I live literally one block away from Every 6 Weeks and got two compliments on my haircut on my walk home (that's not a big time window for TWO compliments during a weekday). My long bob had grown out into a... something. A tangled, difficult-to-brush, approaching-the-shoulders, flipping-under... something. Now it's a bob that makes my hair look about three times thicker than it actually is without making me look like a 12-year-old. I'm doing the narcissistic shampoo commercial hair toss right now. In and out in exactly an hour with a shampoo, fabulous cut and blow dry. A woman's cut like this will run you $60 but it's absolutely worth it. Don't waste half of that $60 at a not-so-great place. This place is awesome. It's easy to find and near major MUNI lines. The owner is very hospitable even while running around and answering the phone. The ambience is a cool tag art vibe with TV on the wall that was playing the first Alien movie when I was in. My hair stylist, Frankie is a gem. I have been getting my hair cut here for several years now and have had most of the stylists cut my hair. For two years grew my hair out and had not been around in a while so when I had to chop my mop to get a real job I called up E6W. I was promptly set up with an appointment with TISDALE on very short notice which was very convenient. I explained what I wanted done and he perfected my sometimes difficult to style hair. It has been 9 months since the first cut and I return on a regular basis to get my hair cut by this master of scissors. I have even sent some of my closest friends there to get a cut and they are equally as satisfied. This is definitely the place I am going to forever now. The customer service was excellent, my friend and I were able to make appointments for our haircuts together since we both had crazy long hair we wanted to get chopped off. I'm one of those people who don't get their hair cut every six weeks (ha!), and I'm also one of those people who can't really let go of having a certain hair length (long). So instead of going drastic, I went medium. Tisdale was very nice and obviously knew what he was doing. I have to say I did go in there not knowing exactly what I wanted besides "medium length and bangs" but he didn't seem to mind when I asked his opinion on what would look good with my round face. We also had a very nice conversation before I started noticing there was a vampire movie parody playing in the background and the mirrors made it easier for me to watch it and be slightly distracted. I also had a hearty breakfast beforehand, so of course sitting down made me a tad bit sleepy. Long story short, this place is awesome. I did get a discount for being a first time client, and if you add them on Twitter or FB you can get 5 bucks off also. Hooray. I can't believe how long it's taken me to write this review of such a deserving place. 4 years ago I walked into Every 6 Weeks on a whim to completely change my look. Renato did just that. He transposed my ho hum hair to amazing with a cut and color. Two months ago I used a Groupon for a hair color/cut at another salon in the city and experienced the worst color I have ever seen. I forgot the name of my stylist but he is the tatted-out Thai dude. There is only one. My hair style isnt very hip but he definitely fixed that. I didnt walk away with a faux hawk but did walk away with a better, sharper cut that is more modern than what I was going for. I finally have found my spot in SF. Definitely a repeat customer. This place is great and it's run the way a business should be run! I'm not old enough to remember what businesses were like before corporate greed took over, but I imagine Every 6 Weeks would fit right in. Richard the owner is very hip and creative and it shows in the decor of the place. Getting my hair cut is like going to the dentist, it's always been boring and I never get what I want. But it's different here. There is always a TV on playing something cool to watch while you're hair is being cut. I've been seeing Tisdale for the past year and he's always very helpful when it comes to figuring out what I want to do with my hair. Part of my problem is that I never know what I want and that makes it difficult to get what I want, Tisdale helps figure out what would look good with what I kind of think I want! What more can I say but TISDALE is one of the talented and creative stylists that i have gone to in years. He gives me great hair cuts time after time and always makes my visits so enjoyable with his great personality. Great Haircut. I came in with a photo and walked out with exactly the haircut I wanted. This wasn't a clipper-cut or a high-and-tight either, I have sorta long shaggy hair that's usually a pain in the neck to get cut. I didn't get chopped, no bowl cut, left plenty of length. Justin did a great job. Bonus, it was quick and cost $10-15 less than anyplace else I've been in the city. Everyone was friendly and helpful, great advice. This place is quite large for an SF salon, the organic shampoos they use will put you in a meditative trance. The haircuts are very fresh and what's better is that you grow into it nicely, it isn't just a cut that lasts for a week or so. I've been getting my haircut here for over 2 years and will not go anywhere else. The location is perfect and a great excuse to walk to the Castro on a sunny day and the owner (whose name I don't know) is super friendly and efficient at the register in front. I recommend David as he cuts my hair is is just a great person, but all the hair stylists seem great and full of energy. The place also gets incredible sunlight which adds to the great vibe. I don't live in SF but when here, I try to get an appointment with Daniello at E6W. For $40, the price of a cheap 2-week haircut, he gives me a miracle 8-week cut. It looks great with minimal maintenance for 8 weeks. Sometimes they're closed. Sometimes they're swamped. Sometimes I get in. Hooray Worth the effort for me. My regular hair person, Helen, at another shop is considered great but she takes longer and turns me out looking presentable but not looking like I would like to look. Thus I am willing to work for a Daniello apt. And pay $80 cash because he is a balance of art/ skills/ experience that I have found nowhere else. read more

I was disappointed with the switcheroo I received the last time (and it will be the last time) I went to Every 6 Weeks. Emmanuel had been cutting my hair for a few times and I liked the way he cut it and even more so I liked not having to explain how I liked to have it cut. So I made an appointment for Emmanuel to get a simple cut. When I arrived he was sitting there in the waiting area and did not look up and the staff immediately said so-and-so is ready for you. I was confused and did not want to make a fuss so I sat down. What followed was a very long process of how I wanted my hair cut and repeated revisions were necessary before I was comfortable to leave. The guy was new and I cut him the appropriate level of slack. But I got a horrible cut and won't be going back. I did notice that Emmanuel had a cut dye job while I was there. Was I bumped so he could do the more expensive customer? Was I bumped because I mentioned my girlfriend the last time I was there and Emmanuel would barely speak to me during the last cut? His face turned sour when I mentioned her. I'd hate to think there was some hetero bias going on but it was what it was. $40 for a haircut that should take 15 minutes was fairly pricey but I sucked it up as I liked the no fuss no muss sitch that I had experienced until I mentioned my girlfriend. I know....assuming a simple causality is a mistake. So I will conclude that I was bumped to make way for the cut-dye guy that was seated where I should have been. PS: It was odd that the guy that cut my hair (name escapes me) was actually from the same small town in Texas where I am from that I mentioned with my last (meaning never again) haircut with Emmanuel... read more
