After 2-1/2 years of getting nowhere with two previous divorce lawyers in Austin, my ex and I came to a settlement agreement on our own, but could not get help with either of our attorneys to get it finalized. My attorney, at the time, even cancelled my trial date without telling me and stopped working on my case altogether because I had worked out a settlement agreement on my own with my ex. Meanwhile, I was given the name of Micah Royer at Coldwell Bowes by one of his former clients, so I called him one evening and left a message for a consultation. Within minutes, I got a call back from him. He asked me what was wrong, and after explaining the trouble I was having getting my attorney to be sure the Settlement Agreement protected my interests and get it filed with the Court, Micah said, "Your attorney works for YOU; he should do what YOU want." That was all I needed to hear to know that Micah was the attorney for me. I hired Micah the next day, and after all I had spent on my previous two attorneys who had gotten me nowhere, Micah said he would work with me to keep his fees down. Within 3 months, Micah had revised my settlement agreement to get me what I needed, set mediation with an excellent mediator, and got the Settlement Agreement signed and filed with the Court. After waiting for almost 3 years, I was FINALLY divorced. Micah even worked with me afterwards to get the money my ex owed me to be sure it was safely in my bank account. Micah is the most honest attorney in Austin. He does not waste your time and money prolonging your case. So, if you need someone who cares about his clients, will advocate for you, and won't waste your time and money, I recommend you give Micah a call. You will not be disappointed. read more

I'll begin by saying that this review does not do justice in relaying how exceptional Micah Royer is. He is the gold standard of family law attorneys in Austin. In searching for the best law firm and counsel to represent me during my highly contested and incredibly challenging divorce, I extensively researched and consulted with numerous attorneys. Through referrals and reviews, it became very clear that Coldwell Bowes is one of the top family law firms in the Austin area and for good reason. It was through reading raving reviews about Micah that I felt he was the man for the job and I could not have made a better choice in selecting him to represent me. Bottom line: Micah changed the trajectory of my life and also my son's life and I will forever feel indebted to him. Micah is a highly skilled legal expert and an exceptional strategist. His advocacy and dedication to his clients in order to achieve the best possible outcome for them is unparalleled. His extensive experience within family law and his understanding of how the system works shines through as he carefully and meticulously works through your case. Micah has the special gift and talent of not only being a brilliant legal mind in and out of the courtroom but truly embodies sincere empathy and compassion for his clients during the most challenging times of their lives. He is the person you want advocating for you and in your corner whether your case is contested or uncontested and is worth his weight in gold. Additionally, Micah along with Coldwell Bowes have an incredible reputation and are highly respected within the legal community with other law firms and within the court system. My divorce was as challenging as they come with many unexpected twists and turns and we ultimately ended up going to trial. It was a highly emotional process for me but Micah remained laser focused on the big picture and the outcome I desired (and kept me focused as well not to mention handling my anal retentive persona with ease). As other reviewers mentioned, Micah treats his clients as though they are family and upholds the highest standards in communicating throughout the case. In the end, Micah secured the very best possible outcome for me and I know with conviction that this would not have been the case if I had stayed with my previous attorney. _______________________________________________________________________ Review for Katherine Obando (she and Micah Royer both represented me): I'll begin by saying that this review does not do justice in relaying how exceptional Katherine Obando is. In selecting Coldwell Bowes to represent me in my highly contentious divorce, I was gifted the opportunity to work with Katherine throughout my entire case. Her five star reviews don't lie - she is hands down simply phenomenal in every way. Katherine is smart as a whip and is an exceptionally skilled legal expert. Her advocacy and dedication to her clients in order to achieve the best possible outcome for them is unparalleled. She has a very strong understanding of family law and how to navigate the most difficult of cases, including ones that end up in court and at trial. It was a highly emotional process for me but Katherine remained laser focused on the big picture while also offering compassion and understanding. She upholds the absolute highest standards when it comes to advocating for her clients and in communicating throughout the entire case. She handled my anal retentive persona with total grace and ease and is meticulous in everything she does. Katherine was an integral part of securing the very best possible outcome for me and I am forever grateful and indebted to her for her efforts and unwavering support and guidance during this most difficult time in my life. Bottom line: you want Katherine representing you and in your corner - she's worth every penny and more! ***I would be remiss if I didn't mention how incredible Paralegal, Kimberly Edgington is as well. While paralegals and support staff rarely receive the credit and praise they deserve, having Kim a part of the team was amazing and I'm so grateful for all of her efforts, diligence and communication throughout my case. **Charlie Bowes also represented me for a single Temporary Orders Hearing and was phenomenal like the rest. You cannot go wrong with anyone at Coldwell Bowes - they are all top shelf! read more

