WORST MASSAGE EVER. My boyfriend and I made plans to get a spa treatment on our anniversary. We called around but Eureka Massage Center was the only one available, though we knew it wasn't a certified spa. I scheduled both of us for a one and a half hour massage with a facial thinking $80 for both was a great deal! Well, we got what we paid for . . . Before our appointment., they called us and asked if we could come in sooner, which we did. Upon arrival, two frail ladies greeted us and told us to "pick a room". Awkward. The walls were hospital white and the whole place uninviting, yet clean.
I've had multiple massages as well as different styles so I knew what I liked. I could see the street through the blinds but she told me that "no one could see in". As my massage started, she asked if I had problem areas. I told her about my issues including past injuries from years of riding horses and I'm also a server, etc. so I prefer EXTREME pressure since I am numb in some areas. She squealed "OH!" and that was it as she continued to just kind of pat me. I repeated multiple times that I preferred stronger pressure than she was giving but she just told me she would do some "cranial-sacral work" later. I asked how long she had been doing massage. TWENTY FOUR YEARS, she said. I hoped the massage would get better at this statement. It didn't.
At one point she picked up my legs and shook them for minutes. I almost started laughing. She mumbled something about my "aura" and started the pathetic facial. I felt like a mouse was walking on me, not giving me a mud mask! She actually just poked me several times in areas I assume were pressure points. Then left mud on my face I wiped off after leaving the room. I later found out my "cranial-sacral work" consisted of her holding my head at an awkward angle for several minutes with the sides of her hands. WTF!?!
My boyfriend's wasn't much better. He said it sounded as if his masseuse's hands were going to break as they cracked and creaked together. He told her he had a cold and then didn't hear her for several minutes. He smelled tea tree oil and realized her hand was an INCH from his face, just holding it there! Some warning would have been nice! He said when he saw her she got flustered and left the room. Really??
I decided not to tip since my lady didn't listen to me and left mud on my face. This is RARE for me since I'm in the service industry and my finances rely almost completely on tips. When I got up to get dressed, I saw my boyfriend's lady leaving (remember, I could see everything through the blinds). When I walked out into the lobby, he told me he had already paid and as we proceeded to leave asked loudly if I had tipped. Damnit. And all I had was a twenty. So after some awkward conversation and we left. He later told me when he was finished, his masseuse tried to ring us up several times while huffing and grunting and pouting. Finally, she said "I'll have to get the other girl to do it. I'm missing my friend's wake." JESUS, why in hell would you schedule two massages if you were going to a friend's viewing anyway!?!?
Stupid, stupid women with no talent. I have given myself a better massage against a door frame. NEVER GO THERE. Freakin' hippies. read more
