Valet driver propping his phone up and posing with our car
    Sammi B.

The room was clean and the hotel was chic and modern. The front desk associates and valet were unprofessional. My boyfriend and I checked in at about 1am and were the only people in the lobby, so I don't know why the female receptionist was acting annoyed and rude- you're not even busy. Then, we saw our car being driven into the back lot about 10 minutes later and the valet driver took TENS of photos with the car, leaving it running with the door open for several minutes while he propped his phone up and posed with it. He only stopped taking pictures and posing with our car when he noticed us looking at him from our room. This was extremely unprofessional and made us wonder if he drove the car further than to the lot. The front desk associates in the morning said "I'm not sure if he took it for a joy ride". Absolutely wild that they can't say for certain... Will never be returning.

My good friend and I decided to meet up in El Paso, since we hadn't seen each other in over 2 years. I chose the hotel, because I had read great reviews and was impressed by their Covid protocols and how their staff was fully vaccinated! It had absolutely Lovely amenities like bathrobes, steamer, impressive minibar, and a beautiful wardrobe. Each room, hallway, and common area had neat artwork and some was even local! The design was modern and upscale with marble showers, Art Deco pieces In the lobby, and beautifully mobile lights in their restaurant. Oh, and the best part was the location-downtown and close to everything (with a security guard, Victor, who greeted us and helped us find places to patronize)! So, why the 3 stars? Sigh. I wanted this to be a 5 star review, really I did. I was so excited. So, here's a breakdown of what didn't work out for me. 1) The room I booked wasn't available at checkin, so I agreed to upgrade to a higher floor at the suggestion of the front desk staff member even though I mentioned the floor on which my friend was staying 2) Poor sound insulation - heard a loud party and doors slamming until 3am 3) My reservation included breakfast but I was charged for my cafe purchases both times 4) The pillows were so uncomfortable and I woke up with a sore neck each morning 5) When I checked out, I was informed that the staff knew about a bachelorette party on the floor (where my room was) but assumed I was part of this party. I'm not sure what caused such assumptions when I shared I was visiting with my friend. I had really high hopes for a Design Hotel in Texas, but I'm on the fence about staying here next time I'm in El Paso.

I first found out about the Stanton House while on a hotel tour sponsored by Downtown El Paso. This was the most unique hotel on the tour and truly a boutique hotel. We toured the rooms and the spa, sampled some food, and heard all about their amenities. I could tell my significant other really enjoyed the setting so I booked a staycation for his birthday. As far as common areas, the Stanton House is amazing! We went on a Saturday when they were also hosting a pop up market. We were able to grab some cool items from local creators and grab a latte from Grilla, a pop up coffee bar. That part was amazing! We also had drinks at the bar that evening and had dinner at the hotel restaurant. Also amazing! I had just a couple issues with my stay. 1. I booked a light well over a suite because they suggest that you'll be able to see the Shylights from the rooms (says "overlooks lightwell light art installation"), a beautiful art exhibit in the center of the hotel. We couldn't see them at all. We were a couple floors above the top of them. A little frustrating, but it's a small hotel so I get that not every room will have the perfect view. 2. For some reason, there was no hot water the night we stayed there. I had the shower on for several minutes and it never got above a cold temperature. It was late so I didn't want to have to call the front desk and decided we'd call in the morning. For some reason, it did work that morning. 3. The internet wasn't working and therefore the smart tv wasn't working. We called the front desk to let them know and they sent someone up, but they weren't able to do anything about it and said they'd send someone else. We went to dinner and such. By the time we came back, still nothing had been resolved. They didn't communicate anything with us. We weren't upset that the tv wasn't working, but weren't happy that there was no further communication. 4. Before check in, I asked if they could call us when the room was ready. They said they would have it ready in 30 minutes and would call me. I said thank you and to not rush since it was 1pm, but I guess they took that as just not calling me once it was ready. That being said, it is a really beautiful and unique hotel. I would still recommend it to someone visiting because it is such a unique hotel and would highly recommend Taft Diaz.

An absolutely beautiful and stunning hotel in the heart of El Paso, Texas. I stayed here for two nights and enjoyed two complimentary breakfasts at the TAFT DIAZ restaurant near the lobby. The hotel is very quiet and there is stunning art at just about every corner. There is a little gym equipped with some solid equipment, including a peloton. There is a spa across the gym as well but I did not use it. The hotel room was very roomy. I stayed in a light well queen. The room was very clean and it was equipped with MALIN+GOETZ shampoo, conditioner, body wash, bar soap and lotion. You will not be disappointed in your stay at the Stanton. Also, I want to add that the avocado toast is the best i have ever had! Enjoy your stay!

