I've been out of the Yelp loop for a while and recently relocated to Dublin, Ireland- so why the heck do I decide to review a grocery store to mark a personal Yelp comeback after 6 months?
Maybe due to the fact that Euro Spar on Barrow is the store in Dublin I've visited the most so far. Right, we need to get our food from SOMEWHERE. The lack of alternatives in that area (also called the "Google Ghetto") is blatant. Smart guys at Euro Spar, they're aware of it and increased the prices ridiculously for EVERYTHING. Cheap Asian instant noodles for 1.30 EUR? Check. To-be-microwaved rice and beef stew for 4.99 EUR? Check. Four green apples for 2 EUR? Get it here. You can easily walk out with one bag in your hand and 40 EUR on the receipt.
On the good side, they have this Irish coffee chain called Insomnia in-house, as well as a huge sandwich bar, like Subway. And, unlike the rest of Dublin, they don't close at 6pm (no kiddin'). Another plus that brings back memories: the layout reminds me of good ol' Von's or Ralph's in Cali.
PS: As Google is right next door, you can use their free wifi network called Google Guest. read more
