As of January 1st of 2019, alimony was no longer going to be tax deductible for my ex and I would have not had to pay taxes on the alimony. As a result I now have to pay taxes every year on my alimony, my ex gets to deduct it. She certainly was not representing my interests at all! My divorce was final in June of 2020, there was no rush....other than it was a huge benefit to my husband I was divorcing! Why would she not advise me to not worry about it and rush to sign it? She was to represent me and look out for me, I hired and paid her. It is a huge burden to pay over $4,000 in taxes every year. I literally receive after paying taxes the exact same amount of alimony I was receiving while formally separated ( separate living quarters, same house) with my ex paying all the bills, me on his insurance. Every year at tax time I am in awe that I was blindsided by her and trusted her. I ask myself how I allowed this to happen and did not know what I was doing. I trusted my attorney! I try to forgive myself for making such a bad decision, the bad decision was hiring Dana Cornett. Perhaps she only represents people she likes or she feels are deserving in her opinion. I see other good reviews and I am like why did she not represent me? I would not trust Dana Cornett, its a risk. She does no deserve one star, it should be 0. Her representation has cost me a huge financial burden.

They said well next time get a law firm to represent you and maybe you'd win. Also they have sent documents to have my mom sign. There has been pressure to sign document sent to a woman who is slowly losing her memory. When I called the firm to inquire about the nature of the documents they were unresponsive. I called to the partner of the firm and who hung on me saying well get another law firm if you don't like us. Completely and totally unprofessional. Never hire this firm. Ever.