I had the privilege of working with D. Micah Royer III during a very challenging time, and I cannot recommend him highly enough. His expertise and deep understanding of the legal process were evident from the start, but what truly stood out was his ability to navigate complex situations with clarity, confidence, and strategic insight. Throughout the process, he remained steady, responsive, and thoughtful, always ensuring I understood my options while guiding me toward the best possible outcomes. He handled difficult dynamics and opposing parties with professionalism and composure, never losing focus on what mattered most. Beyond his legal skill, he provided a level of support and reassurance that made a significant difference during an otherwise stressful experience. If you are looking for someone who is knowledgeable, strategic, and genuinely committed to advocating for his clients, I would strongly recommend him. read more

Micah is professional, fearless, caring, and the person you want in your corner when things look tough. I can't recommend him highly enough.

Micah Royer was an incredible support during a very tough time. He was organized, thorough, and consistently professional. Micah's expertise and attention to detail gave me confidence throughout the process. I'm grateful for his guidance and highly recommend him to anyone in need of a skilled and compassionate divorce lawyer. read more

Divorce sucks! Micah and his team made us suck less! Not only are they patient and understanding but they're professionals who help you stay focused and be as objective as possible. That itself is a difficult feat because to many, family legal disputes represent the worst times in people's lives. I was valued well, represented well and cared for professionally. read more

My divorce was the worst thing that ever happened to me and my kiddo. Someone "upstairs" was looking out for me when I got the referral to Micah Royer at Coldwell Bowes. Responsive, understanding, quick-thinking, experienced, professional. I'm pretty sure he answered at least one of my calls while on vacation with his family! I never felt "nickel & dimed" or ashamed of my ignorance of the law. That said, some might wonder whether this understanding guy can be the tough fighter that you might need in an ugly dispute, but boy can he bring it. "Tough" doesn't even seem like a strong enough word. I'm just glad I wasn't in my ex's shoes! I really can't speak highly enough of Micah or his paralegal, Kimberly, for that matter. I feel confident we got the best outcome for our family, especially re: custody. It's so hard to know where to turn when you're in the middle of a crisis; run, don't walk, to get this man on your team and you'll be just fine, I promise. read more

Divorce isn't easy, but I had the pleasure to have Micah Royer on my side when I needed to go through it. Micah listened to my desires and he and his assistant Kimberly helped me through the process. I explained to him the out come I was trying to achieve and in the end, that is exactly what I got. This was my first and hopefully my last divorce, but would recommend Micah and his services. One thing I really liked is that he truly listened and understood my desires. He guided me along the process and helped me course correct when needed. I thank Micah and Kimberly for all their help read more

This review specifically relates to Mrs. Locke and her paralegal Mr. Diaz. Mrs. Locke is diligent, hardworking, and knows Family Law in and out. Plus, Mrs. Locke was a former Judge so she has experience from both sides of the bench. Being a lawyer is a passion for her and not just a job. She treats you with respect and takes on your case as if she was in your position. The two lawyers that were on my case prior to Mrs. Locke just quit the firm without telling me. Mrs. Locke took my case on and told me from the very first day that she would never leave me stranded because no one deserved that. She proved that when she moved from her San Antonio firm to her Austin firm. Keeping me on as a client had to be a tough decision because she now had to drive from Austin to San Antonio every time we had to go to court. We went in front of a Judge at least two dozen times and not once did she ever send someone in her place. Mrs. Locke is straightforward and will never steer you in the wrong direction or give you false hopes. I have had only positive experiences with Mrs. Locke and Mr. Diaz. Anytime I would call or email they would response back within hours if not earlier. If there was paperwork that was to be sent out of their office, they made sure to send it to me for review. If they received something from the opposing party, it was sent to me the same day they received it. They were always on top of deadlines and never once came close to breaking them. You can definitely tell that Mrs. Locke is a seasoned professional, it is very apparent the moment she steps into the courtroom. Mrs. Locke can spot weaknesses in the opposing party's arguments and is able to make sound judgment calls on the spot. She is very analytical and organized and it will surprise you that she knows your case better than you. Mrs. Locke will be dedicated to you and your case. She spent her Easter weekend on my case so she was prepared for my final trial that following Monday. Mrs. Locke was definitely prepared the day of the final trial. She showed up with Mr. Diaz and they had twenty (yes 20) four-inch binders ready for the fight of their lives. This is to the individuals that are reading this review. I am sorry that you are going through whatever it is that you are going through. I will tell you that Mrs. Locke and Mr. Diaz have your best interest at hand. You will never find a team that works as hard for you as the two of them. It took a lot of planning, preparation and perseverance on both Mrs. Locke and Mr. Diaz for this case to have the positive out came that it had. Thank you, Mrs. Locke and Mr. Diaz for taking good care of me. I cannot put into words how appreciative I am. . read more

Limited experience with these guys but worked a bit with Micah and would recommend them.

