Please do not consider this home for your loved ones. My brother lived here for about eight months. He was not in the best of health when me moved in, obviously, but I noticed a huge decline during his time there. First, I noticed some cognitive decline and asked for months for them to get him into a neurologist for testing. They kept saying "we've asked the doctor for a referral and are just waiting on an appointment". Had that appointment happened, his cancer would have been found seven months sooner, and his quality of life would have been so much better. They called me at one point to say he passed out. They said he "refused transfer to the hospital". For the next week, I kept asking for a Neurologist; he clearly had some event that needed to be checked out. They eventually admitted he was given the wrong medication and passed out. They said it was a sedative, but I have no idea. When I was there, it was common for his room to reek so terribly of urine, I couldn't stay in the room. His refrigerator was moldy, they called one day to say they were going to replace his water bottle - it was moldy. The only thing ever in that bottle was water, they let it sit for so long that it was unusable. I brought cleaning supplies to clean the room myself. The room are the size of a small dorm room, yet I had to rinse the mop out every few feet. I must have rinsed it ten or twelve times and the rinse water was absolutely black every time. At one point, he was in the hospital for over a week; I went by to grab a few things and there was STILL FECAL MATTER ON HIS SHEETS. His bed was made, but the poopy sheets were still on it. Who does that??? When I left the room, I noticed a gentleman sleeping on the patio with a lit cigarette in his hand. I received a call one evening to say he had fallen. They were supposed to look in on him every two hours. I was told the staff member had seen him 45 minutes before, then when they went to give him his medication, he had fallen on the floor. The reality is that another resident's dog found him. When the resident tried to get their dog, they saw him on the floor and called for a staff member. At the hospital, I noticed his toe nails were so long that they actually curled under his toes. I understand they may not trim them, but let me know, and I'll take care of it for him. On top of everything, he had items stolen. He liked to keep $40 in his wallet so he didn't feel like he had no money, twice it was taken. Our mother's watch was also stolen; it wasn't worth anything, but it was the only thing he had of hers. Many of the staff really have their hearts in the right place. But Evergreen is so short-staffed that they can't do their job. Additionally, they've recently brought in a new director who seems incredibly inexperienced and absolutely awful at her job. When we finally removed his belongings from his room, we had to wear masks; it smelled so bad. At that point, he had not been there for over two weeks, and it still had not been cleaned. There's so much more I could write. Bringing him chili dogs when he returned from his chemo treatments, the filth of the place in general, and the "you know how the sister is" comments (yes, I loved my brother and was an advocate for him, THAT'S how a sister should be!) Please, please, please, do not bring your loved ones here. It's an awful place. The people running it don't care about your family or friend; they aren't there to serve them. Please don't bring your loved ones to this retirement facility!!! I live nearby, and I have found an unattended resident in the middle of a busy street!!! The woman clearly should not be alone. She cannot control her wheelchair. This has happened three times!! When I brought her back the first two times the people at the front desk were totally apathetic. Have been trying to find an assisted living for my grandmother. My initial visit here seemed very promising and I felt I could really see her happy here. At that time I was waiting to see what her insurance coverage would be as well as applying her for VA benefits. Tahni told me that she was going to email me over all the paperwork and she had someone who was going to go over all my grandmas options with me and that I wasn't "alone" and they were there to help. She told me about the PACE program(program all inclusive care for elderly) and said someone was going to reach out to me about that program. I had questions about the assisted living waiver because I was told there was a several year waiting list. No one ever emailed me or called me after that visit. I asked several times to have someone reach out to me because I was confused and had questions. I gave them one last chance and asked to speak to someone about what insurance evergreen takes and still no answer. Since then I toured Atria in Encino and what a difference. They were beyond helpful and sorted out my confusion, let me know what forms to get from the hospital. They also helped me understand what would be applied to her care and what care level she needed. Definite difference. Would advise to tour several options before making a decision for yourself or a loved one. read more

