They were affordable, knowledgeable, and very willing to work with my needs and my budget. They were able to obtain the permits that were needed which is an important and valuable service. They also took care of the structural engineering that was needed to make sure that we had sufficient support for the deck. Their showroom is very helpful. There are samples and some mockups of decks, railings, lighting, etc. There are lots of options and the staff was great about explaining the options but not pressure-upselling. I felt comfortable choosing the materials and extras with their help. After the project was finished, there was one support post that didn't look finished to me when I looked at it from our dining room window. All Decks was great about coming out. After seeing and understanding what I wanted to upgrade, they were able to install a matching trim piece that made the post look complete. The deck has been installed now since Oct 2024. It still looks great and I couldn't be happier.

When our neighbors expressed interest in having part of their fence done as well, Elijah was happy to meet with them promptly to provide a quote. The estimate included every detail. Work began within days and was finished after two days. The workers were polite and hard working showing great patience with changes made during construction. Nothing was sloppy as even precise cuts were made where needed. Double and single gates included steel posts for extra strength. A baseboard along the entire fence keeps animals from digging under it and holds back ground where it was uneven. On top of all this the price was reasonable and competitive. After getting a few quotes for our deck project, Heilman Deck & Fence really stood out. He explained where it made sense to invest a little more and where we could cut back without sacrificing quality. No pushy sales pitch, no checkbox quoting -- just someone who clearly knows his craft and cares about doing the job right. I had done some research ahead of time and knew my existing deck had a structural quirk that would matter during the rebuild -- Andy was the only one of the three contractors who caught it. That made the decision easy. His quote wasn't the cheapest or the most expensive, but it was fair and came backed with great reviews and a clean WA contractor's license (which, shockingly, not all of them had). That sealed the deal for us. We ended up completely rebuilding two decks using TimberTech PVC -- a smaller 10'x10' one, and a 26'x12' deck that's 20 feet in the air with two staircases and a landing. The whole project took about 3.5 weeks from demo to final touches. Andy's CAD drawings were spot-on. When surprises came up (like discovering the house's floor joists ran in the opposite direction), Andy just handled it -- added a beam, footings, and posts without delay or extra cost. Same deal with a couple small punch list items at the end (a dinged downspout, some siding, trim details). No fuss, no runaround -- his crew just showed up and made it right. The build crew was great to work with -- friendly, respectful, and meticulous. They kept the site clean and were clearly proud of their work. You could see it in the precision of the cuts and the fact that everything was perfectly straight, square, and level. Even the more delicate custom cuts -- like a half rip-cut board to fit under the house -- were nailed with crazy accuracy making it look like the boards extend under the house. Bottom line -- I'd 100% recommend Andy and his team at Heilman to anyone in the Seattle/Eastside area. If I ever need more deck or fence work (though this deck will probably outlive me), I won't even bother getting other quotes. These guys are the real deal.

The fence was between me and our neighbor, so we were splitting the cost between us. My neighbor wanted to get 2 more quotes and also wanted General Rot to come out and see the fence in person and verify the quote so there wouldn't be any surprises. They happily came out and confirmed the quote. General Rot came in with the lowest bid and we went ahead and scheduled them to do the work. Roman was great to work with and he and his crew did a fantastic job and explained everything along the way. They were able to use all the fence panels, but cut off the rotten ends of the 2x4's at the bottom that would connect to the new post. I really liked that they use screws instead of nails. A while ago, Brandon from Alpine, fencing, (now doing business, as Rare Bears fencing.). Called me and left a voicemail, apologizing for my experience and wanting to make it right. To be honest, I was kind of over it, and did not call him back. Lo and behold today Brandon shows up at my door in person to apologize again! He asked to look at the plants that were destroyed, and with in about an hour he was back at my house with a gift card from Flower World! This is the kind of customer service that has gone by the wayside! Brandon is doing everything in his power to bring back the good old days of making sure the customer is happy and satisfied!
