How do you find the words to describe the worth of your quality of life? The worth of your children's future and best interest? The worth of less conflict and stress? The worth of your safety, sleep, time, and financial means? Divorce and custody matters can be life altering. One choice can greatly change the course and outcome. Making the right choices are difficult when you are scared, vunerable, or facing the complex issues that are common during a family law matters. However, the single MOST IMPORTANT choice you will make in a family law matter is who you choose to represent you. Last year I cringed, with my stomach in knots, at the thought of hiring another lawyer. After four years of suffering through constant litigation, I said enough. I began researching, and was on a mission to find the best law firm for our family, particularly for our children. We needed someone that understood high conflict. We needed someone who cared about what really is in the best interest of the children. We needed someone that understood our past legal experiences, and our need to feel we could trust again. Today, we couldn't be more happy and relieved with the choice we made. I could say all the things that help you feel warm and fuzzy. I could say all the things Evans Family Law greatly possesses and surpasses- Professionalism, efficiency, tactfulness, communication, strategy, and attention to detail. Or, I could just say what is most important. We hired the best person to represent our family, and most importantly our children. I absolutely believe our custody matter was treated as if it were our lawyers own. Evans Family Law settled our ongoing high conflict case, carried us through the adoption process and ensured our children will have a future that aligns with their best interest. A future that includes an actively involved, nuturing, and supportive father. Most importantly, they enabled us to gain our joy and quality of life again. We will recommend Evans Family Law over and over again. I will never find adequate words to describe how grateful we are. Our heartfelt thanks goes to Jimmy, Jenni, Katherine and the entire firm at Evans Family Law Group. read more

I am still trying to get my $33,000 trial retainer from this office for a trial that never happened and no further work was done. After many years of working together, Jimmy Evans acknowledged owing and promised to work it off or return my trial retainer. He has done neither, instead delaying and making excuses, including talking about friendship. I don't gift friends $33,000. I want my money back. read more

My girlfriend used Jimmy and would come home crying from all his false promises and delays in her custody battle. She wasted thousands of dollars and so much time. Jimmy Evans is a smooth talker who tells you what you want to hear, drags out your case to take all your money, and will never fight for you in front of a judge. My girlfriend now has another attorney that is honest and finally making traction. read more

DEN OF THEIVES!! They talk a great game over the phone and are very eager to help. Once you pay them that large chunk of $$$ and suddenly they start dropping balls. Failing to file documents and evidence, exaggerating time spent on billable hours, and assigning completely inept counsel for court. Junior lawyer showed up for court absolutely clueless about facts after claiming to have spent 6+ hours going over documents the day prior. This firm literally took my $15k and suddenly requested to be released by the judge. They are bluster and flare until it is time for action then they just simply FAIL YOU. read more

Evans Family Law Group has done a wonderful job with my case, and made it as quick and painless as possible. BEWARE, BEWARE! Basically represented myself and edited all documents on my own. Received documents in error with other client's name and info. Could not articulate the process or answer questions. Referred to his paralegal for everything. Would have 100% represented myself in hindsight. Just looking to bill and mass produce read more

I used Jimmy for prenup services and found it to be thorough and affordable. I highly recommend him!

Not only did they reschedule my original appointment. He was also late to the rescheduled appointment. He was in his car when he called me, there were echos of cars, there was music in the background, no questions were asked about my situation. Nothing. He was totally uninterested and dismissive. I would not recommend this lawyer at all. read more

I highly recommend Shara Dixon if I could give her 100 stars I would. Her and her staff especially Nicole walked me through everything and looked out for my best interest through out this process. Shara and Nicole worked very well together to get the job done and made me feel at ease. Shara was very honest and sincere. Her work shows she really cares. I never expected the outcome I received. Why I think these guys are perfect. I really needed some questions answered and some direction, I had to come straight from work, I'm a mechanic, that day got busy I wasn't the most presentable, I was treated like anyone else. Highly recommended. Jimmy Evans, and specifically Jacob Dannen and Ashley Szymonek, guided me through the legal and often emotional waters of a very contentious and unique divorce and custody case with patience, expertise, and wisdom. I appreciated their consistent availability to answer questions, talk through options, concerns, or worries. They did a great job of keeping my eyes on the next step and not 20 steps ahead, knowing that each step has its own implications, outcomes, and options, but always addressing my concerns. They knew when to guide me to be flexible and when to hold, and I did well to follow their guidance. I will use them again, should the need arise. read more

HIRE KATHERINE OBANDO! She does what she says she's going to do. She took over my case that had been dragging into the fourth year and had it wrapped up with 2-3 weeks. I'm highly impressed with her work ethic, sharpness and production. I've previously worked in law for 15 years and she's a rare find. I only wish I had hired her first instead of third. Look no further. read more

