Texas Auto Accessories - Happy customer with now working 28 year old sunroof again!

This business, Jay in particular, is the guy who's number you want to have saved in your contacts…read morefor when you need it. You will be the hero to your friends and family when something goes wrong with their sunroof and you can quickly say "Hang on, I know a guy..." I have a 28 year old 4Runner and the sunroof cables finally rusted up inside the channels after we moved back from D.C. 5 years ago. I have made phone calls and asked mechanics if they could fix it for the last 3 years and I get told that only a body shop will do that, body shops inevitably tell me they don't do that, try an auto glass place, and all of them say "Nope, we don't mess with sunroofs." Having a full time job, I kind of gave up on ever getting it fixed. However, I also have a mechanically-inclined brother who, bless his heart, said he could help me fix it, took it all apart one weekend and then left me with an un-drivable car for 6 weeks. My husband, in an epic Google deep dive, found Texas Auto Accessories and called Jay. I know cars and I know car guys, Jay must have an encyclopedic memory of every sunroof configuration ever produced. He takes mine apart, finds the rust, immediately tracks down one from a parts yard, I go pick it up and then he treks out to my house to install it. Who does that?? Jay does. I can't recommend him highly enough. He also installed some interior insulation I had bought while the headliner was out. He even said he'd be happy to install some new speakers in it as well when I decide I want to replace the blown one.

So I was pleasantly surprised of how organized this place was. My son hit a curb the other day…read morewhile driving. He needed a replacement wheel rim so a friend suggested we go here to find one. When we pulled up it wasn't extremely busy but soon did become packed with pickers. The place is organized by cars and has signs indicating where are the models are. There are plenty of vehicles to pick from. Everyone was also nice. We didn't understand the mechanism to take the tire off and some guy came up and showed us plus helped us get it off. It was a good experience. I would recommend this place over getting this new. You can get a replacement part at a bargain. Would recommend. You will spend some time looking through the various car parts. There is a small admission fee, they offer warranty, and prices are very reasonable for what you collect. This place is great!

We arrived at the establishment and presented our military IDs, the individual was nice and said…read more"I'm going to go ahead and flag your account so that way when you check out, they'll know to apply your military discount." I thanked her and said we really appreciate that and she proceeded to let us know that we had until 530 to be in the establishment and we went on our way. Upon checking out we asked why the military discount wasn't applied since the lady said it would be flagged. The extremely rude young man with all the cheap a$$ jewelry then proceeded to argue with us about what the woman said. When we reiterated that's what she said, he said" no she didn't," and we went back and forth a couple times and he turns to the heifer at the counter who then lied and said "I just told them they could get a discount." Why would you take the time to say "I flagged your account so they'll know when you check out" instead of just saying "be sure to mention it when you check out." Like, what was the point of wasting the time? Maybe it's so they don't have to give you the discount? Seems like an inside trick to me. If this is how they're gonna treat veterans who fight for this country and risk their lives, maybe this is an establishment you don't want to invest in. The best way to get and keep repeat customers is to honor the discount you say you're going to offer...make it right by not arguing with the customer and offering to apply a credit as soon as the mistake was realized instead of just being rude and condescending, so I'll probably never come back here and I will tell everyone I know what a shitty establishment this place is and refer them to Wrench a Part from now on. At least both of the Wrench A Part locations in San Antonio were clean, relatively organized, and not some sort of biohazard minefield that looks like it doubles as a rage room. Good luck trying to get a cart or engine puller around this place unless you spend an hour clearing a path.