I really don't know how this place is getting so much positive feedback. Today's visit being a dme provider. The front desk was left unattended. No one came to assist me and or the residents up front! I witnessed one resident go into the back office and I can't do anything about it because I do not work at the location. Even colleagues don't know where the front desk rep went. I was there for at least 20 mins that front was left unattended! read more

This review is long overdue. I had mom there somewhere around 2013/2014. As I was shopping around for a place for mom, I would look at the websites of various places and think this is going to be like a cruise ship for her! Then I would get there and the place would be either dismal or completely unaffordable. Then, thank God, I found Evergreen. I knew the moment I walked in that this was the place for mom. It was clean, the residents were happy and alive and the staff was nice and caring! Mom was only there for about a year or a year and a half as her condition continued to deteriorate and she is now in a nursing home. But, her time at Evergreen was great and the staff was very caring. read more

Having the same experience as Jerry A. From 2018. My aunt has been at Evergreen since the Covid hit. At first it was not a bad place, at least the food was very good and the lower tier staff were friendly and helpful doing their best there just isn't enough of them to go around. A few months down the line and the food quality went downhill, she was told it was due to budget cuts. She has to fight to get medications and to keep her private insurance. Admin. seems to want residents to turn over the insurance plans to them??? Her cell phone "disappeared" among other little things. And she has noticed residents who don't seem to be getting cared for. She has been yelled at a couple of times and extras like help showering, trips to dr. Is a separate charge. While I understand that this Covid is creating hardships all around I think Evergreen gets an F for now. read more

Our parents lived at Evergreen for about 8 years, and we only have good things to say about their life there. Most importantly, the staff over those years was fantastic. Smart, caring, and always accessible to our parents, and all of our family members. There were plenty of activities offered, including various classes for them to take that had a wide range of interest. All of the holidays evoked much decoration and spirit! Hi, I was looking for an Assisted living were my mother would get good care and good activities and food as well. After visiting so many places, a friend ask me if I had visit Evergreen? He said its a family own business the care is great and the food too. So I called to book a tour and visit the building. Management was great. The residents I met at Evergreen were all very Sharp and 100% independent. The Administrator is AWESOME. After visiting I took my mother Back for a tour she also loved the place and now is a resident of Evergreen. She has been there for 8months and is very happy. We both know we made the right choice. I recommend everyone who's looking for An Assisted Living to visit Evergreen. read more

Evergreen began as a lovely place while my mom was somewhat independent. As COVID hit and residents were isolated and there was a huge turnover of staff, the care she received really went downhill. Whenever I picked up my mom for appointments her clothes were always stained, and one time her pants were on inside out, plus too large, even though I had recently purchased her new and proper-fitting clothes. Her pants were falling down! They claim to perform deep cleaning of the rooms, but when I went 2 weeks before we were to move her (first time in the apartment since COVID), the floors were dirty, her chair was filthy, and there were stains all over her furniture. Her apartment was thoroughly cleaned by me that day, and 2 weeks later when we moved her, the place was filthy again. I took her laundry hamper for the move, and it was filled with clothes that were urine-stained and just thrown in there for God knows how long. These were brand new items I bought her for Christmas and after multiple soaking & washing, I had to throw out brand new clothes. When I retrieved her medication to take to the new facility, one of her medications was missing. They claimed it was not on their list, yet she had been taking the medication since before she moved in there. I have no idea how long she'd been without that particular medication, nor could anyone answer what happened! Unacceptable!! As her condition deteriorated during COVID it was decided she would be better served in assisted living, but not in any Evergreen facility. I have peace of mind knowing she's somewhere that offers better care, and would not recommend this place to anyone unless they are completely independent. I would not pay for "extra care" services as they are not sufficient. Hugely disappointed in what this place has become because it is in a great location and closer to where her family lives. read more

