This is an outstanding property. It's brand new and is very tastefully decorated. The staff and manager are top notch. I'll give the pros first and then the cons (yes there are some cons...thus the 4 stars). The room are well thought out. They each have a kitchenette and normally in hotels that have kitchenettes, there's a desk and one chair and you either have to sit on the bed with your plate in your lap or take turns sitting at the desk to eat. So Everhome has solved this problem by having the desk on wheels so that it can be wheeled out from under a shelf and put near the sofa or a very large rectangular hassock. Very well thought out. Also there is wonderful shelf space on the eterge against the wall and good storage. Since this is considered an extended stay hotel, the closet space is good. The bed is also high so that a large suitcase or trunk can fit under it. It's not quite a platform bed because it's a mattress on a flat spring surrounded by a wooden frame. There is a full sized refrigerator and a dishwasher in the suite. Walk in shower in the bathroom is large and has good water pressure. Beds are comfortable and there is a huge flat screen tv, big enough to watch from the bed or sofa.
Now for the cons: Don't get me wrong; I love, love, love the place and we plan to return on our trip back home. But folks should be aware of certain things that bothered me so that you know what to expect. I certainly understand that what bothers me may not bother you, and I had a long talk with both the manager and corporate to express my concerns. These are minor annoyances but they exist nevertheless. (1) There is no ice machine in the entire facility. When I asked why, I was told that each room refrigerator has an ice maker. True, but it's turned off, so that when you get there after a long day's drive, you have to wait several hours for the refrigerator's freezer to make ice. I suggested to the manager that perhaps housekeeping could turn on the ice machines in the rooms that were reserved so that when the clients arrive, there's ice. (2) So there's a full sized dishwasher in the suite...and two luncheon sized plates, 2 small salad plates, 2 cups, 4 tumblers, 2 knives, 2 teaspoons, and two forks. No tablespoons, no cake forks. One small fry pan and one small saucepan. A colander but no salad bowl, so if you want to make a salad, you have to use the colander. If you have soup or cereal, you have to use a teaspoon because there are no tablespoons. You get my drift? Why in the world would there be a full sized dishwasher and not enough dishes to fill even the top shelf? Besides, you'd have to wash the dishes between courses. If you put soup or a salad in the bowl and then you want ice cream for dessert, you need to wash everything out. I had to ask for liquid dish detergent because there was only one dishwasher pod furnished. I think you can see where I'm going with this. They need to have the kitchens outfitted better with more dishes and flatware. There was no pot big enough to cook something like spaghetti. And then if I get a spaghetti pot, how can I drain the spaghetti; the salad is in the colander! I can understand that it would be very expensive to put a full complement of pots and pans in rooms where most folks either don't cook or don't stay long enough. So my suggestion is to have those types of things available for loan. They offer blenders, slow cookers, etc. for loan, so why not larger pots and pans? We go to suite hotels specifically to make our own meals because we have dietary restrictions, so we appreciate being able to cook what we need and serve it without having to wash the dishes in between courses. I realize that this is a moot point for customers who don't use the kitchenette at all or who make microwave meals. (3) The idea of a "platform" bed is a good one because it gives a lot of room for underbed storage. However, the mattress and flat spring are encased in a wooden frame with sharp corners that are extremely easy for shins to bump into which my husband did several times. And I can't imagine how hard it is on housekeeping to make those beds because they mattress is set down into the wooden frame and getting the sheets under the mattress is very difficult. Take a look at the website for photos of the rooms and you'll see exactly what I'm talking about.
These are my takes on Everhome. It would get a 5 easily and I'm sure others who've stayed there and perhaps not needed the kitchenette would definitely give it a 5. The property deserves it, but whoever is in charge of outfitting the rooms needs to be aware that customers who utilize the kitchen facility are left wanting. Otherwise, I highly recommend staying at this property. read more
