I had a question about my membership and knew Encinitas was the only location I wanted to call, the staff always is so much more patient, warm and kind than other locations I've visited previously. Athena answered the phone promptly and seemed to once again, genuinely care about my inquiry. She took as much time as I needed, helping me with any questions I had and further confirmed my inclination towards iTAN Encinitas. I walked in with no expectations two weeks ago. Noel and Winnie greeted me and were down-to-earth, friendly and spent time with me. I had no where to go, wanted a tan and wanted to hear what they had to offer me. I learned about the services available and purchased an unlimited monthly tanning package which suited my needs. The Matrix High Pressure bed has been awesome so far. My experience left me feeling more like a new friend than a customer when I left that day. If you are willing to spend some time with the staff and be patient and allow them to do their thing, they have an opportunity to do the same for you. You don't have to feel like a product on an assembly line, visit this location and you can be treated like an individual and a human being. I go to Itan for spa services. So, am rating them accordingly. They have the beauty angel, which is a big plus (thus, even despite some of my complaints they get a 4!) ! They also give 2 bottles of water to you before your session for the fitwrap. The employees are cordial. The place seems pretty clean except for on my last visit, I forgot my flip flops. Just walking from the fit wrap room to the beauty angel, my feet were so dirty! Really grossed me out! Otherwise, I would have given them a 5. Parking is sometimes hard if the restaurants are busy. They need cable. I couldn't get their DVD player to work & it's not easy to get up during a session, lol. Although they had an iPad. read more

I love the Santa Fe Encinitas location. I've been an iclub member for at least 10 years. Every single staff member (especially Alex, Lexi, and Madison) displays exceptional customer service. They always have a welcoming smile on their face when greeting me upon arrival. They are always cheerful, friendly, and attentive. They remembered my name after only a few visits... I work in the medical buildings next door, so I tan on my lunch break, aware of this, they have my name pulled up on the screen, ready to go in the bed by the time I approach the front desk. I've NEVER felt any sales pressure from any of them. I do however, understand why they have to give a sales pitch, being a former manager of La Costa a La Tan (before it became the La Costa itan). None the less, I have never felt the sales pressure. They have politely asked if I wanted or needed a new lotion on occasion, if I decline, that's it... They leave it at that! They've informed me of current specials and member promotions/discounts... They are NOT pushy or car salesman like. I know what that looks like and they are FAR from it. Their rooms and beds are always clean and fresh. I've NEVER felt neglected or unwanted. Being the manager, Alex is always busy... Always running around doing something.... Cleaning, helping customers over the phone, training or teaching another employer, typing on the computer... Still, it doesn't prohibit her from taking the time to greet me or compliment me or genuinely ask me how my day is going... If that's not exceptional customer service, I don't know what is?! I had a membership with them for a few months. Girls are great. However, I wanted to cancel my membership and was giving wrong information over the phone, 2 weeks later my credit card got charged for my membership. I no longer want to use this and they won't give me my money back. Now I'm out $100 because the staff gave me the wrong information. Monica was no help. Worst service ever Was rude and would talk over me when I was talking to her. Crappiest customer service ever! Beware! They will take your money even if you no longer want their service! read more

Dear Sir or Madam, I arrived at your Encinitas location at 7:55 Friday March 5th to register for a monthly membership anticipating that the location would open at 8:00 am. The young lady working did not arrive until 8:28 am. There were two other ladies waiting with me for 20 minutes who gave up and decided to leave just before her late arrival. When your representative arrived, she waived flippantly and never said a word about being 27 minutes late. She told myself and a new lady that had arrived in an indifferent tone that " I will have to get the beds ready, then I can let you in". I waited a few minutes and then suggested, could she get two beds ready first , then do the others so we could go in? She responded , "you will have to give me a minute, I have to open the store first!". I suggested that I had been waiting 30 minutes. She then replied in a snobby tone and I quote, " well things happen". No apology, nothing. In a strained but calm tone, I replied "things happen , is that what you just said to me? I understand things happen but an apology or attempt to get two beds ready will help" She said "I don't like the way you are speaking to me." I said YOU don't like the way I am speaking to YOU?!" At this point I turned around and left , as did the other women who was waiting outside to tan. She was very upset at the treatment we had received and said she would be calling the manager. So far 4 customers have left upset and its not even 8:40 am in the morning yet?? This is not the way to treat any civil human being , let alone a potential customer, let alone when your representative was in the wrong for being late. An apology, a hurried effort to get us in, any kind of accommodation I would have accepted. But rudeness, indifference, and blaming ME is intolerable and not a way to start Friday morning. Girls are so nice and lovely. The packages seem reasonable. HOWEVER, here is the caveat, in order for these fancy pants machines to work you need some fancy pants serum in combination in order to get the desired results! The serum and creams are about as much as the monthly membership. While I appreciate that none of the girls tried to up-sell me or pressure me to buy this stuff, it would have been helpful to know that the results are useless unless you use the coordinating potions. So, I do the photo facial and cellulite machine but actually getting no results. I was also excited for the body wrap but the bed is old and gross! It does not even heat up all the way. I also did a level 4 and for a whole week a smudge of lotion with a hair stuck to it was on the outer part but after scooting around it to get on the machine and laying a towel down in effort to avoid touching it, I just wiped it off myself. Overall, nice girls, not worth the hassle for outdated, dingy dirty machines with no help as to what you need to do to maximize results. read more