Refrigerator with plenty of drinks. You pick!

If I can give more stars I would. This place is extremely beautiful and fancy. I came here to El Paso for a wedding stayed at this hotel for three nights. The rooms are clean and the people that work here make sure you are taken care of. For those that like to workout or relax there is a gym and a spa . I definitely recommend this place because you are close to downtown plenty of places to chose from to spend a nice day. Also the hotel has a beautiful eating, bar and seating areas. I will definitely come back when I visit and will pick this hotel again.

This hotel was the most luxurious place I've stayed in awhile. I was in the Light Well queen room and never wanted to leave. Large open space, tons of amenities, an amazing waterfall shower, an Alexa right by the bed, and a very comfortable mattress. There were bottles and snacks for a price but no coffee maker. Fear not, coffee drinkers! Simply head downstairs and they will brew you a fresh gourmet coffee on the house! Breakfast is wonderful and room service is well priced. Parking is free and located at the back of the hotel, and there are lots of great food and drink options within walking distance. There's not a hotel store or vending machine but there is a CVS around the corner. The only downside is the lack of channels available on TV. I think the thing that would make the hotel top notch is a Netflix option. I cannot wait to stay here again!

These moving lights are BEAUTIFUL, but they do make it a bit difficult to get a good nights sleep.

This is actually a 4.5 star review. The hotel is GORGEOUS and the staff are extremely kind and helpful. Every single staff person we spoke to, from the front desk, to the servers in the restaurant, to the valets, to the managers were so nice and really made us feel welcomed and comfortable. The room we stayed in was HUGE and so comfortable. I especially liked the selection of books that were in the room. My ONLY complaint was this... The hotel has this amazing art installation in the form of several beautiful lighting fixtures on motors that move up and down several stories inside the hotel. Our room did not have a window to the outside, instead it had a window overlooking the moving light installation, which was AWESOME, until it wasn't. At about 1 PM, when there were no curtains to close and the the lights were still swishing up and down outside the window, it wasn't awesome any more. Luckily its a simple fix for the hotel so that next time this can be a five star review, just a nice thick, light blocking curtain on the window allows the guests to get a good night's sleep, which is, after all, one of the main reasons they checked in here in the first place. I'll be back though, curtain or no curtain, because this is a great hotel!

The Stanton house went above and beyond, decorating the room w balloons and left this card to surprise us as we celebrated a birthday!
    Richard H.

This is really a beautiful hotel. They went above and beyond as we were celebrating a birthday. They decorated the room with balloons and left a card for us. The theme was super modern, everything is upgraded and updated. Looks amazing.

We booked the Stanton Loft, which was so romantic and lovely!

But one lady wasnt the most friendly. The bad...as i mentioned i went to the front desk a few times. My keycard would stop working randomly. It was extremely frustrating. It happened to me 3 times in my 2 nigjt stay. There were crumbs outside in the hallway in front of my door upon my arrival. I stayed 2 nights, the crumbs were there upon my departure which tells me the staff doesnt vacuum daily or even every other day. The food in the morning was cold and dry. I arrived at midnight via Uber from the airport so I just wanted to go shower and straight to bed. I was hungry the next morning. The waffle maker timer is broken so I had to estimate how long is was cooking my waffles before I noticed it wasnt counting down. Lastly, there was a bug in my room...ill stop short of identifying it as a roach but ive attached a photo.

The bedding did not get changed. I asked them again and they gave me bedding to change it myself. When I took the sheet off, I saw a large urine stain on the mattress protector. So I just took that off. Then I went to wash my hands and there was no soap. I had to go back downstairs and request that as well. They did give me an extra bottle of water for my troubles though. The room was pretty run down and clearly not well cleaned. The shower curtain rod sagged in the middle so I couldn't close the shower curtain when I showered and got water everywhere. The towels were very stiff, had a bit of a smell to them and were stained. I honestly didn't want to use them. The gym was decent. 2 treadmills, 2 electrical, and a peleton. Breakfast was not so great. I had a made to order omelet but it just wasn't good. Neither was anything else I tried. I did appreciate that the mattress was a softer one instead of the firm mattresses you usually get at hotels. And the water for showers did get really hot which I love. I booked a room next to the stairwell as I prefer stairs to the elevator but the stairwell exit/entrance is on the outside with no re-entry. So you can go down them but can't go up them. I didn't get a chance to go to the daily evening reception but it looked pretty popular. All in all, this hotel needs some TLC and I would advise anyone to book accommodations elsewhere.

