He arrived within an hour to walk through all 53 lots and assess exactly what needed to be done. I had an itemized quote in my hand within seven business days. Rod completed the work in an incredibly efficient, safe, professional manner. He is upfront and honest about his pricing and what to expect every step of the process. He did everything from trimming low hanging branches to complete tree removal and stump grinding for Orchard Lane Estates, and left nothing but clean yards and 100% removal of all the tree waste. Rod went above and beyond by driving through the mobile home community and collecting tree waste from everyone's yards that had nothing to do with the services he provided, but as a class act citizen and business owner, he left the entire community looking better than it was when he started the work. If you are in the market for anything from trimming branches all the way up to tree removal and stump grinding, Rod is definitely the guy. He will be on time. He will be honest. He will be upfront. And best of all, he will answer every question you have and every text or voicemail you leave him. The Stump Guy is the only person we will hire from now on.

After thinking we found our new lawn and landscape care company I was sorely mistaken. Last years…read moreservices were nothing but disappointing. Main problem: they became busier than they could handle. Everything started to go wrong at the beginning of last spring. We had them come out to start up our irrigation system. They were hard to book. Didn't end up coming until June. Then parts on the irrigation valves had to be replaced even though they replaced them the previous spring. I'll explain more about the irrigation in a little bit. We booked them for all our lawn fertilization and weed control needs. There were supposed to be at least five applications. We only received three. They just couldn't get to us. My dad experienced the same problem at his house. At the beginning of the season they sent us a flier for care for ash trees. Saying they would come and put a protectant on the tree to protect it from ash bores. My husband called them on it twice. We never heard back from them. My husband called for a load of river rock to be brought to the house last summer. The receptionist told him she would not be able to schedule it. They were just too busy. Not let me give you a call later... Just no. So back to the irrigation. This spring we contacted a new company to start up our irrigation. Turns out the valves they replaced TWICE were installed upside down. So again they were busted and would need to be replaced. Nightmare. We literally spent thousands with wapsie pines in the two years we worked with them. But their I experienced workers and inability to take care of existing customers sours me. We're done with them.

(Originally written for the BBB) Searching for people to work on one's home is a dicey business…read more When it was clear we needed a roof replacement for our Waterloo, Iowa house, like most people, I went to the Internet and did a (Google) search. My goal was to get at least three estimates for our house and optionally the non-attached garage. Several of the companies I contacted, using their "contact us" link, never responded. One company has an entirely different business name than the one listed in the search. Eventually, I got three estimates. Some people get all excited about the shingle brand and the length of the warranty and, realistically, many will never be living in the house by the time to so-called warranty expires. I was more concerned with price and reliability. Of my three estimates, Robert came in considerable lower--house and garage lower than just house alone in the other estimates. We asked him to do our roof, and since we were to be gone back East for several months, he worked us in when another customer asked for a delay. In the midst of our work, an unexpected thing happened. The found the the main/older part of the house has cedar shakes under asphalt shingle--something which should not have been done. Robert generously did not charge us for the additional labor for removal of the shake and the installation of the required sheeting (which we paid for naturally). His crew was meticulous in trying to minimize the mess and routinely cleaning the falling debris. They were quick, dedicated, and exhibited a high level of workmanship. It was a pleasure to have them do our roof and we would highly recommend them.

I'm picky, but didn't find anything wrong with the installation. It was done fast, clean, and didn't have to worry about anything. I worked with Erik Webber through the whole process and got exactly what we were looking for. The cost was reasonable even with choosing higher end components as the labor side of things was as low as my cheapest bid. I'm happy I chose this route as we had a couple issues with the Marvin customer service representative wanting to support their product, but Erik saw it through for us and handled the minor miscellaneous details even though the Marvin windows were our choice. When the Marvin service technician came over, Erik came over as well to ensure we got what we needed. The technician did a really good job and we are happy.

I was some what surprised that he said didn't need any as I thought he would be cleaning my ash pit , maybe I didn't explain what I wanted very well. He gave me my bill for just coming 22 miles and looking things over 20 min tops and charge 160.50 for the service call and had to do nothing ,but a lot of talking about himself and his business and ones he use to run. They seem to be good at the basics of what they do. But you should ask them to provide proof of…read moreinsurance at least, since there's no record of them on Iowa Business Entities Search or the Iowa Division of Labor Contractor Registration website. Also, they may not be a good choice if you know or reasonably suspect you have lead-based paint. They don't understand, or don't care about, the connection between exposure to lead dust (e.g. from home renovation) and brain damage to children under age 6 and fetuses (through a pregnant woman's exposure to lead dust). The outermost coat of paint on your walls, or on wood siding that might be underneath vinyl siding, might not be lead-based. But there are often older layers of lead-based paint on these surfaces. If you cut into the house to widen a window opening without wetting down the area first (or at least putting up a plastic containment area inside the house) you will definitely generate dust from that paint, even if it doesn't look like much.