My wife and I lived at Evergreen for several months and had to leave. Up front the facility and staff were wonderful until we found many many issues. Some of the staff were absolutely wonderful and most of the residents are like family. Unfortunately some staff members outright lied to us and didn't help us to obtain financial assistance. A couple of the staff were rude and talked down to us. The food became hard to stomach and we were told it was because of an inadequate budget. The living room has multiple activities at the same time causing disruptions and interruptions. Some activities preferred by the staff are prioritized and everything else stops. A few residents are wondering around lost and some are pushed in walkers like it was a wheelchair. Incidents happened where a resident fell out of bed and weren't found for hours, even during the day. Rules are not posted and if you break one you are yelled at not knowing the nonexistent rule. Overall I would rate this facility subpar. read more

Let me just say this, When i was looking for places for my mother, i looked all over the valley and Burbank area, including the fanciest of them (Belmont, Vintage etc...) Non of them compare to the quality of Evergreen. It is without fail that every time i walk into the building i am greeted with a warm and friendly smile. I still remember when i moved my mother in back in 2014, I was greeted by a smiling and warm Claudia, who not only showed me around but sat with me for over an hour (sorry claudia) answering my detailed questions regarding what kind of place Evergreen was. She answered me with such confidence and grace, I was extremely impressed. The thing that impressed and continues to impress me the most is how the caregiving and medicaiton staff care for my mother. My biggest concern when looking for a place was, if the "facility" would be able to care for my mother as much as I care for my mother. I say with confidence that the Evergreen staff not only care as much as I do but some times they care for her MORE than i would be able to. Just a quick shout out to some staff that really stand out. Erika, Eassayan(not sure if that how you spell :), Edward, Maribelle, Esther, Triana and Lulu. I know i left a few out but there are so many its hard to remember all the names. I had always been told by my friends that i need to watch out for the food they serve in these types of places. All i have to say is, I dont know what my friends are talking about. I have joined my mother on numerous occasions for both lunch and dinner and I am more impressed each time, whether it be a fresh Pear and Arugula Salad or a Gourmet Chicken Parmesan the food is incredibly delicious! Getting mom into a home can some times be tricky and even once mom is in the home it can get trickier, at Evergreen there is this guy he calls himself the "Director of Happiness" (and boy does he live up to that name) I think he has a degree in GSD (getting stuff done)! Any time i have a tricky situation he makes time for me to sit down with him and brainstorm on creative ideas on how to resolve the situation. He is awesome! A saying he told me the first time i met him is so true about Evergreen he said, "We know that we cant please everyone, but at Evergreen we never stop trying". Bottom line is i could go on for hours just expressing my gratitude to this wonderful place. This is a lovely place for seniors, Claudia, the administrator's colleague, is a lovely and caring person who wants nothing but the best for your loved ones. The activities are fun and they have pool to play. I took a tour and I'm bringing my loved one over to this place. Gotta hand it out for them, you're always welcome to take a tour and see for your self. And the food is phenomenal!!! read more

After my brother and I visited Evergreen Retirement Residence for the first time on a lovely afternoon when they were having a courtyard party complete with live band, petting zoo and even vegetarian knishes, we knew it was the only place for our Mom. My Mom lived at Evergreen for three plus years after transitioning from living alone which was no longer an option for her. The location of Evergreen is so convenient, being right between Burbank and Toluca Lake, you have a Starbucks, Priscilla's Coffee House, Mo's Restaurant, and the famous Bob's Big Boy (open 24 hours + a Friday Night Car Show every week) all only walking distance/steps away. Every single staff member that we met was amazing and always went out of their way to help and accommodate our needs. For holidays they have great events and parties for the residents and family/friends are always invited. The activities director, Camille, is a powerhouse in planning events and things to do for residents, and cares greatly about each one. The food is always plentiful and served in the most friendliest manner. As well, the Med Staff is on top of their game, taking care of dispensing medicine and coordinating care. Evergreen allows each resident to be themselves and even has a fun, funky vibe which made our Mom feel comfortable in her transition. We made great friends there and are so happy we chose Evergreen! read more
