It seems that they are well-practiced with defrauding their customers.
Female English-speakers beware!
They are ripping off us English speakers from North America and the UK. I have since even stumbled over an investigate report from the UK. They have clearly established a pattern of exploiting female drivers. It makes the Viennese appear to be bigoted and sexist.
When I went to go pick up my vehicle, I was told that there was damage on the driver's side of my vehicle. I went to the parking lot to get my vehicle. Please note that it is a block away from the rental building. The parking lot is VERY poorly lit after sunset. The staff in the parking lot were not very helpful. I asked for assistance with the car, but did not receive any.
When I went to go return my vehicle, as soon as they heard me speaking English, they flocked to me and my car. They ignored the 5 others cars that were returned by male fluent speakers of German. They said that the damage on the driver's side of my vehicle was made by me. It was not.
They confiscated all of my paperwork, so that I would not be able to dispute any damage with the credit card company. The prior damage had been marked on this paperwork.
They charged at least $650 for damage that they told me was there ahead of time, before I picked up the vehicle.
I have rented from Europcar a few times in the past in other locations, but will NEVER rent from them again in Vienna when I return. read more
