Prices are reasonable, the soft cheese needs to be consumed at home by the locals or in a hotel room. The harder cheeses they vacuum pack and you can bring it to the US. The owner of the cheese shop was super enthusiastic about how he had just started the business seven months ago and how he was doing well. His passion for cheese and offering to share a taste of anything we wanted outside of the norm was very cool. If I lived in the area i'd make this shop a regular spot to score my cheese.

We grabbed some lovely Roquefort and another (I can't remember the name of it, but it was very nutty and delicious!) and then stopped next door for fresh baguette. We also found a yogurt that we had fallen in love with at a nearby bakery - Cremerie du Lac sells it! They are in glass jars in the refrigerated shelves in front of the cheese display. We loved all of them - vanilla, strawberry, raspberry, blueberry. My only wish is that we could somehow get those yogurts here in the US. They are amazing!

This is one of my favourite places to explore and the best Fromagerie (in my opinion) in Nyon. Not only can you pick from a selection of fresh Swiss cheeses, but you can also grab some fresh local dried sausage, or other local products. The service is always friendly here and speaks some English. They have the best fondue mix, that they make on-site. However, it is highly recommended to eat it the day of purchase. When you request the fondue cheese, they will ask you for how many people, and if they are big eaters. They will then put together a bag for you, and be sure to ask them for their fondue instructions, as they have special printed instructions on how to best cook and serve it. I have had many other great stinky cheeses from here. But, for Fondue at home, this is my go to supplier.

I especially like their jambon persillé (ham and parsley aspic terrine), a regional dish that is ubiquitous in Burgundy, as well as their duck liver paté. They also have a selection of very tasty saucisson (dry cured sausage) that they will slice for you. Finally, in the mornings they offer freshly-roasted chickens, but be sure to get there early, because they go quick, and once they're out, they're out. The only thing that would make this place better is having Bresse chicken. But I guess you can't win them all.
