I just got a settlement check after I was hit by an SUV and nearly died. I brought the check to the currency exchange to get cashed. First off, the first time I cashed a check, the guy working made me write my full social security number on the back of a check so it definitely raised a red flag from the beginning. When I gave the woman (the female owner) my $5,000 check to cash, I was interrogated probably because my last name is Rodriguez and my age, I am a young adult, 35 years old. The woman asked me first, "what is the check for?" There are 4-5 other people in the store behind me hearing all of this as well. She then took my check and pulled her iphone calculator out which my gf witnessed and told me she was screwing me over. She then counted the money so fast that I couldn't even keep up. She then asked me, what my occupation was. Then she handed me the money. I didn't even have the time in the store to count it. I put the receipt in my envelop and went home. I opened it up and this woman charged me 5% according the the receipt which equals to $300.00. I thought it would cost maybe $10-20 at max to cash my check. She NEVER once told me what the charge would be. I was so upset and my anxiety as bad as it was, my gf was close to calling an ambulance because I was shaking so violently. I called and left 2 messages and asked for them to call me. They NEVER acknowledged my complaint, not did they even try to resolve it. In addition, I also sent an email about the matter. I counted the entire money and only had $4,631 so on top of the massive check cashing charge she made up on her iPhone calculator, she taxed me an additional $131 which I hope she knows, I am filing a police report, contacting the BBB, and Federal Trade Commission and will do everything I can to let her customers know that this owner is a snake. Do not cash your checks here ever. I went to pay them a visit in person the following day after my 2 voicemails and email and I spoke with the same owner, she called me a liar. She did give me $75 back after reaching out to some guy over the phone. SHE STOLE $369 from a man with no job, who has not been able to work due to injury, someone who lives off LINK. Absolutely horrified! Went to register a motorcycle and they charged me double (yes double) what another currency exchange charged. They didn't disclose the details until after the transaction was done. 5, yes FIVE, $40 fees on a single transaction. Power of attorney fee???? For a bike registration? Absolute THEFT! She's very polite, responsive, and helpful with great customer service, but the gentleman who I believe runs this particular location is extremely rude. I've noticed that he treats customers of color differently. They do get the job done but be prepared if you work with the manager and you happen to be of darker complexion he will not treat you with respect. read more

Old fashioned mom and pop kinda place, Good location near the train station. They do not have a modern system or computers. Throw back to the past joint. People who run it should think about being a tad bit nicer to folks also. Basic, plain etc.. Can get some stuff done there if you need to however. Love the area. read more

Never again! I don't think I have ever been treated more disrespectfully as a customer than by the two men who work at this currency exchange. Fortunately, I have never had to use a currency exchange or a check casher, but on this occasion I needed to send some money via Western Union to a Middle Eastern country as part of a business transaction. To begin with, the people working there act as if they are doing you a favor. I told the man at the window that this was the first time I had ever sent money though Western Union. He already seemed irritated. I waited several minutes while he took my paperwork and my check card. He seemed to be struggling to get the money transfer started. After he and the other man worked together to get it through, he brought out a small paper and asked me to verify the information. They had misspelled the name of the recipient. He gruffly walked back to his computer. It took him a few more minutes to get the name corrected. He then brought another paper back with the name spelled correctly. I asked him why the recipients phone number was not on there, as I was under the impression that the transfer would be wired to the recipient's phone. He claimed that this was not possible, despite me filling out the form with the recipient's phone number and checking off the box to indicate a mobile transfer. I showed him a copy of the email and invoice I got from the intended recipient, and he was completely dismissive of it. Not knowing any better, I told him ok. He swiped my card and asked me to enter a pin number. I told him that he should process the VISA check card as credit. He told me this was not possible, because Western Union needs the money "immediately." I have no idea why processing it through VISA is impossible at this backwards place. I entered what I thought might be my PIN number. I did not use this card often, and never as a PIN numbered transaction. He got angry and told the other man that I had entered "the wrong PIN." He then used some profanity while at the computer and complained that, "...if I have to f****** do this again..." I asked him if for whatever reason the recipient was not able to claim the money, could I get my money refunded? He told me my money would be refunded, but the Western Union fee would not be refunded. I then told him that I did not have a PIN number for this card and he told me that I would not be able to complete the transaction. I said, let me call my broker to get some information about the PIN number. After speaking to my broker's customer service - real, caring, and professional customer service representatives - I was able to create a PIN number. When I returned to the window, the other older man was at the window and snidely remarked to me, "Do you know your PIN number?" I thought, "No, I just came up here to guess again." They again struggled to complete the transaction and another customer standing to the left of me remarked that they needed to find a faster way to send dollars. I concurred, adding that the staff was very rude. After waiting several more minutes, while they pace around angrily in their disorganized back area with a television on loudly, the older man finally came back with a paper for me to verify the information again. I verified it, but asked the older man why it could not be sent to my recipient's mobile phone. He claimed it was not possible, likewise. I completed the transaction and asked him how my recipient would be able to find out about his money. He told me to send the tracking number to the recipient. After spending approximately 45 minutes in a foul smelling and sweltering front area, I was happy to be on my way. Hopefully, the transaction will work out fine, but I will never go to this particular exchange again. I considered myself supporting a small business instead of simply going to a Walgreens or some other Western Union kiosk. However, I cannot recommend this particular disrespectful and predatory business at all. They make the post office look efficient, courteous, and professional. read more

Incompetent, Inferior service. Three weeks ago I went here because it is close to my job. I ordered a birth certificate I needed for an upcoming legal appointment. Incompetent lady who took my order spelled my name wrong having my ID in her hand. I corrected her. I paid and left with assurance it would be in by Tues of next week. A week later, thinking I was to have my birth certificate in hand, I am told by same lady that they couldn't see the light photocopy of my ID she faxed to government office. It was too light. Was it to save on toner she just faxed a light copy of my ID? Once again, I submitted my order. One week later, I get a call to come in. Is it to have my BC in hand? No, the incompetent lady did not sign the order form. I received a full refund and when I spoke to the supervisor, he did not offer an apology at all and asked me if I ever made a mistake. This is a perfect example of inferior service. I will never go there again and will not recommend this business at all. How hard is it to spell, make a copy, and offer an apology for an inconvenience? I have made stupid mistakes before, but I have immediately tried to make things right. read more
