My GF and I went for a spa day. Full body massage for me, facial for her. Very professional. Not as modern looking as most spas. It is in the lower level of a hotel. I had to go out of town for a very sad funeral. By some miracle, I was able to get a last minute appointment for a haircut. I had never been to the New Moon Spa, but just walking through the glass doors, I got a feeling of relaxed joy. Then I met the stylist who would be doing my asymmetrical naturally curly hair which, at the time looked like I had put my big toe into a live electrical socket. SARA is an extraordinary individual and a master stylist. The profound depth of our conversation was immediate and my hair turned out so very nice - not too long, not too short with just the right amount of curl and asymmetrical shape. First, I would like to start out by saying that the staff was very kind and easy to talk to. My review is about the quality of service for the price I paid. I paid $95 for a mani/pedi while on vacation with my friend, $45 of that was for the manicure which was $5 more than the normal cost since I wanted gel as opposed to normal polish. Becca was very kind but she did not do well on my nails, granted she had only been there about 4 months. I left there with a manicure that I could have, and should have, done from home. I give myself gel manicures often and I have done much better on myself for free. The edges are messy, there are specs of dirt IN the polish, and you can't tell from the photo, but there was so much polish used that it looks like a bubble of paint plopped on my nails. My husband and I each booked a message. The hot tub and sauna were free with service which is a nice extra. The hot tub is large and outside and you get it for 30 mins. The sauna is private also 30 mins. The massage was fine. A couple things were different from other spa experiences I have had: they don't have a changing room or relaxation area. They have lockers next to two bathrooms for changing and the bathrooms had old towels piled in them. They had one small water dispenser and one tea dispenser with 10 oz styrofoam coffee cups for tea and water. Water was never brought to us we had to keep going back to the locker area and refilling our tiny cups. This was the only time I had a massage where the therapist was not waiting outside with water and instructions or personal suggestions. Instead, she just left and I had to find my way back to the locker room and get water. I know this sounds picky and it was a decent experience all together but it was the same price I have paid at other places while receiving additional attention. read more

We stayed in the Crescent hotel for our elopement and used the New Moon Salon for me and my best friend to get our hair done. (I wish I remembered her name because she was so awesome but I'm bad with names) The stylist took one brief look at inspo pictures and gave us exactly what we wanted while also being super fun to talk to and supportive of our process in getting ready. Getting married can be stressful even when eloping but knowing I had my hair exactly as I'd always dreamed made my day feel less hectic. I was greeted with a friendly smile and a cup of flavorful tea. My massage therapist was Ang, and she was nothing short of fantastic. I needed like another hour with her. I appreciated that they were able to accommodate me a couple hours after I called to make an appointment. I really didn't expect them to have any openings. The venue is nothing fancy. There were no robes or slippers or anything like that, but the treatment room was clean and quiet. The only thing I regret is not getting in the hot tub after my treatment, but it was a little cold and rainy outside, and not the ideal weather for it. This review is very close to a 5, and the only reason it isn't, is because the setting was much simpler and didn't have as many amenities as some other spas of the same caliber and cost. We had a superb couples massage here on our last trip up to our cabin in Eureka Springs. The infrared sauna was particularly pleasant, and the sauna area was spotless. The spa is an Aveda concept spa so they have all natural products which is always a plus. They are a bit on the pricey side compared to Other providers in the area.I had the 90 minute massage with Rebecca and she was very skilled. The tipping is a little confusing as it is added automatically. I always tip 20% for a good massage but they also added on a tip for the hostess who simply checked us in and gave us forms to fill out. In my opinion, tipping the front desk is overboard and in bad taste. The spa probably needs to pay their front desk more. They certainly charge enough for their services. read more

