Zakiya was an amazing wedding planner! She was the partial planner for our wedding this past April and had been planning with us for the past 2 years. We had our wedding at the Piedmont Community Hall in Oakland. The venue is pretty bare bones, only providing tables and chairs, so we had to coordinate everything else ourselves - including drop off catering, waitstaff, rentals, silk floral & decor rentals, DJ, photo/video, drop off alcohol, and more! There were a lot of moving pieces and Zakiya really helped us pull it all together. She couldn't be there in-person on our wedding day, so we had Miriam (Pinsky's Planning) as our Day of Coordinator. Zakiya put together a super in-depth guide for the waitstaff since she couldn't be there, and Miriam and Zakiya worked really closely together beforehand and the day of our wedding to make sure everything went smoothly. Zakiya is amazing. If you haven't already booked her for your wedding or event, you better do so and fast! We had our wedding at the Brazilian Room, and we could not be more pleased with everything Zakiya did to make the day go perfectly. We booked Zakiya for the month of service, but she was always available for consulting and questions from the moment we booked her (about 6-months out from the wedding). Before our "month" of services, Z reviewed contracts and made edits so that we were covered, and she provided us with good vendor recommendations. When it was a little over a month out, we worked closely with her to plan the day of. Z is very experienced with events and knew just the right questions to ask (who is bringing ice and napkins, who moves the tables and chairs, etc. etc.) that we easily would have overlooked. She helped divide up tasks and coordinated with vendors early on often sending emails late into the night to help us find answers! Our families and wedding party loved Zakiya. She is hilarious! We had full confidence in Zakiya and she did not disappoint. Minor snafus that arose, she handled quickly and confidently.. It really made the wedding go smoothly and, as bride and groom, we were able to enjoy the event and even relax a little after the ceremony and our speeches! I've attended numerous events organized and planned by Zakiya. She does a really good job thinking things though, step-by-step so that the event runs smooth. It requires a lot of logistics for instance to get 1,000+ people to have rooms booked, agenda for 3-day meetings, dinner and entertainment each night, etc. but she does it consistently with ease. Below are some things I noticed: * She is very creative with folks who have a budget but don't quite know what they want for their event theme or activity for their team building event * For large events, Z is the first to arrive and the last to leave, ensuring every detail is executed with precision * Agenda is very detailed and always communicated to audience ahead of time, it rarely if ever deviates from planned schedule * She is well versed in wines and fine dining. I can't emphasize enough how much of a life saver Zakiya was in our wedding planning process! She consistently went above and beyond our expectations. For starters, our original venue went out of business only 9 months before our (Saturday) June wedding which we have been told is one of the 8 most popular wedding days in the entire year!
