AVOID AT ALL COSTS!…read more The employee helping us installed a car seat and adjust the child locks on our rental vehicle. He also started the vehicle because he wanted to show us where the start button was located (not a typical location). Unfortunately, he inadvertently left without giving us the key to the vehicle. Simple mistake but we didn't know this had happened until we arrived at our destination, attempted to turn off the vehicle and a message displayed on the vehicle stating that the key was missing. With a company as large as Hertz, this should not have been a huge problem, right? WRONG. It took 6 days for them to bring a loaner vehicle to us and another 2 days for them to deliver a replacement key. Meanwhile we were completely stranded and everyone we talked to (customer service, roadside assistance, this location, etc) just kept saying "we will look into it" or "we will call you back." I can't imagine what I would have done if I had been stranded with my toddler at a gas station or somewhere without accommodations. At the end of our rental agreement, we returned the vehicle and the key in the exact same condition it was issued to us. The tacked on: 48.52 EUR for fuel in the loaner car (we only drove it to pick up the replacement key) 508 EUR for the key that they lost 37 EUR for delivery of the loaner vehicle (on day 6 of our rental agreement) After several emails to Hertz and over a month of no response, I just received a canned response saying they would only refund the fuel charge.  They claim they can charge me because: "When a customer rents a vehicle, he or she accepts responsibility for the vehicle and its equipment.  If the vehicle is damaged during an accident, the customer will be held responsible and charged the appropriate repair costs." I never took possession of the key yet they want to hold me financially responsible for their employee's actions. I wish I had read the HUNDREDS of reviews on Google and Yelp stating this location was continually defrauding their customers! It is obvious that they have a serious issue with the management at this location and I am appalled the Hertz is willing to put their reputation on the line rather than addressing the issue.

After you go through border security and get your luggage, it's time to go to your next…read moredestination. I chose Sixt for my rental car company. Walking up to the counter, the representative spoke English, I was able to complete my transaction very quickly. After signing multiple screens, I'm asked about a few different brands and I decide on a Peugeot. I'm told to walk the long corridor and go to the lower level. I'm given the spot number, it seems like a pretty typical car rental scenario. I go to the spot and see a brand new Peugeot in a funky metallic blue. Very hip! Here's the issue. My rental came with GPS. I could not figure out how to get the menu to English! I ultimately had to rely on Google maps on my cell phone. This car was a gas saver, I did a lot of driving and filled up once. Easy transaction and was given a nice car. I would rent from Sitx again.

I have never had any report of damages in the 20 years I've been renting cars from Budget,…read moreNational, Avis, until I rented a car from Sixt in Berlin. After 1 day of returning the car the noted a damage on the tire rim that had already existed on the car prior to when I drove off with the car. I sent them pictures I took while the car was parked at their rental parking lot before driving off. And still they sent me an email of $800+ invoice for the damage with button to "Pay now". I reported them to the BBB and posting a review like this everywhere so that nobody EVER uses SIXT again. I will surely not!