My girlfriend and I came from St. Louis for a girls spa weekend. We scheduled the sauna, hot tub, body treatment, massage, and a facial. When we were escorted to the sauna, the girl didn't ask any questions or tell us how long we could stay in or how we would know if our time was up. She mentioned there was water in there but no water was left for us. So we stayed in there for about 20 min and exited. We wandered out... looking lost, and waited for a bit.. till someone finally came to us and took us to the hot tub. We asked for water and got a paper cup of water. Again, in the hot tub there was no timer and we just stayed in until it shut off... wandered in the spa, asking for water and the girl told us there was tea and pointed to the table. Again, no one approached us telling us what to do, so we sat outside with our tea for awhile. We then walked in and asked what we should do next we we're told we could go back into the hot tub but wasn't given any real time directions. We opted to just wait and relax since we were dried off. The body treatment and massage was incredible and relaxing. One of the better ones I have ever received. At the end we asked what was used because I was interested in purchasing but neither of our girls gave us any direction on what they used & how/when to use. We just took pictures of some of the products on the table. As we waited for our facial, we looked at all the spa products available to buy. We asked the girls behind the counter what was used in our stress fix massage and they were clueless. At no time as we were looking at the products did anyone to us and ask if we needed assistance in explaining the products. When it was time for our facial, our girls came to get us. My girl talked about the various peels and allowed me to choose and talked about the process before she began. My friend's girl didn't explain the process. When we compared notes & I was talking about the warmth and heat of the plant peel, my gf said she never got than cause she felt no heat at all. She said hers was more of a face and neck massage and cleansing of her face. We purchased the same service. (Skin rejuvenation facial) At the end I asked my girl what she used, what I should be using on 56yr old skin and what Aveda products would be good. She couldn't tell me and just suggested a vitamin C serum. No specific serum. I found that odd. I also asked her what was the fragrance or drops that was used in the hot towels cause they smell amazing and wanted to get it. Again she said she didn't know. Both our girls exited the room and we were left to wander and find our way out. The experience was supposed to include 60 mins, which I don't feel it was 60 min. More like 45 and we were to get a moisturizer, eye cream and lip cream. My gf said she never got anything on her lips or the warm peel. I asked my girl about what moisturizer and cleanser she used because I wanted to purchase it. But she never told me. After we wandered the halls to find our way out, we got dressed and went to the lobby area where all the products were. No one approached us to assisted us nor wanted to answer questions. They sat behind the desk and talked. We asked several product questions and all 3 girls could not answer one question about the products they were selling. I find that so odd. I've had facials and massages at other places were people were helpful and educated about the process & the products. Being in sales and in the beauty industry in the past I found it uneasy that no one person or even those giving the treatment could give any help or details nor wanted to upsell. In the end our receipt did not detail the services or any recommendations from any of the girls providing the services. Again, I found that odd. We spent almost 500$ each... a total of $1000 and I would have expected the red carpet treatment as I have received in other spas. The price didn't match the level of total service or treatment. It was not the "pampering treatment" I expected for the price. read more

I just had a massage with Tina and a facial with Stefani and couldn't rave more about both. I've gone to spas all over the world and can honestly say that today is at the top of my list. I came in with tension beyond belief from working 12 hour days and skin that felt like sandpaper and left completely relaxed with dewy skin. The staff was polite, but the spa did not meet expectations. There were three of us in our group and we all got massages from different therapists. All of us were underwhelmed by the quality of the massages. One of the massage therapists pushed down on the throat of my friend, which none of us have ever experienced in a massage before so that was odd. The restroom was very messy and needed attention. Used wash cloths were lying in the shower, piles of dirty towels were strewn about, and there was no toilet paper. The hot tub was not hot. We had to walk through the lobby and stand there in our robes to get to the hot tub, which was uncomfortable with other customers who were fully clothed milling about in the lobby area. Okay I'm about to be a total "Karen" right now, but idgaf....this needs to be voiced! I traveled four hours just to visit this spa in Eureka Springs for my birthday as it was highly recommended. In my experience there were lots of positives and only one negative, but a big negative that warrants next to zero stars. The positives: My Chakra massage from Sally was amazing!!! She is a highly skilled therapist and is fantastic at what she does. She intuitively understood exactly what my body needed and on top of that, she was personable and friendly which made my experience that much more enjoyable. I got off her table feeling completely refreshed and balanced. Thank you Sally if you're reading this, I am grateful for your lovely disposition and feel fortunate to have had you work on me. You made my birthday a special one. On the flip: After my massage I wanted to refresh my make up at their makeup station which was a mini shop open to the public. I was planning on purchasing a bare minerals stick once I got the right color match, however, the associate came over to me, took the tester from my hand, and refused to let me even touch it because of "Covid" reasons. Instead, she insisted on making the tester for me (with no gloves), handed me a sponge (with no gloves) and expected me to use the product she put her hands on, on my face. She said it's more sanitary that way. Excuse me? I'm sorry, does the virus know who's the associate and who's the patron???? What difference does it make whether I hold the item or she holds it after both of our hands had already touched it at this point. Then she stood there next to me 1 foot away (not 6 feet apart...what happened to being sanitary?) and watched me apply it on my skin. The whole thing was absolutely ridiculous and honesty it felt like the bad vibes were rooted in prejudices. Especially because I saw other guests using testers without any "supervision". When I expressed my concerns with the MOD: Kimberly, she could have cared even less; she was insensitive with her response, did not acknowledge my concern, and her disposition was overall a bit "snobbish". I can't even believe they leave a woman like her in charge of guest experience. But their loss, they lost a sale, a good review, and a returning guest... I otherwise had an AMAZING birthday. It wasn't until I came across these two rude muppets that my day became sour. The way they handled the situation could have been executed with more professionalism and class. I love Arkansas and I would love to come back, but I can only hope I don't encounter that kind of racism again. read more

