Worst Customer Experience Ever!…read more I went to The Storage Box located on 5th Street because I was told someone would be there until 5pm to help me. When I reached the facility the door was locked so I called the number that was posted. This is how the conversation went, and keep in mind that I am already a customer that has paid them plenty of money over the years: Storage Box: Hello, Storage Box, how can I help you? Me: Hi, I was told there would be someone available to help at the Lincoln facility but nobody appears to be here. Storage Box: Someone should be there until 5pm. Me: The sign is off and the door is locked. I don't see anybody. Storage Box: Okay then they must be at lunch. Me: At 2pm in the afternoon? Do you know when they will return? Storage Box: I have no clue. Wait, the people next door at the "Roofing Place" are helping us. See her. Me: Their door is locked as well and nobody is here. Storage Box: I'm not sure what to tell you. Me: Seriously? Storage Box: I'm sorry. Me: Let me be clear. Just as you have important things to take care of today, I do as well. So, can someone please call me when they return so I don't have to make unnecessary trips out here? The facility is on the edge of town. Storage Box: Well let me tell you. I am the owner of this company and have over 800 units. I have never been spoke to in that way that you just spoke to me and to be honest I'm not sure that I want you as a customer! Me: I'm just trying to determine when someone will be available to help me. Storage Box: Is there a sign on the door? Me: Yes, it says will return to the office on Monday, see us at the Logan County Fair. Storage Box: Then it appears you will have to see them on Monday. Me: Ummm, okay thanks. Bye! Storage Box: Goodbye! Clearly this "owner" has no clue who is manning her facilities nor does she care about her existing customers, or the experience of her future customers. This just isn't always the case when you call service people to your house. Some can't help themselves and want to mansplain everything to you or some just ask if your husband is home. These guys were great. They were able to come back the following week and mitigate our issue within a couple of hours. They put down tarps so they didn't make a mess on the floor and explained everything once they were done. Our home is about 120 years old and still has a dirt floor coal room which now houses the coils for our geothermal. They were able to make it as airtight as possible and vent the radon out of the house in an inconspicuous way. I was afraid the fact our home was older was going to present some unique challenges but it was not the case. It's been about two weeks and our radon level is now consistently well below the safe range. Long story short - would recommend. They were fantastic to deal with.

I recently sought quotes from 3 radon mitigation companies for work in my crawl space in an old…read morehome. Two other companies sent out inspectors and offered me quotes based on that inspection. Central Illinois Radon declined to inspect first, after 3 offers on my part to have them see it first, and committed several times in writing to a quote that came in under the other bids. Specifically, I asked, "Since you did not do an inspection, how can I best compare this to other quotes I have gotten, some of which are coming in higher? If I go with you, is this really all I will pay? Thanks again!" He replied, "Hi Meghan, my estimates are firm. Unless there is something out of the ordinary with the home? I've never increased the price of an install. If I under bid the project I take the hit sort of speak. Some Companies hire laborers and aren't on site completing the work themselves which drives up the cost. I'm on site completing the install. Hope this helps." I replied, "I guess the only crawl space I know is my own, so I don't know what is and is not ordinary. The home is old (as you know) but has had a lot of additions over the years, I think it's a bit atypical? I did get another estimate in that wasn't super high, though it did come in above yours. I'd be happy to move forward if you feel comfortable doing so. If you prefer to inspect first, I of course would understand that." He confirmed no need for inspection and that the price would remain firm. When they arrived to do the job today, they spent 10 minutes down there and told me there is no way to mitigate radon and that they were not able to complete the job -and left. Again, two other companies determined, after inspection, that the mitigation is indeed possible. So it seems that either Central Illinois Radon essentially backed out of their written commitment to eat the higher cost, OR they are not in fact capable to do radon mitigation like other companies in town who ostensibly own the same kind of business. Meanwhile the next company (one of the original bidders) can't get me in for another 7 weeks, which may impact my closing date on my house, and that's on top of the costs and hassle in the way I'd planned my day (e.g., paid to board my dog) and the other projects around the scheduled mitigation. It was a shocking and frustrating experience and I'd caution all to avoid working with the company, as they back out of commitments at best and are not capable at worst.

Rick, the owner, was very helpful in meeting our timeline. To be sure we had the dumpster by Saturday morning, he delivered it on Friday. We did fill the first dumpster by Noon and called to order a second one. No problem. He arrived in a short time. Then, before taking the first dumpster away, he and his crew helped us load some heavy things into the second dumpster and gave us tips on how best to pack the remaining space. The pricing was very clear. The delivery and pick-up were prompt and professional. The extra service provided was amazing. Such a blessing to have such a high-quality family business in the area! I recently called Haul It Off to help me clear out my mother's house. I only had a few days left in…read moretown and they kindly fit me into their schedule. Most household items and the furniture were sold already but I still had things to keep. I sectioned off my keep piles and told them everything else goes. I grew up in the house and my mom lived there for nearly 50 years! She loved Christmas, crafts, sewing and gardening. The basement and garage were full of projects and scraps. Rick and his very helpful sons came in and hauled all the extra stuff to the dumpster they provided. They were done in a couple hours. It would have taken me days of painful effort to load the dumpster myself, plus they know how to load it efficiently. They were careful about moving things out and very respectful and polite. I enjoyed working with them. I was able to pay for their service with the money from the garage sales and had plenty left. They gave me an accurate estimate before they came. I highly recommend Rick and Haul It Off in Clinton! (And once the house was finally cleaned out it sold in less than a week!)

Outstanding service! Our 1500 gallon septic tank was 14 years old and had never been pumped since…read moreinstalled. When we opened it up it was in really bad condition. Not only was it full, but the top 16" was solid and heavily caked. Keith Wilson spent 2.5-3 hours breaking up the solids and pumping the tank out. This required back flushing and pumping at least 4-5 times. He eventually was successful at getting it all pumped out. Outstanding service, pleasant gentleman, and I highly recommend his service.