During my initial consultation, I encountered rudeness, hunger for money and incompetence. I strongly suggest a different attorney who would be adept and honest. read more

Unfortunately, Micah was not my first lawyer, but he will forever be my last. I was living in legal and personal hell when I met Micah. He did more for me than I can type. Yes, he won my case and negotiated fairly when I thought it would be impossible. Micah listened to my struggles and I believe understood me as a person. We worked logically to resolve my matters. His legal expertise, professionalism and communication was unparalleled to my previous lawyers. Micah is a good man, he does the right thing and he wins. I am truly thankful and grateful that I had Micah as a lawyer representing me in one of the most important battles of my life. Micah proved to be a solid and reliable lawyer the entire time. I am beyond pleased with his representation. read more

My wife and I couldn't have been more pleased with Micah Royer and his staff from Coldwell Bowes. They showed compassion and empathy throughout our entire child custody case and provided us the kind of professional legal protection that leveled the playing field with my wife's wealthy ex who pulled no punches with his high conflict tactics. I don't think my wife could have gotten through this without his heart to help us and his top notch legal experience. If your looking for an honest and ethical family lawyer Micah and his team are the right people for the job. He was worth every penny! read more

I hired Micah Royer to help me with child support modification and enforcement. I reside out of state, so I trusted Micah to handle everything without me ever having to be present. What is normally a fairly simple process was unsurprisingly challenging due to the other party, but Micah and his paralegal, Kim, took a very trying situation and handled it with care and ease. I always felt that Micah had my best interests in mind and was ready to do whatever was necessary to see those interests pursued. He is not only skilled at what he does, but he handles his cases with compassion and care. It is easy to see that he truly cares about his work. I would readily hire Micah again and would highly recommend him. read more

Micah Royer of Coldwell Bowes handled an extremely complicated case for me on very short notice and did an amazing job. Micah was lightning-quick to act on my behalf, coming up with a great strategy and executing it ahead of an unforeseen deadline mere hours after I hired him. Over the following months, Micah represented me with care and determination. He was insightful developing my case, resourceful bringing in experts on my behalf, and was a steady negotiator when it came to a settlement. His paralegal, Kimberly Edgington, was brilliant to work with and did everything she could to make the process as easy and efficient as possible. The pricing at Coldwell Bowes was fair and transparent. I'm very thankful to have found Micah and his team, and would highly recommend him and his firm. read more

Micah took on my case after a year with another lawyer. He was able to help me finalize the divorce. He was professional, prepared, supportive and very responsive. He knows the law and understands how to get results. He was able to relay to me what the best options were and how to pursue them for the least amount of money. He was very generous with his time and sympathetic to my situation. When it came time for a hearing, he was very well prepared. We worked well together in that both of us did not want to facilitate drama. My situation was difficult and he did not waiver in helping me push through the mess. I'm thankful he was able to help me. read more

This review specifically relates to Michele Locke and her paralegal Juan Diaz. I found Michele through dumb luck, and I am thankful every day that I did. I had a nightmare divorce that lasted almost three years, with a now-ex-wife who is about as bad as they come. Michele was a light in the middle of darkness and chaos for me. Not only is she an amazing lawyer, she is also an amazing person. Our "system" is severely biased against fathers like me, who absolutely adore their kids. It doesn't matter if you are the better person or the better parent, it is an uphill battle for fathers. Michele helped keep me grounded through all the injustices that I dealt with, and I ended up with 50-50 custody of my children because I followed her lead. Every piece of advice and guidance she gave me was based on a well-balanced combination of sound legal practice combined with a genuine concern for the personal well-being of myself, my children, and even my ex-wife. Yes, she even cared about the well-being my ex wife . . . definitely a testimonial to what a high-quality person of impeccable integrity she is. A piece of advice from someone that lived through it - listen to her, she knows what she is talking about! She will guide you with both wisdom and compassion, but don't ever mistake Michele's kindness for weakness. The couple of times that we had to go to court against my ex and her attorneys, we literally crushed them on every motion presented. In a practice called "family law," where most attorneys that I have seen only care about lining their pockets, Michele stands worlds apart - she actually cares about people and families. Words can't describe what she did for my family, so hopefully what I wrote in this review will be enough for you to want to find out for yourself. As a side note, her paralegal, Juan, is great too. Don't underestimate how helpful and valuable he is to the team. There is no way she won't know who wrote this review, so if you need to speak with me personally to reiterate how wonderful she is, I am more than happy to take the time to do so. read more

