I called Phil and he gave me the impression he was no nonsense. I went the same day and he did the repair on the spot for a very reasonable price. This is a handy little bike shop and workshop located, as you might expect, next to a bus stop. However once you're in, the staff are friendly and helpful, and I think offers good value. The shop is quite small, and has all the essentials, but not much beyond that, so if you are looking for the latest Northwave jersey, you will need to try somewhere else. It is more of a functional shop catering to people who are using their bike to get places rather than purely for exercise or sport. They have a plentiful supply of florescent yellow plastic, which is most important for cycling on London's roads.

Everyone that works there is nice and helpful, and happy to make you a cup of coffee while you wait. However, after a few mismanaged visits I don't plan to return. I had to bring my bike back three times before they could properly adjust my front brake pads so they would not rub against the rim. Three times is crazy. When I ordered a back brake from them, first they lost the entire order, then they ordered the wrong-sized brake and forgot to order a brake lever. What good is a brake without a brake lever?? Come on, seriously. And then when I finally got my bike back, the brake lever they had put on was not the size they told me they were going to order. By this point I was over it so I just paid and left. Throughout all of this, I never received any phone calls to update me on the status of my orders, or to tell me my bike was finished and ready to collect. A quick phone call or two doesn't seem like too much to ask. If anyone can recommend a good independent cycle shop in Northeast London, holler.

First time I popped in just to borrow a pump and the guy was really lovely and he even adjusted my brakes. Second time I had a puncture and I had to push my bike and extra mile, literally, to get to micycle. I asked the guy if I could keep the punctured inner tube so I can repair it at home. He gave it to me nicely packed in the box of my new tube and only at home I realised that he had actually repaired it for me too! How sweet! Third time I had to change my brakes and levers and I didn't hesitate which bike shop I wanted to bring business to. Thanks micycle!

The entire team, (but especially Dave) were brilliant. I didn't know what to expect and there was a lot of planning going in. The On Your Bike team was with me every step of the way. Once I got there, they got the bike set up quickly, provided useful info (the brakes are opposite of what they are in U.S. - good to know!). The bike itself was excellent and exactly what I needed for the ride. They even picked up the bike at the end for a small fee. They made what could have been a complex situation super easy. Fabulous customer service and I highly recommend them.

Or even existed. It's a bit like that. They have so much kit, a pretty exhaustive range of stock. Drinks bottles (a range). Biking clothing. Helmets. New slinky wheels. New tyres. A unicycle. And lots and lots of bikes. I found the staff really friendly. Very knowledgeable, which you'd expect, all clearly enthusiasts themselves, which is nice. And all together, really well-presented shop with A LOT of bike products.

The staff here are passionate about cycling as a sport and probably have been since the day they first sat on a tricycle. As well as having a huge range of mountain, racing and all kinds of bikes, they are immensely knowledgeable and good at repair jobs. On the downside, it is often quite difficult to get served you really do have to fight for their attention. Be prepared for a bit of cockney banter and you can even haggle down the price on occasions. This is nothing like shopping at Evans Bike Superstore, but so much more of a personal and interesting experience.

I don't even know the lingo yet, that's how much of a newbie dope I am!) Dan the owner, and handy Stuart just about made my day. They very politely asked me questions about my bike, which I couldn't answer(!) and then our conversation swerved into my life history, how on earth I'd only learnt to ride a bike in my 30s and a discussion on hotels vs AirBnb. I thought their prices very reasonable and also picked up a tinkly bike bell. Ahh accoutrements! They're opening a coffee shop next door too - so I'll deffo say watch this space :)