I understand now that there are different districts and management. The Santa Fe location has needed new bulbs in their level 5 booth for a very long time, I found this out by accident, bc I was in San Marcos for business and used their level 5 and was so amazed on the wonderful color I got. I went back and they explained about the districts. Santa Fe apparently doesn't care if their machines are browning or not, so basically just into milking people and have not changed the bulbs in the level 5 forever. I have to drive to Del Mar Heights or San Marcos ( they're in the same district so is La Costa ( but they don't have a #5 ), just to get color. It's completely inconvenient when Santa Fe is just down the street.I have asked many times and told "oh I think the bulbs are fairly new", no color again. We pay a lot of money for bad booths. read more

First, I want to say how much I have always loved my experiences when going into iTAN. However, I write this review in frustration due to the current mandated stay at home order. iTAN has chosen, as a company, not to follow this order and has kept all over their locations open. When I asked a few employees why they were able to stay open they said they were "classified as retail". I did not argue back as I truly thought this could be true, but after further investigating and actually reaching out to the City of San Diego they confirmed that Tanning Salons should in fact be closed as they are classified as a "Personal Service". This is extremely frustrating to know that a large company like iTAN is choosing not to follow the cities guidelines and instead stay open. It's sad for the businesses that are choosing to do what's right and close during this stay at home order because businesses like iTAN are going to keep us in this shut down even longer. It's time to think of the bigger picture and others. iTAN needs to take a hard look at what they are doing and how they are affecting and infecting their employees, business, and the customers that come into their business. Truthfully, it is extremely selfish and looks bad on a company to strictly go against a STATE mandated order. It's unfortunate they will loose business from staying open rather than closing for sometime and retain their clients. iTAN, you need to reevaluate and close during the mandated order. read more

I just signed up with them for the first time and I really like all the cool options they offer. The beginning sales pitch was a bit pushy but they redeemed themselves. Even though I went with the cheapest monthly package, they still let me use any bed for free the first 2 weeks as a THANKS for signing up. I have really got a boost on my tan by using the expensive beds before my freckled buns go back into the cheap one. read more

I have been a customer of iTan for years. I love the Encinitas iTan location the most. The shopping center has just been remodeled, so it's easy to get in, tan, and get out. I can swing through on my lunch break and get some great color. The staff is super friendly and fun. They are extremely knowledgeable and never do the annoying sales pitch thing. Plus the beds are clean and its obvious the place is well cared for. I've been to a few of the locations, but Encinitas is my favorite! read more

My birthday is next week and usually, I get an email from Itan letting me know that I get a free mystic to celebrate. I drove to the La Costa location 6 days before my birthday to tell them that I didn't receive the email, however, I was leaving town for Palm Springs the next day to celebrate my 30th and wanted more color before I left. The girl at the front told me that "Unfortunately, unless you have the email, we cannot honor your free mystic tan. I asked if she could call her manager to see if they would make an exception being that I was leaving town. She called her manager and came back to tell me that they wouldn't be able to provide me with the free tan, however, I could buy a discounted package. I declined and left that location. Later that evening, I called the Encinitas location to see if my not having the email would be an issue. Ivy answered the phone. I told her my situation and she immediately, she responded with "Absolutely, no problem. I have the code here. Your birthday is less than a week away." Ivy's customer service was outstanding. I always have a pleasant experience at the Encinitas location. All the girls are friendly. Sadly, I don't receive the same service at La Costa. It has been that way for years. To the owner - Please acknowledge Ivy for her warm and inviting demeanor. She made me feel special and turned the start to my birthday weekend into a great one. :) read more

This place in Encinitas is a decent tanning spot. The beds are always clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. The prices are reasonable. (think packages). I tend to only tan in the winter months due to working a lot of graveyard hours and not seeing too much sunlight. I feel more energized and normal after coming here. read more

I highly recommend coming to iTan Encinitas. Been a member for 4+ years using the spa services daily. The girls there treat you like family. Noel, Sara and Amber work there almost every day, and when I come in to use the spa services/mystic, they welcome me with a smile, ask how my day is and always make my experience enjoyable. I have been going to this location for a few years here and there when I needed a quick bronzing session during the winter months. I've been using their level 3 and 4 beds always. Two weeks ago I was in the level 4 at maximum time of 12 minutes and it didn't take at all. Last week I mentioned this when coming back asking if I should try a level 3 instead when they were sending me to the same bed. The girls in front looked at each other, said there is no longer a levels 3 but this other level 4 bed has slightly newer bulbs. Well I was in this bed for 10 min turning off the facial after 6 minutes as it was so hot. A few hours later my whole body is on fire, I got severely burnt all over my body (someone who tans regularly and I used spf) and in a lot of pain. The girls on purpose failed to mention that this bed must have had completely new bulbs, which is outright dangerous! I am cancelling my membership and will advice all my friends to use this location to cancel theirs as well. read more