Micah and his team at Coldwell Bowes are fantastic. Micah is what I call calm in the pocket. He is always working towards the most amicable goal, but is not afraid to be aggressive when he needs if it is in your long term benefit and especially if children are involved. I was very impressed on how he always reminded me of my goals we established from the beginning, my values, and keeping the long term in mind. Micah is also not afraid of taking feedback and listening thoroughly before he answers which is wonderful when the world feels upside down. I also can't say enough about the support he has around him especially Kimberly. Day or night, they are working relentlessly on your behalf. I would highly recommend Micah and Coldwell Bowes. read more

This post is regarding Micah Royer & his highly experienced team that represented me in my divorce. Not having been down this road before - and along with the best interest of my young kids - I was honestly overwhelmed with where to start. I heard about Micah thru a close friend - who shared some details about Micah's personal values and biblical practices. That and integrity stands out for me. As you can read in Micah's bio - his expertise is 100% family law - and that was a vital piece with so many issues at stake. As you may have already noticed - divorcing is a highly emotional PROCESS - with numerous things going on all at the same time. I so appreciated Micah and his paralegal Kim - keeping me informed and focused - all the while keeping my wife's attorney on the path of a solution. You will learn Attorney's in general have the earned reputation to drag the process out as long as possible - for their own financial rewards. Micah on the other hand was steadfast in pursuing a fair and timely solution. As other reviews have mentioned - you don't need a dishonest Attorney who represents you with their casual rubber stamp process. Again - with so much at stake - and with 100's of Attorney's to pick from - I would sincerely & strongly encourage you to have a conversation with Micah - before making a vital decision. read more

It is my pleasure to write in support of Brad Coldwell and his team. I met and hired Brad during a crisis earlier this month - my husband had taken physical possession of our 18-month-old and refused to return her days later. As we worked towards a Temporary Orders Hearing, I was impressed with Brad's attention to detail and overall case prep. We did great in court, and now we're well prepared to move through mediation quickly. With confidence, I recommend Coldwell & Bowes for your family law needs. read more

Where do I even start? From the very first time we met Micah to the closing of my case, he handled me with professional love and care and made me feel so valuable as a human being. His non threatening approach to situations in dealing with my case made me feel settled and very trusting in his abilities. Not to get too personal but he gave me information to read and things that were valuable to me according to my Faith. Micah helped build me up when my ex husband was going to every length to tear me down. His knowledge of family law and my children's rights were truly life changing. He gave me security knowing that I would be okay when my ex had been threatening me for over a decade. His paralegal, Kim is truly a gem! She held my hand and wiped my tears. I remember being in the thick of my case and in a puddle of tears and Micah and Kim both called me sporadically to check on me. Kim is organized and held my case together - not to mention her heart of gold. I am so glad to have won my case in a HUGE way and to have them both forever by my side! read more

Brad Coldwell has been representing my family for over 10 years. He is my parnets lawyer and my personal lawyer is Jami Turner and we have formed a team fighting for the same goal. Brad has always been so sensitive with are needs. He turly cares about our case and we are not just another paycheck to him. We have been thorw everything, depositions to testifying in court and he has always been there getting my family prepared for any situation that could come up. I must say that Micha Royer is another lawyer that is in Brad's practice that we have worked with in the ten years we have been clients and he is also impeccable. This is a very personal topic im speaking about as im sure your son or daughter is to you. You can put all your trust into Brad or Micah's hands and know you will be taken cared of. I was referred to Coldwell-Bowes by another attorney with whom I'd worked in the past. When I discovered infidelity and insolvency on my now-ex's behalf, Mr. Coldwell fit me in the same day for an initial consultation. He was kind, cool, collected, and very clear that he could help me. He was patient for several months while I debated whether to file, and when I was ready he and the team sprung into action. From the day I filed to the day that I stood before a judge and was officially divorced, Mr. Coldwell and his team, including Mr. Royer, Ms. Edgington and Ms. Dixon were nothing short of my knights fighting for every key thing. Every "non negotiable" which I initially identified, they won. Every concern I had, they were able to clarify. Every fear that I shared, they were there to say "this is what we do" and took exemplary care of me and my causes. They countered every crazy argument of my ex and every position of his attorney with grace and professionalism, backed by solid legal research. They were able to negotiate a more successful outcome than I could've initially imagined. I simply cannot thank them enough; the entire Coldwell-Bowes team has my gratitude forever. read more
