I went to a bridal show in 2013 and stumbled across Audrey and her amazing candy table. After leaving and forgetting about reaching out to her she sent me an email and we met for coffee. I thought she was awesome and so sweet. My fiancé and I decided that we wanted to hire her, so in December of 2013 we have her the signed contract and the deposit. And then I didn't hear back from her for weeks. After emailing numerous times to see if she could call certain caterers or answer a few of my questions, she finally emailed me stating that someone close to her was having health problems and Audrey was having a bit of a rough time. I told her that I completely understood and hoped to hear from her soon.
Well I didn't hear from her soon, I had to finally send a strongly worded email before she came back on board. Family and friends told me to find a new person but I really liked her and so we continued on. Then she set up a time tower with a caterer that I had met with before to go over contract and little things with. When we sit down with caterer she seemed so shocked that I knew about them, telling me that I never told her I had met with them before.
Well the meeting happened and we signed a contract and immediately after signing my fiancé and I had buyers remorse. We did not want to pay 8 grand for a taco bar, so we had my sister (who did a lot more than Audrey who was being to do this stuff) call the caterer and see if we could cancel, the caterer was rude and started raising her voice and told her she wouldn't force her food down our throats if we didn't want it.
After that, I get a call from Audrey who got a call from the caterer (which I still don't understand why) and she is complaining that I didn't go with the caterer and that she requires clarity in this work relationship and she was no longer comfortable working with me on my wedding. I told her that her decision was fine with me since my fiancé and I were the ones who were paying for the wedding and making all the final decisions.
When asked about deposit she said it was non refundable, after politely letting her know that I was getting my money back one way or another she finally sent me a check for deposit. I have never in my life had to deal with someone as unprofessional as Audrey had been. Signing on with me to fall off the face of the planet, to then not like the decision I'm making with my money and then back out of a wedding and try to keep the money. Now if I had fired her then I would understand. Needless to say I have a new planner who has, in my opinion, done more for me in the past few weeks than Audrey had done in the months she was hired.