I've enjoyed working with Jimmy and Andrea. I feel like he gets me even when I'm stressed or difficult. Jimmy explains things in a careful and intelligent way that makes sense. He has a neat way of articulating and sees the issues for what they are. He doesn't engage in 'drama' or histrionics from opposing counsel(s) and keeps things on track. He's a very smart, practical, and skillful attorney. Andrea is great to work with and was there for me on more than just a legal level a time or two and much appreciated. When you're dealing with attorneys it's not the happiest time of your life so having folks that have a basic understanding of that is helpful. read more

Evans family law firm - Katherine Obando - took forever to take care of my divorce. They seemingly forgot to file our papers, until we kept asking what was taking so long. They had claimed to have filed, but the clerks office said that was not true. Once it was done, I was glad it moved on. Since then, I have had to file for enforcement,. I tried to rehire the firm, thinking it would be easiest since they know the history. I have had 2 phone call appointments where no one calls, several unanswered emails. I had actually referred a friend, and she gave me Jimmy Evans personal cell, and said he had said to message him directly. Again, no response, and no answer to voice mails. I can only assume this to mean they know they did an awful job. I've seen two attorneys since, and both attorney's I have consulted have stated it was worded very poorly, and is very unclear. I am having to pay to have parts of it clarified. For over $6,000, I would have expected more. I highly recommend you look elsewhere! read more

Evans Family Law Group - The unclear wording, saying 2 totally different things. - Divorce & Family Law Near Me - Austin, Texas

I retained this law group for my daughter March or April 2020. Elizabeth was the first attorney assigned to my daughter's case. After mediation Elizabeth left the law group and Anne was assigned to the case. I had to call to find this out after no further work had been done on the case. I have spent $7,000.00 so far for this divorce, which has no assets, only custody of one child that is less than two years old. The Draft of the decree that my daughter received, doesn't address who claims the child as a dependent for tax purposes. There is nothing that states who needs to provide health insurance coverage for my grandson. My daughter is still not divorced and my bank account is $7000.00 lighter. If you have plenty of money to give away and expect little in return, this is your law firm. read more

Jimmy and his entire team at EFLG were outstanding. I had a very complex case. During the free pre-retainer interview, Jimmy took the time to really consider it from multiple angles in order to come up with the best strategy. From start to finish, I know I got sound advice from the whole team which made some of my tough decisions just a little bit easier. Near the end, when Jimmy was unable to attend the final hearing in my case, Shara was able to jump in without missing a beat and finish the case in our favor. EFLG was worth every penny. read more

During the Covid-19 Pandemic my daughter was on her visitation in Texas I am here in California and was having a hard time getting her back. Elizabeth and Selina helped me get all the necessary documents I needed to obtain my daughter in this crisis. I have to say I was so scared to hiring a lawyer from afar but they made me feel like I had somebody that had my back and I didn't have to fight alone. This whole process they made it so comforting and helped me through a nightmare of a time. They were professional and did everything quickly. Our family is from Texarkana and found ourselves in need of a lawyer in Austin when our nephews were placed into foster care there. It has been a challenge fighting for rights as Aunt and Uncle. Our case is not over yet, but Mr. Evans and his staff have been responsive, have kept us informed providing answers to our questions as they arise, and have kept us intimately involved in the process throughout so far. I am exceptionally pleased with our choice of counsel. Our family gives Evans Family Law Firm our highest recommendations. read more

The Evans law firm represented me in a nasty custody battle. Jimmy Evans knew so well what strategy to use with the overly hostile opposing counsel. Both Jimmy and his paralegal, Charles Verdict (that's really his name), obviously have a lot of experience with the judicial system, and more importantly, with knowing the right approach to a case to win it. They won a very quick victory for me. I would and will, quite confidently recommend Evans Family Law to anyone out there who needs winning legal representation. . read more

Jimmy Evans helped me and my wife over some custodial issues in a mediation. We didn't come in with Attorneys. It was a long, nearly 9 hour mediation and we came up with results we both could live with. I'm a working class guy and this saved much money. He was professional and caring which matters when you are dealing with your little boys like I was. It wasn't dirt cheap, but fighting it out in court with 2 Lawyers fees, court costs, and the real roll of the dice with a judge - mediation is much better. The negative reviews on here are from people that don't understand business as no one works for free and certainly not a skilled Attorney. read more

