We had several options when booking a tee time while on vacation in Denver, and we chose this one because we wanted to escape from the city. It was gorgeous, and we even saw several elk and babies! Bar staff was excellent! Very friendly and made great conversation. The course overall was in good shape. On several holes we had to drive ahead and double back just to make sure we were not going to hit anyone but Lucy, the friendly gal in the pro shop warned us prior to so it's wasn't a big deal. My only complaint isn't a big deal. We ordered hot dogs on the turn, and the hot dogs were hot, and the buns were very cold. Loved all the views! read more

Evergreen Golf Course is by far the best City of Denver golf course! It's a mountain golf course that's only 45 minutes from downtown Denver :) and located near downtown Evergreen on Didisee Lake. The course is incredibly well maintained for a mountain course! There's a small river/creek that runs by the clubhouse with 2 bridges that take you to the front & back 9 holes! Soooo pretty. You can walk or ride either 9- or 18-holes, and the course is pretty technical... and it's almost guaranteed you'll see wildlife (elk, marmots, etc). Along with a decent restaurant, they have a great pro shop & the staff is always so kind!! It's definitely one of my favorite golf courses for the price :) read more

Amazing golf course Sept 2024, played week before the snow!! Par is 34, but very deceiving, very tight. First 9 is around the mountain, tight narrow fairways & rough u can lose a shoe in. Avoid driver unless u can hit it straight. Hole 3 Par 3 over a boulder, blind shot, Very challenging! Back 9 has 5 holes in the valley so much easier. (I lost 4 golf balls front 9. ) Fantastic bar & restaurant, yup had COORS& millers, the ahi tuna sandwich was excellent, I would bring my grandchildren to eat here. Had a bad experience today at Evergreen today. I have a 7 yr old daughter that is really trying hard to get into golf. She has a golf instructor and is in OP36 at Fossil Trace. She plays everyday but hasn't been on a course yet. I had a tee time today at 9:10 to play with my friend. My friend was going to walk with his pushcart and was like you should bring your daughter so she can watch. We get there and check in and we said he's walking and she's here just to watch, doesn't even have clubs. The guy at the front was very nice and was like man, we usually have rules that there's no spectators on the weekend, but since she's so young, let me see what I can do. He went and asked the golf shop manager/pro and to our surprise he was like sorry no... no spectators. We offered to pay the cart fee and even offered to pay for the full green fees for her to watch and we just felt like this guy was a condescending prick. He was like sorry "buddy" no spectators we sent three texts on it... which isn't true but probably through emails. This is a local family Municipal course lol, the guy thinks he's running a private high end Country club. He had some weird rationale like it will make people play slower and just made no sense. She didn't even have clubs. Couldn't believe it, cause we play there all the time and will likely not be back for awhile if at all cause of how unprofessional that guy is. My friend was so upset, he just let my daughter take his place and didn't even play. He also said he wouldn't be back. I get out there and everyone was hacks as it should be cause it a small family muni. DO NOT GOLF HERE. To Say the least the course offers a beautiful view but that does NOT make up for the grumpy old warden, the TERRIBLE tee time planning and the extremely slow pace of play. To add on to all of this the greens are beat and the warden was completely disrespectful to me and my family. The cart boys were very nice and I truly feel sorry that the cart boys are stuck working with these incompetent individuals. 1 out of 10 experience. read more

CONS: worst over priced hot dog I've ever had at a course & there has been some bad ones. Itching to get out of the house and into the mountains, my parents, husband and I opted for a day on the range at Evergreen Golf Course! Here are some things to know: 1) Because this is a regulation course, online tee-times fill up fast. I recommend signing up (for free) as a City of Denver golf member, which allows for a few extra days to reserve desired tee times - rather than the allotted 7 day reservation time. 2) The greens are FAST, furious and just plain hard. To get our money's worth, we played 18 holes and each hole was elaborately designed, pretty difficult and fast, which made for a wild ride! In fact, one hole literally made golfers to hit their ball over a massive rock structure (with an arrow painted on the rocks to show there to aim your ball over) which seemed impossible! However, we did our best and still had fun - but be prepared to lose a fair share of balls! 3) Staff is super pleasant, abides by all COVID laws and requirements and made our experience that much better. Also a plus, the beverage cart girl stops by often, has a massive inventory of drinks and food, and allows patrons to "add to your tab" and payoff at the pro shop. 4) Rooftop bar for drinks and food after! Indoor dining is off limits, but the spacious outdoor patio and rooftop are open for enjoyment. 5) Be aware of wildlife! Yes, just a week before we played, a man (who I can only assume was being disorderly) was pierced in the kidneys by an Elk. Various type of wildlife can be found on or near the course, so be cautious of your surroundings. With Colorado weather allowing for all-year round golf, I know we'll be back! read more

