. It has books. read more

The women who work at this store are always extremely kind to me. I love going to this store when I'm in the area. It's quiet, the prices are fair(unlike toadstool in Keene). They have a good selection of books and other things. Above all, this store is very organized and their bathroom is even clean. read more

Perfectly decent bookstore. Nice selection of remainders and new books. Atmosphere's not worth much.

Lots and lots and lots and lots of books and lots and lots and lots of bumper stickers on lots and lots and lots of problems and injustices afflicting humanity and the globe. So why do the problems keep multiplying by the thousands when so many people have so many answers that they publish in book form? Maybe people need to read less and actually do more? read more

This liberal independent bookstore has an okay diversity and supply of books. Not excellent, but ok. I found a book I wanted to read. The staff- however - were the rudest, perhaps most inappropriate I have come across (which is kind of a lot having grown up in an an independent bookstore). Not only did they bad mouth the owner about having to do a return, and were generally irritating to listen too, but they were snide to me when I asked about a book's author. Not sure they realize how many bookstores there are In the are. You can't differentiate in supply, so you might want to ratchet up the customer experience. read more

The store window is what drew me in..... "Heroines", "Global Woman", "Rightfully Ours", "Girls Who Rocked the World", "Brave Girl".... Doesn't get any better than that!! They had the standard kids books, "Big Nate" series, "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" series, but they also had some books we hadn't come across before & my daughter found a great novel about a girl which takes place in Vermont. They had really fun toddler pop up books & "activity" books with a play mat & pieces to go along with the book. Would have loved to spend hours in here but with two kids in tow it wasn't possible. Only pet-peeve is the pins.... I loved their selection of stickers but was looking for a few of them in a pin instead & the pins were just in baskets instead of on a fabric board & I couldn't find what I was looking for. Honestly, there isn't even room for a fabric board for pins, this place is stuffed full, but they can't sell many pins with them just sitting there in baskets. The woman who rang us up was super friendly. Will we be back? YUP! read more

I have a habitat of over shopping when I venture into this progressive bookshop. Awesome array of books. I could spend hours just going through their amazing selection of bumper stickers. They specialize in books about social change, the environment, etc. The staff is always friendly and helpful. read more

I have been going to Everyone's Books for years because they have a great selection of children's books. The staff are always very helpful and extremely friendly. My son and I really enjoy looking through the bumper stickers and post cards. They have a great selection of fun calendars as well. What really love about EB is they always have intersting gifts for kids, science kits, fairy kits...reasonably priced. Beats the heck out of getting a useless plastic object from Walmart! read more

Excellent store - at first blush it seems to be small and haphazard, but in reality it's very well organized and well stocked. I was drawn in by a book in the window...which I found myself due to the logical categories they use. As is the case in all things Vermont in a college town, there are great stickers and magnets and chocolates. I'd go again when next I'm in Brattleboro - a great town! The person at the cash register was pleasant - no problems with rudeness, but then again, in New England it's not uncommon that a store owner will be rude back to a rude customer. Didn't see that here, however. read more

A decent bookstore. It seems to want to occupy both a leftist/progressive and a mainstream niche, and it somewhat succeeds at both.
