After making arrangements several days in advance for Wednesday delivery, I called back one day later to change the delivery day to Friday, two days later than originally planned because my family would not be home from the out-of-town services before then. I was told by the online service that the change would be made. It wasn't. Fortunately, a neighbor rescued the flowers before they could freeze on the front porch Wednesday, but the flowers were certainly not providing my sister-in-law any comfort or enjoyment as she was out of town. I called the online florist and they said the flowers would be redelivered at no charge to me, but I was uneasy as I had no confirmation of this just as I had had no confirmation of my request to change the delivery date in the first place. Rather than contacting the online floral service again, I called the local florist - Petals To Go. I know now that I should have called them in the first place and will do so in the future. The woman I spoke with assured me that the flowers would be redelivered on Friday as requested and she would even make the second arrangement look different from the first. She did not know the cause of the mixup, but she took care of my request with professionalism and compassion. My brother sent me a photo of both arrangements made by Petals To Go.