Interesting course but beware of elk mating season from end of September to mid October. The elk are all over the course and very aggressive. Had to by pass multiple holes which is a waste of money. read more

Review is for the Golf Pro Staff in the check in area. We were in today with our 8 year old son who was really excited to golf. They engaged his curiosity of soft vs hard golf balls as well as tees. The guys were so nice and accommodated us when the weather turned sour. As for the course itself, we did not play any more than 6 holes due to weather, but the views are lovely. I typically don't review but these guys were so hospitable and made my son's day! Thank you so much! read more

Seriously?!? I haven't reviewed this yet? Crap. I practically grew up playing this course, and little has changed. It is a little (shorter than your traditional regulation courses) muni which is slapped onto the side of a mountain. Seriously. Really tough play in some areas, and a boulder with an arrow painted on it for the #3 par 3 hole. Just fun. Bring your rubber golf shoes, because in the summer, this hill is in the mix of pop-up electrical storms most afternoons. read more

I received great service and the course was fun. At one point, a staff person drove by and complimented one of my shots. The service cart also came by regularly so we had plenty of snacks. A golf cart isn't necessary, but fun over the hills. This place gets mad kudos for the scenery for sure. read more

Overall the course was in pretty good shape. The fairways were well kept. Most of the tee boxes were in pretty poor condition and I assume that's due to the wildlife trampling them. The green were in pretty good shape with some bare spots on them. My biggest knock was the lack of course marshal and lack of professionalism from the manager at the course. We were hit into eight times by the group behind us. They laughed at us when we told them that they had hit into us multiple times. We didn't see a marshal the entire time we were on the course to have him talk to group. When we finally saw an employee and told them what happen their first question was if we were playing slow when we finished 5 min ahead of pace. I told the employee even if we were playing slow there's no excuse for hitting into the group in front of you multiple times and then laughing about it. I asked to speak to the manager and the manager said he would talk to them when they finished. We were disappointed when the manager walked over to their group laughing and joking with them before hugging them and walking away. I guess he thought it was funny that they were hitting into us too. read more

I've grown up in Evergreen, Colorado and have played well over 500 rounds on this course. I think that it is safe to say that I know this course like the back of my hand. Importantly, this course has developed, morphed and changed in immensely in the past 20 years. The staff has seen the most change in the past 20 years. About 5 years ago the course switched management, and now, its shown that that switch was for the better. The staff, both pro shop and maintenance are passionate about the course. They care about the town, and pure in hours of energy in to making this course the best it can be. Moreover, both of the Pros on staff are polite, and look at the course from a golfer's perspective. Don't come golfing at Evergreen expecting it to be a Cherry Creek Country Club. This is Evergreen golf, the staff knows that, and that's what makes it beautiful. Next, on to the course. This is one of the most unique and surprisingly challenging courses I have ever played. From the bull elk in the fairways, to the blind par-three tee shot over a boulder outcropping, Evergreen is one-of-a-kind. Not to mention, due to the course being built around a mountain, the slopes of the fairways and greens can be severe at times and challenge one's shot shaping and ball striking abilities. The course condition can fluctuate with the seasons. Typically the first month of summer (Mid-may thru mid-June), the course is finding its stride and shaking out of its hibernation. However, after that period, the course is in great condition. The greens are well grown and the fairways are like carpet. Next, while the course has a great putting and chipping green, there is no driving range, which can be a burden at times. However, once again, it is Evergreen Golf, and not a course down the hill, so a driving range is nonessential. Although it is considered an executive course, do not be deceived, it is a full package and entails a tough lay out. My one and only point of critique for Evergreen Golf Course is the parking. Even on a summer's night, it can be extremely tough to get a parking spot. I think that an expansion or some type of screening process to get a spot would do well. Nonetheless, I commend all who love golf, the mountains or serenity to come up to Evergreen Golf course and enjoy a beautiful round of golf! 4.45 Stars read more

