do not waste your time going to this location if you have a membership and want to spray tan using the Mystic, It is constantly broken. I cannot count how many times I've been there over the course of two years and the machine is not available because it's down for some reason or another. I have to go to a non-convenient location that's farther from my home in order to spray tan due to this constant issue. I have been to the Del Mar location and the Hillcrest location and the La Jolla location and I've never had a problem. These locations are not convenient for me, however I really have no choice because the downtown location never has their equipment up and running! Have also run into the problem at the same location where they don't have paper towel, towels, or run out of baby wipes whoever manages inventory for this location in maintenance is not doing a very good job I would steer clear of this location! read more

Had a fantastic experience here... dropped in during a conference week in San Diego right before heading off to Hawaii. The salon is SO clean! I loved the hi-tech beds and the receptionist could not have been nicer to me! I had a quick sun on my buns and was on my way! I spray tanned (Mystic & Versa) at this location for a year and the staff was always sweet, the spray tan booths were always clean and unproblematic + the ambiance was upbeat with fun music and there's a lot of promos you can partake in as well. Spa services here, fit wrap, teeth whitening and light facial. I only did the fit wrap. The good: Nice front desk, I was late but she was understanding. The fit wrap room is spacious. So lots of places to put your stuff and change etc. The Netflix is free. They ensure you're hydrated. I had 2 bottles waiting for me on the bed and a pack of water at the ready. The not so good: Parking is potentially tough due to street parking only downtown. Fit wrap had stains, but it looks like it's from someone who tanned? And did fit wrap with out the protective cover. read more

HI... Please understand, this is an appeal for help, not a bitch session. I like ITAN. I have been a premium tanning bed member since 2014 and have always enjoyed the ITAN spa, first in Hillcrest and now the Downtown store. I only use the high pressure beds in rooms 3 and 2 Downtown. So, a few things.... I became concerned a few weeks ago after using room 3 (my preferred bed) and seeing the overhead portion of the tanning bed frame was cracked and separated at the controls. The bed was still operational; however, never mind the aesthetics, the crack appeared to be a health hazard with a risk of cutting someone. Unfortunately, you are still offering the bed for use while cracked. Furthermore, my alternative choice to room 3 is room 2, which also is cracked around bed frame and the bed is separating from the base. This has been the case for at least the last two years. I have not complained, for likely the same reason you have not repaired it; everything about that bed seems to work, regardless of the damage. Lastly, this store is always very slow to identify and replace burnt-out bulbs. Even when I inform the attendant, weeks go by before the bulb(s) are replaced. This is a management problem; the attendants do not seem to have access to replacement bulbs and are likely not trained to replace them anyway. I do not understand why the first employee in the store each morning cannot check each bed for expired bulbs.... just sayin! Please advise when will the bed behind door number 3 be repaired? It has been at least four weeks since I first saw it broken. I will be happy to modify this review once the repairs are completed. Like I said up top, I like ITAN. Thank you. Warm regards... I have been going to this place forever and the great customer service and friendliness of the staff has only gotten even better. I wanted to call out specifically the manager downtown, Audrey (or could have been Aubrey it was a bit hard to hear and I apologize for not writing it down). But whoever was working on Saturday April 6th was beyond helpful and accommodating as well as Corina who was working on-site downtown that Sunday. I usually go to the Point Loma location since it's close to my house, it's always amazing! I called today and didn't get through but it's okay I called downtown and I have no idea who I spoke with but it was about 7:45 and I had THEE BEST conversation. Well I wouldn't recommend this tanning salon to anybody unless you want to get ripped off. I signed up for their membership I informed them that I would be moving to Texas manager said they would handle the auto pay and not only did they still take the money for my account, they took it out 15 days later after I said I wouldn't be needing their service cuz I was moving to Texas so this month in December 1st I noticed that $99 was taken out of my account from itans. After haggling with corporate they said they couldn't refund my $99 back even though I told him I would never be back in California again. They said they will leave a permanent four sessions can salon that is good for life! I don't understand how this business can just rip people off and be okay with it so my recommendation would be to seek a different tanning salon because this one is no bueno and whatever you do don't opt for auto pay cuz you will get screwed. Even if it's Christmas time you'll still get screwed! read more

The downtown ITAN staff has always been so kind and knowledgeable! I've always had a great spray tan there. I don't know what it is but the solutions that comes out of the nozzles sprays so evenly compared to other places. One time I went there after work and fell asleep in the tanning bed. I wanted to get a spray tan for my trip to Vegas and decided to try this location out due to its proximity to my work. I was kind of nervous since I haven't had a spray tan in years but the girls (Olivia and Anita) were so helpful and answered all of my questions. I had no idea there were so many options! iTan is a favorite place of mine for spray tans. I have frequented this location for many years, but probably less so during and after the pandemic just because I had less of a need to be tan. :-) Lately I have been coming back and each time, the service has been top notch and the owners should be proud of how the recent staff is treating clients when management is not around. For starters, I learned after a decade of spray tanning that I needed 2 caps to protect my blond hair. Thank you, years of wondering why my hair was orange finally solved! I was also sold on the new Spray Light membership which was the perfect compromise from the all inclusive membership I used to have but no longer have a need for. But I wasn't pressured and I appreciated that. But I wanted to give a special shout out to Anita, who helped me today.
