I was referred by a friend of mine to charlie (carlos) to Euro Master Tek on July 17th 2019 I had a issue with my battery it was constantly going dead over nite, Carlos advised me of a $50 service fee to diagnose the problem, Carlos came to the conclusion that it was my alternator it was no good I need to replace it so he gave me an estimate of $468 parts, $200 labor, plus tax total $668 minus the $50 totaling 618.00. Carlos was done with the job and he gave me a new invoice totaling. $740.37 I asked him what is this from he said it was plus tax I asked him you are already charge me taxes on your original estimate he said," well that's the new price",... even though he did the job he jacked up the price without letting me know and I had to pay for it I warned you,...heads up with this mechanic! he tried to give me a $25.00 discount onmy next visit I told him no thank you there is not going to be a next time hope my bad experience will help others avoid new ones I'm just advising everybody else to be careful with this technician. As someone that takes pride in holding people/businesses accountable, I have never felt the need to advocate for someone else's business. But when someone is this good, it is worth sharing the knowledge with others in similar situations. I will never take my vehicles anywhere else. He is licensed, certified and experienced. But more importantly...HONEST. I probably bring my cars to him too often, because I want everything to be perfect. I stumbled upon this shop while browsing for places that specialize in VW repairs. They didn't have a lot of reviews, but something about this place caught my attention. I knew they were already closed but I still sent out a message inquiring about an oil change and spark plug replacement. Charlie responded within minutes with a reasonable quote that was wayyyy below dealership prices. Fast forward a month later, I give Charlie a call & he tells me to swing by at 3pm. I swing by at 3pm, Charlie gives me a brief breakdown on what services I'm getting done, shows me my old spark plugs, and then BOOM! my car is done by 3:45pm!! no joke!! I couldn't believe it. And the final bill was lower than my initial quote. Mind blown! What makes this shop awesome is that you know who you're dealing with. Not some random mechanic that you'll meet every time you drop your car off at the dealership. It's Charlie, and his wife at the desk. My car was running perfectly fine before I drove it to Euro Master Tek. Previously in 2005 I had a new clutch installed by Wolf DMS. It has been over 15 years and the clutch was still shifting smoothe with no slips. However I thought 15 years would be a good time to change the clutch. Unfortunately Wolf was booked for the week so l decided to call around. When I called Euro Master Tek Charlie asked for my VIN so he could establish a price for the work to be done. After he text me he would give me a break for being a first time customer & do the job for $550. That sounded good so I decided to give his business a try. I dropped my VW mk3 2.0 off on the afternoon of Monday, January 18th. About 3 hours later Charlie calls me & tells me that I provided him the wrong clutch disc. However he said that he works on VW mk3's all the time and swaps transmissions frequently. In addition he said he has an exact model like my vehicle. Furthermore he said he happens to have a clutch disc that will work for $150. I said will the flywheel & pressure plate I purchased and brought to him work with the clutch disc he is offering me for $150. He assured me yes it will work since he has done all sorts of transmission work on these cars often. I wanted a more definite answer so I text Charlie to be clear are you sure your clutch disc for $150 will work with my flywheel? Charlie responded in text with a "yes" For him being a professional and working with these cars all the time as he boasts I believed his word just like I believed he would honor his work and complete the job. Day 2, Charlie texts me photos were he states I need a transmission mount he has for $60, a rear main seal he has for $45, and transmission shift link he broke when removing my shift linkage for $15. He broke my shift link and wanted me to pay for it? I text him back and told him I could bring the parts to his shop. He text me "Need it now. I can't hold the job too long. Hurry up please. Furthermore Charlie text otherwise I will order it and get it within an hour. So he was rushing me because he wanted to charge me more than double for each part he quoted. Keep in mind Charlie has a vender who supplies him car parts at wholesale prices. I found a rear main seal at autozone(charges high retail prices but less than half the price Charlie wanted) for $19. I got a transmission mount at napa for $15(Charlie wanted 3 times more than this) However I could not find the shift link which he broke so I told him to just order that for $15. All of those parts I brought to his shop by 12:30pm that same day on Day 2. Since he rushed me to get those parts in then I expected him to complete the job that same day. Charlie did not finish the job that day. Day 3 about 1pm he texts me to call him asap. At that time I was at work and took a quick break to return his call. Charlie said I put your car back together and the clutch is not engaging so I will have to take the whole thing apart again and charge you an additional 4-5 hours more of labor. He had my car for 3 days and each day he had a different problem and a way to extort more money from me. At that point I said "No I will not pay an extra 4-5 hours more of labor. I will call a tow truck to pick it up after work. He said fine then. 3 hours later I arrive at his shop and my car is in pieces. He did not even bother to put back the shift linkage he took apart. The clutch cable and clutch rod and all the parts that were attached to my car were in a box he told me to take with the car. I ended up paying $848.82 for him to take my car apart and disable my car. I drove it to his shop & now I had to tow it out of his shop after I paid him $848. Think about what you did Charlie. Say you had a house and wanted to change your old roof with a new roof. So you talk to a roofer and both of you agree to do the job for $10,000. The roofer guy takes off your roof then 2 days later he calls you and tells you he will not put your roof back unless you pay him $20,000. Is that okay with you Charlie? Your house was ok with the old roof and it prevented rain and elements from entering your house just like my car was running fine untill you took it apart and disabled it and I still payed you more than the quoted price for you to not complete the job you promised. You should have atleast put my car back the way you received it! Charlie is a crook only looking to extort money from people. Do not take your car to this shady dishonest guy! If you go to Euro Master Tek you will regret it! Charlie will have some lame excuse to slither his way out of this review. He will say I do not know you. Show a work order to prove it.( I have a work order) People do not have time to write false reviews Charlie. I'm sure all of those negative reviews on his page are true.
