They sent Victoria, who has been an awesome caregiver. Both my parents enjoy having Victoria come weekly, and she does housework so my mother is able to do things she enjoys. Going through New Horizons takes away the bookkeeping burden of hiring an independent worker. Also... edited: the one request we had on the very first day was for one specific medication and we had documentation for why it was necessary. They assured us it would be readily available, no problem. But when the time inevitably came? They unilaterally decided the cost was too much and gave us the specific medication we had said did not work at all. They didn't even bother to call and ask if we would be willing to pay for it out of pocket. We absolutely would have, it was $100 for my dad's last greatest fear of pain at the end. So they decided on their own that his comfort in passing was not worth $100. This should be criminal. And I know none of their actual caregivers would have chosen that decision in a million years. But please, for the sake of your loved ones, go with a different agency.

The residents seem happy whenever I'm in the building. Definitely a place I'd want my family members to be if they needed care.

The profession I'm in works hand in hand with housing such as Emerald Gardens. To me, many folks that work at some of these facilities and with Hospice are "angels walking among us" I am reminded that there are wonderful caring people in this world.. Even though our family is hurt and saddened by the loss of a family member, we all feel we were in good hands and more importantly our loved one was in good hands and acknowledged, respected and understood by the staff here, and that, brings some comfort to us.
