Then one day we started getting calls from a collection agency, apparently one $10 payment got lost or they lost it. AGAIN, the amount owed was $10!!! No second bills, nothing, just collection agent. I went through all my bills and we had proof they were all sent but they were $10 short. I spend HOURS and HOURS tracking all the information down and FINALLY they removed the payment. We never figured out the original problem.

First off, it would be nice if you could sit in the waiting room without listening to one of the front office staff bitch about her job. Second, it would also be nice if the front office actually listened to their patients. At my last visit, the wait was unusually long for this facility and I overheard this encounter. JP (Joe Patient): Hi, I'm Joe Patient. My doctor was going to fax over my order. DL (Doesn't Listen): What's your name? (JP repeats his name, DL thumbs through files) DL: I don't see anything, do you have your insurance card? JP: (confused) Yes, but what do I do about the order? DL: I have the order here. JP: (confused again). Here's my card. I was last in on 8/12. DL: Have you been in before? They also had this ridiculous policy where you had to provide a credit card for any balance after insurance, but they would only charge it a maximum of $15 and bill you for the rest. Either bill me for it all or verify my benefits ahead and collect the proper amount. Last time I was in, they didn't do this so maybe they got rid of the policy. As far as the techs, most are pretty good. Once I did get a tech that hit the vein, but the blood trickled out at a snail's pace so I'm pretty sure she didn't have the needle at the right angle or something. But overall, very competent and a much shorter wait than the nearby Sonora Quest.

I truly wonder what the point of the healthcare system is sometimes. It feels like it only exists to perpetuate problems. I realize that problems are systemic and not the result of anyone individual we spoke with, but I am discouraged all the same. It truly feels that there is nowhere to go for help where people will be straight with us and unfortunately patients and their families pay the consequences for it every day. The staff worked with me through my other testing facility to send my results in the mail. The testing itself was gentle & speedy. The woman who helped me (didn't get her name) assisted me when I was feeling weak during the blood draw. She gave me water and was fanning me to help me feel better, which was definitely not required, but was very appreciated. I've been tested by a lot of places, but this one was 10/10.