Based on positive reviews that were featured online for the Evans Family Law Group during my search for a law practice, I was expecting high caliber service. I scheduled a consultation to discuss a post divorce decree issue. My first impression of the practice was not good. The receptionist had a very unfriendly demeanor and barely acknowledged my presence. After waiting past the appointment time, I was finally introduced to an "associate", named Kathy Reyes. It is very rare for me not to like a new acquaintance. She was possibly the most condescending person I have ever met. After only about ten minutes into our conversation, while I was explaining the situation, I was interrupted mid-sentence. Without her even hearing some of the extenuating circumstances of my case, she stated, "sounds to me like you are SOL". Professional, right? I have read many positive reviews on Jimmy Evans, so it is unfortunate that his "associate" reflects so poorly on his practice. read more

...meant to write this a while back... In March 2011, I called to schedule a "free consultation" with Mr. Evans. I have a difficult family situation and looking for custody and decree modification. To my surprise, I only got to meet with an "apprentice" , I guess you would call her. (Katherlene) She was cordial enough, and appeared to be filtering potential cases for Mr. Evans? Who knows, but that was the feeling and I felt like I had to "perform" well enough for her to get to be a client. Oh well, I drove all the way here, might as well audition. After I tried to explain some of what was going on, I got the feeling she didn't care for me or what I was wanting. I started to get annoyed with her and considered just asking for Mr. Evans, but the thought of explaining this all over again, or having her give him her version.... She seemed to dismiss my "bigger", more troubling issues, made me feel kind of silly and therefore hopeless. She was interested in jumping on the easy, less urgent issues, like enforcing the court ordered child support and go thru AG. My ex was paying it, but always late and had become an issue, but not the big issue. I explained I already had that under control (had forms already filled out, etc) She even called me a week or so later to see if I still needed help with that. I wasn't going to hire her or the firm to take care of just that. So I decided to wrap it up, I wasn't going with this Law Firm. And as I got up to leave I said, (more as a courtesy) "There's no charge today for our meeting, right?". Truely expecting to hear. "No, initial consultations are free.". I was surprised and a little pissed when she replied, "Well, if you think it was worth it?". Not really, but she put me on the spot. I dont like to be mean to people, but my flaw in that is distinguishing between mean and what's right. My blood started to boil when I handed over my CCard and paid her $225.00 anyway. So not only was I disappointed about the other things I mentioned, I walked out feeling like a good 'ol fashioned "Bait and Switch" had been pulled over on me. To be fair, I don't mean to imply that Mr. Evans had anything to do with it; or that this is a bad lawfirm, I wouldn't know. Sorry, I wish I could be saying better things here. read more

I cannot recommend this firm more. I came to Jimmy with an extremely difficult case involving relocation in a divorce. Jimmy, Elizabeth and quite frankly, the entire team were hands on involved in making my case a huge success despite difficult odds. They were empathetic, extremely patient and very strategic. I had consulted with a plethora of lawyers before finding Jimmy and honestly, I could not pick one I was comfortable with. The ones I saw did not seem to genuinely care about my case or were not really presenting me with options that made sense to me or that I thought would grant me the outcome I was looking for. I had a first consultation with Elizabeth who is phenomenal, - extremely attentive, very technically savvy - then met Jimmy whose strategic thinking blew me away and I knew my decision was made. An added bonus is that not only are they experts in divorce legalities, but their team also has " emotional intelligence" and knows how to deal with unreasonable demands from the other party and negotiate optimal outcomes. They also deeply care about the human aspect while evaluating the overall strategy. I really felt cared for throughout the entire process which I never expected or thought possible. They helped me walk through very difficult steps while protecting my interests in the most clever and thoughtful way and by formulating a strategy that was airtight and got me exactly what I wanted. For any complicated custody issues Jimmy and Elizabeth are the ones to hire. Best decision ever made: a divorce has life long ramifications and hiring someone who will think two steps ahead and anticipate unpredictable scenarios is what I was looking for and found in this team. Wonderful lawyers and human beings. read more

So far so good. Jimmy is tough and holds people accountable for their actions. A breath of fresh air from any other attorney I've dealt with in the past. Extremely responsive, sharp and thorough. Jimmy is every bit the 'scrapper' his reputation holds him out to be. Though it took some convincing to get him into Jimmy's office, once we were there talking to Jimmy my fiancee finally understood how important it was that we get representation for our family law troubles. I am absolutely convinced that without an attorney of Jimmy's caliber we wouldn't have gotten the result we did at our hearing. He made opposing counsel look like an amateur. The paralegal we worked with was brand new to the firm, so there were a couple hiccups with communication, but all was forgiven once we saw Jimmy work his magic while trying to settle and in the courtroom. Family law isn't cheap, but the sense of confidence and dedication from Evans Law Firm was well worth the price. read more

If there is negative star chart, I will mark him as -100. He's the worst. Don't ever trust of anything he said. All he does is miss leading, drain the money & while the case is not moving forward. The Evans Family Law Firm is unprofessional. They gave me a draft of a divorce decree that was full of careless errors. My wife and had agreed on terms and gave them the terms in writing.