A real diamond in the rough. This great little golf course is located in Evergreen Colorado. The course is located in a beautiful picturesque area with wonderful views all around. The course itself is short, a little over 5000 yards from the back tees and plays to a par 69, but don't be fooled by these numbers. It is a tricky, fun lay out where you have dramatic elevation changes. Walking the course can be hard for some as you are well above the MILE HIGH city of Denver. Some of the greens have bare spots and the couse itself is not as manicured as other more expensive courses, but look around while you are on the course, what a great place to be. Not only can you look at nature but nature will be there with you, several chipmonks tried to remove snacks from the golf bag of one of our players. Many of the holes have blind shots so it may be wise to play with someone who knows their way around the course. One short par three has the tee box right in front of a large outcropping of rocks standing 30 feet high in front of you. On the face of the rock is painted an arrow, hit your shot over the arrow and about 110 yards. Restaurant and pro shop are funky and fun, personnal are friendly and helpful and seem genuinely glad that you are there playing at their course. The ride out to the Morrison/Evergreen area is relaxing and beautiful with several small towns where you can spend time just looking around and/or stopping for a good meal. A truly enjoyable golf outing. read more

Played 18 today with an 11am tee time. A hot day in Denver means I'm heading to the high countryGreat price for a round. The course is relatively short, as the Denver Parks & Rec site calls it 'Executive Mountain Course'. There's lots of elevation change and you will find about every 3rd hole has a blind shot. Greens were rolling slower than what you normally see in the metro, which my short game loved. You will most likely play some awkward hillside shots since it is built into the side of a hill. Some par 4 greens are drivable for the aggressive player, and birdie/eagle on the par 5s are very doable. The middle of the front 9 you can see 3 sisters peaks. I would recommend a cart for 18... 9 is walkable for those looking for a more energetic workout. Great to see the drink/snack cart out, passed us 3-4 times in our 18 holes. Marshall was controlling play and helping with those blind shots. Some spots need work which isn't too surprising with the harsh surrounding landscape, but new greens are in place and you can see work being done to improve the course. I can't wait to get back up there to see the progress over several weeks. read more

So...I needed a sport to play when I get old (the sports I play now keep landing my knees on operating tables)...so about a year ago, in DC, I got a set of uber-cheap clubs and began hacking away whenever I had a moment or two. This is the first course I've played in Colorado...and it reminds me why we live here! First of all, golf is great because it's accepted that you drink and play (many even drink and drive carts). I haven't had them yet, but the Bloody Marys at the restaurant are supposed to be delicious. I stuck to light beers...because...I suck at golf and am convinced I would suck ever so much more if I were drunk (so I took over cart driving). So, we were a twosome and somewhere along the 9th we picked up another twosome and played together (again, making new friends is my second favorite pastime!). Everyone is friendly, and since this is only my 3rd time playing golf I wore a short skirt and a tight top (with a collar! Sheesh, people!) so people would be nice to me and not get pissed off when I took forever. Just kidding, but not really. Everyone is so nice to everyone here it doesn't really matter what you wear or who you are, there's no elitist golf pretension here...you can spot some truly horrendous I-just-rolled-out-of-bed-but-must-play-golf-or-my-wife-will-give-me-chores outfits. The thing is, it was pouring down rain the first nine holes and in typical Colorado fashion we just broke out jackets and kept at it until the sun broke out and made the jackets obsolete. Elk dot the course here and there, you'll find spectacular views any way you turn, and this course is FUN. It's so hilly and rocky you'll have some very interesting shots, water hazards, golf balls bouncing off mountains...and my favorite mentioned in the other review where all you have is a directional arrow painted on a rock outcropping at the tee box. Could use a tad better grooming, but perhaps I'm snobbish here because I've played at a lovely resort course and well-manicured elitist Northern Virginia course. It is more than adequate! Bottom line, well, ok, I've only played at 3 courses, this being one of them, but this is the FIRST one where I've thought "I can't wait to play here again!" But maybe because I shot I 108? Don't laugh. My first was a 150 and next a 132, so this is marked improvement! Again, I think this course was just fun to play. It's so fun you forget you're frustrated. read more

Wow- I can't believe how poorly maintained this golf course is. If you want to putt on rocks and gravel, this is the place for you! Absolutely atrocious maintenance paired with staff that will make you feel like you don't belong. Recommend for beginner golfers, but other than that, DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS! read more

