Breakfast can be brought to your room or an expanded version is available in the lobby or a cute patio adjacent. We alternated to keep things fresh. From the staff to the amenities and then the food at Iron Rose, everything is so relaxed and chill when you're there. We had a staycation and we really got to relax and regroup. The Mills House may be a beautiful historic hotel, but its hospitality, particularly among its…read moresenior leadership, is an absolute disgrace. My husband and I chose this property for our wedding weekend, expecting a memorable and welcoming experience, only to have what should have been one of the happiest occasions of our lives overshadowed by the appalling attitudes and conduct of multiple employees and managers. I live with serious medical conditions that require access to a microwave to warm medical devices and certain medications throughout the night. Rather than approaching this as a legitimate disability-related accommodation request, staff repeatedly treated it as an ordinary amenity issue. At 2 a.m. on our first night, my husband approached the overnight front desk employee to explain my needs. When he returned specifically to THANK her for attempting to help us, she rolled her eyes and sarcastically emphasized the word "need." The wedding coordinator also seemed visibly irritated by our questions about our wedding arrangements, and several members of senior management demonstrated an equally disappointing lack of compassion. Most astonishingly, General Manager Mr. Linder suggested that we relocate to another hotel THE DAY BEFORE OUR WEDDING to accommodate my medical needs. That this was considered an appropriate response by the person responsible for running the property speaks volumes about the standard of hospitality demonstrated by its leadership. I do want to recognize two employees who genuinely made us feel cared for: Mr. Paulussen, who helped facilitate getting my medical needs met, and Duwight, who graciously helped us record our wedding-day first look. Their kindness and professionalism stood in stark contrast to the treatment we received from others. What makes this experience particularly infuriating is that every one of our needs was ultimately met. The problem was never the outcome. It was the appalling manner in which we were treated while trying to get there. Simple requests became exhausting ordeals involving dismissive attitudes, unnecessary resistance, repeated explanations, and escalation through multiple members of management. Instead of enjoying the day before our wedding, my husband spent precious hours advocating for medical accommodations that ultimately proved entirely achievable, while I dealt with the additional physical and emotional toll of the situation. Perhaps most telling is that General Manager Mr. Linder has yet to offer a sincere apology for the unnecessary stress and disruption his handling of the situation caused during our wedding weekend. When the person responsible for setting the standard of hospitality cannot even acknowledge how his decisions affected his guests, it's hardly surprising that other members of his team demonstrate a similar lack of empathy and accountability. Based on my experience, I would strongly caution anyone with an "invisible" disability or chronic medical condition against staying at The Mills House. You may ultimately receive everything you need, as we did, but you should not have to endure disrespect, feel belittled, or be made to feel like an inconvenience simply because your medical needs require some flexibility and understanding. Meeting a guest's needs after making them fight for basic consideration is not exceptional hospitality. It is a failure of hospitality. Beautiful surroundings cannot compensate for leadership that has seemingly forgotten that treating people with dignity, compassion, and respect is the very foundation of this industry. Our wedding weekend deserved far better, and so does every guest who chooses to stay here.

Took us 1.5hrs and hundreds of dollars because of last minute booking. Luckily there are much better options in Charleston.

Upon walking in I kind of gave my husband a look like what is this place. Honestly it was like walking into someone's home with a reception desk and a bar of that makes sense... LOL! I had no idea what to expect of the rooms. Honestly, we booked this place last minute so I briefly reviewed the pictures and reviews but was just ready to get away. BUT when we got to the room, after self parking at the public garage behind the hotel, we opened the door to the cutest little room. It was sized as if it was in New York City but had cute boho chic charm. It's perfectly located in the middle of everything and the walkability was what we enjoyed most. We walked to all of the best restaurants and shops once we parked, we only left the a garage once the entire time there. We loved the daily breakfast and were intentional about making it downstairs for it. The grits were absolutely delicious. Perfectly cooked and once topped with the shredded cheese and fresh cracked pepper, I couldn't get enough! The pastries and biscuits were also very good. The biscuits and pastries tasted like someone's grandma made them. I know this review is long, so I'll stop now even though I could say so much more. We'll definitely return because I failed to try their espresso martini and they boast to have the best. Note: There's a valet option but the self parking seemed easier. If you've ever stayed here, I'd love to hear about your experience.

She discussed leaving the hospital but staying close by, since we live 2 hours away. Her Dr reviewed her latest labs and told her if she stayed close he would discharge her. Immediately we looked into what hotels in Charleston had the most comfortable beds since she would have to stay in bed most of the day. Several came up but we had not stayed at the Dewberry before and our research said they had very comfortable beds, so we decided to book our 4 day stay. We could not have chosen a better place to visit. Sure this mid century modern hotel sits in a prime location in downtown Charleston, is gorgeous with an elegant atmosphere and beautiful roof top Bar, The Citrus Club, but ALL of their staff are exceptional and made us feel like royalty. I cannot thank the Dewberry and it's amazing staff enough for going out of their way to help my wife be comfortable while healing and doing everything they could for us!! THANK YOU!!!

The kitchenette had everything one would need and than some. The bed was comfy, and decor was just enough. But let me tell you about the shower! The water pressure was the best I've had in years! I do not like to waste water but I just wanted to stand there it felt so good. I also like the full size bottles of shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Staff was also kind to give us suggestions and help us plan out our sightseeing so we could take advantage of all the town has to offer. The hotel is located in a perfect part of town not too busy and quiet. It took us 30 min walking to downtown, but there is a free shuttle that makes stops at all the major points and it runs quite often. Hotel also provided us with a free map of the downtown and all the things to do. I highly recommend this location.