A huge shout out to the night (manager?) concierge Cynthia Martin, she was the nicest most sincere person, but she truly made the hotel welcoming when we got in at 3 AM. Everybody at Embassy suites is very nice, but Miss Martin truly went out of her wayto express her condolences. I've stayed at this hotel many times in the past few years and I didn't expect anything different…read morefrom my stay last night, but it was the worst experience I've ever had at this hotel. I arrived late in the evening and the lady at the desk rushed me through check in without bothering to inform me of the amenities or when breakfast was served. I'm very familiar with these things but this was the first time they were not mentioned. I was given the option to pick which floor I would like to be on and I chose the ground floor. I'm usually assigned to the second or third floor so I thought not having to go up the stairs would be nice for a change. Oh how wrong I was... My room was really close to the lobby and I could hear the muffled voices and shuffling of every person who walked through the area. Someone had a really bad cough and they weren't being quiet about it. I went to the soda fountain a couple of times during the night to refill my cup and the lady at the desk scowled at me every time. I guess I was interrupting the videos she was watching on her phone. The noise from the lobby eventually quieted down and I was able to fall asleep around midnight, but then I was abruptly woken up at 5am by the fire alarm. I wasn't sure what it was at first because it was a sharp shriek that cut off and repeated every 10 seconds or so instead of a continuous siren like most fire alarms. I went out into the hall to see other guests wondering what was going on. I went to the front desk and another employee was fiddling with the emergency controls in the red box on the wall. She was manually silencing the alarm every time it went off, which explained the sudden cut off in the noise. She asked what I wanted and I asked if there was an emergency and if we needed to evacuate. She nonchalantly told me that someone was either smoking in their room or tampering with the fire alarm but there was no emergency. I was concerned about the latter statement but she told me there was nothing she could do about it. She was on the phone with someone (maybe the management, or maybe the fire department) but I was too irritated to care so I went back to my room. Many more guests had entered the lobby in various states of confusion and concern but they were also told "no emergency." I tried going back to sleep but I couldn't due to all the other people in the area, and then I started hearing what I thought was an air compressor filling it's tank. I couldn't figure out what the noise was exactly, but it happened every 5 minutes and would last about 30 seconds before stopping. I went back to the hallway and looked at the elevator but it made a different sound. Since sleep was no longer an option, I stayed awake and packed up around 7:30am. On my way to the lobby I heard the sound again and realized that it was being made by these two commercial refrigerators in a closet at the end of the hall. I was sort of right in the fact that it was a compressor making the noise, but I didn't think a refrigerator was the cause. There was a different lady at the desk and she didn't ask about my stay when I checked out. She asked if I wanted my receipt, but that was it. If she was informed about the chaos that happened a few hours earlier, I imagine she didn't want guests to have the invitation to complain by asking "how was everything?" I was too tired and pissed off to say anything so I left. I had booked my reservation three weeks ago and got a great deal on the one night for $80 (it was actually $95 after taxes). My previous stay at this hotel was about three months ago and after last night, I'm seriously reconsidering staying at this hotel again. Oh, there's also an abandoned van sitting in the parking lot. It's been out there for at least five months and the tires are all flat. I asked the staff about it during my last stay because I keep seeing it but they told me it wasn't their concern. So a broken down, abandoned vehicle languishing in your parking lot isn't your concern? Ok.

The rates were affordable, so I booked it for a night as I traveling to NM by morning. It was an 8-hour drive from Austin and I had arrived late, however, I was greeted with smiles from the front desk staff. There was plenty of parking since they shared parking with the next-door hotel. The room I received did not have much of a view, but a tree. It was fine since the room was clean and did not have a musty odor. There was decor representing El Paso and even the headboard had an "ELP" graffiti mural on it which was a nice touch of character. I loved the bright lime green and the blue colors which added more charm to the room. It was modernized with a twist. The bed slept comfortably soft as well as the pillows. I slept like a baby, to say the least. Upon walking up in the morning, I got dressed to go downstairs for breakfast. I was shocked to find out that they had something that I could eat. I got a bowl, some bananas, granola, with Kikkoman Pearl Soymilk in vanilla and had a fulfilling breakfast. I absolutely loved my stay at this Best Western! It was a pleasant experience and I honestly cannot wait to stay again.