Staff & Clubhouse are great, everything else lacks. It's a pretty scenic course, and since it's a mountain course it has it's fair share of tough elevation, side-hill shots, and much more. It has a few blind tee shots, including a ~110y Par 3 completely blind up over a rock. Many of the fairway landing areas are also pretty narrow. That's not to say you can't go out and score here, but with the threat of trees and rocks around, and some true postage stamp greens, this place will challenge you pretty well. It's also got wildlife with plenty of marmots, and we saw a few deer cross the fairway in a few spots. Unfortunately, when compared to the rest of the Denver Munis, it's the poorest of them all. It has the best views, but the back 9 feels really packed in, almost like an afterthought. The greens were in rough shape, with a lot of sand still on them, and a ton of partial re-sodding patches on what felt like all of them. None of them are straight up dirt, but the re-sod didn't really hold so it hurts the greens. Some of the fairways have some dug up patches, but most are okay. The cart paths are also in pretty difficult shape all around. And it's hard to keep mountain cart paths in good shape when they're just dirt, so that's kind of 'par for the course' but they're bad in places regardless. The biggest reason that this is 2 instead of 3 stars, besides the poor greens, is the fact that they still don't have the 10th hole back, so they're currently only playing 17 holes. They experienced some heavy flooding last fall, which destroyed the hole, and for some reason Denver Golf (this is, oddly, a Denver Municipal golf course) has chosen not to fix or re-do the hole. When asking the gents at the pro-shop when they thought they'd have it back, they shrugged, looked pretty frustrated, and said I'd probably know before they did. So the clubhouse is great, and the guys working there are all super friendly and very helpful. But the course itself is struggling. Maintenance on a mountain course isn't easy, but I'd expect Denver Golf to step up to the plate and work at making this place more of a destination. I imagine flooding is what hurt a lot of the greens and cart paths, but they've had plenty of time to get her back into game shape and it doesn't seem like Denver Golf wants to. read more

Course is in good shape. Jerry, the starter, is the biggest ding dong I've ever come across. After being the only ones waiting a minute or two by the carts and being ignored, my girlfriend walked up to him while he was sitting in a cart and asked if the ones in front of us were clean. Without hesitation he replied that he would be with her in a minute like he was finishing open heart surgery before attending to an innocent question. The next customer sees him sitting in the cart and greets him with a very friendly "hi, how are you?" and all Jerry has to say back is an emotionless hi and then looks right at my girlfriend. He asks when our tee time is and then says you can come back for the cart 10 mins before (there were atleast 20 sitting there that we found out later were ready to use). My girlfriend goes back 10 mins prior to our time slot and he tells her which cart to grab and who we might be playing with....not that we cared but he was completely wrong. She takes off to get her clubs in the parking lot and while tending to another golfer, he yells at her not to drive in the parking lot because it's not allowed. There were atleast 5 carts in the lot at the time so I asked what all the other ones are doing out there....to which he replied "well you can drop things off out there." Played at this course recently and it was my first time playing a mountain course. I really loved the scenery around the course. Everything was green and in pretty good shape. Definitely a different round than I've played in the past. Reminded me of the Mad Russian outside of Millikin, CO with all of the blind shots, obstacles, and quirky angles to the greens. The 3rd hole has a nice rock formation you have to blindly hit over to reach the green. Awesome! I thought the course made me tighten my fairway shots quite a bit and that's a good thing. We played with a couple who lived in the area and had played this course many times. Their knowledge of the course was super valuable. This course was reasonably priced and staff was friendly. Thought they were a bit too proud of those breakfast burritos (something I could get better for less than half the price elsewhere). Something else I noticed about this course is that it is casual and very family-friendly. Saw lots of parents with their kids and some teens playing on their own. I think it's very important for a course to encourage kids to get out and play. Will definitely recommend this course to others. read more

The golf course is tough. Great people. There are some newcomers, so it can play slow.

For what you pay it's a real good value. Very green course built on the side of a mountain like others have said. Very pretty too! It's courses like these that make me feel blessed to live in Colorado. It's a very short course which makes it a piece of cake for golfers who know what they're doing, and helps out those just beginning the game to play a little better than they usually would. Accuracy is at a premium though. You start spraying the ball out here, you gonna have a bad time as they say in South Park. The 3rd hole was a joke. Felt like putt-putt. Hit a wedge (for me and most players) over some big boulders to a green you can't see. Kind of a gimmick, but that's the on;y hole I wasn't a fan of. It's in relatively good shape, some rougher parts, but it's clear they're doing the work to fix it. Staff was pretty nice too. Worth playing in my book without a doubt. read more

I was born and raised in Evergreen. Recently took up golf so I thought I'd give Evergreen a try. Golfed once and really enjoyed the course. Have tried twice now to golf it again and become very frustrated just trying to book a Tee Time. The number listed all over the internet has been disconnected, no other number is supplied. Called Keys on the Green and got the number, but they were a little short that I called them. So, a few weeks later, here I am again. This time, Keys won't answer the phone. Tried logging into Denver Rec's golf site - they won't display Tee times for Evergreen. Aaagh. I give it 2 stars just because they lack concern of someone trying to book a Tee Time. read more