For me I like deep tissue and there has only been one other time that the deep tissue didn't feel so much like a beat down. I need to start by saying I don't frequent these establishments, i.e. nail salons. But since my wife and I share a bank account, I need to comment. It's Aveda so it runs a little more expensive than other shops. No problem there if it the quality is better or even on par with your average nail place, but her nails as well as the other 4 women's nails, all chipped and "bubbled" within hours of the application. The bride-to-be was fortunate to have time to have hers redone. If you are looking for a good spend of your cash, consider somewhere else. read more

My husband and I signed up for a couples massage during Thanksgiving. Hoping to really get some stress out and relax while on break. We had never been to Eureka Springs, AK so be forewarned DO NOT rely on GPS to find this place. We had a little trouble and were running 3 minutes late for our appointment. Didn't really impact my attitude as I was looking forward to a little R&R. I could tell the staff were a little miffed when we arrived, but they handled it professionally. The hotel spa itself is nice and they have quite a wide variety of items for sale. It is situated downstairs in a wonderful old hotel and the staff are friendly enough without being disingenuous. Let me preface the following review by saying I have had quite a few massages in my lifetime all over the world from high end spas to physical therapy medical massages. I am not sure if it's the lack of experience or lack of effort probably a combination. It could also be the majority of the clientele don't want to have a therapist really get into the muscles. It felt like an end of the day lazy rub down that was more just glossing over the skin than actually figuring out what muscle groups needed work. A truly good massage therapist's hands have the gift of healing and when you find one that knows what they are doing they are worth their weight in gold. I get that they aren't familiar with my body as that takes time and developing a relationship with the therapist over many months going over your specific issues. I guess I just hoped that the standards of training when you work on the human body naturally dictate better communication with the client and therefore ability to apply learned technique. I doubt if she could even really find where to work on me let alone what to do when she found an issue. My husband shared my sentiment about his therapist so maybe it really isn't just the lack of effort, but really a lack of knowledge and or experience. If you are just looking for a gentle rub down with pleasant smelling lotions that really don't do anything to relax the muscles than this is perfect for you. I just hope they can get the peaceful music to play continuously throughout your massage and not have to leave in the middle of your massage to check on the music. Me thinks the staff need a little more training or experience and a better sound system set up. It's too bad because the hotel & spa are quite lovely and the location is very nice. read more

Massage was great and very relaxing, but the clerk did not give us robes or flip flops so they had to run out to get them for us. My experience here was amazing. I loved the fact that it was Aveda based. The spa offers a lot of products to buy as well as a good array of services. I chose the foot and scalp massage. Holy cow, it was worth every penny and more. The lady that gave me the massage was named Stormy. Please request her. Her reflexology massage is on par with how it should be done. What a wonderful experience! New Moon's atmosphere is relaxing and soothing (as any good spa is), but beyond the beautiful environment, the friendliness, professionalism, attentiveness, and exceptional skill of the staff make this place top notch. Thanks to Beth (deluxe pedicure) and Sarah E. (haircut), I have officially emerged from my covid cocoon and feel like a new woman! Beth worked wonders on my feet and legs (I'm now a devoted fan of Eco-fin), and the entire experience with her was just BLISS! I also love the view from the pedicure station, and I very much appreciate the adjustable massage chairs (sometimes short folks like m'self have to streeeetch to be worked on but not at New Moon). Sarah really listened to what I wanted in my hair cut and style, and I am absolutely delighted with the results. Hair cuts can be anxiety invoking but not with Sarah-- being in her chair was FUN! We didn't use the spa (thank goodness after the way we were treated out front!) My review is the out front area where they sell makeup & body products. We weren't greeted at all when we walked in the store & looked around. When we finally asked for help the girl rudely corrected me on what I was asking for. Both terms were correct. Then they yelled at me twice for looking at certain products. I walked out after that. While the service staff was kind and services were pretty good, I would not recommend this spa. Each time we visited (which was three days in a row), the administrative staff was receiving a complaint. The answer to everything that we asked was "no." You definitely got the impression that they were not willing to work to accommodate their customers in any way. They lost my sisters reservation and issued a non-genuine apology without any further attempt to rectify the issue. It is clear that they have a monopoly in the area-they do not care to go "above and beyond" in any way. Good Aveda products for some services, but standard products in the bathrooms. However, you could not even use the shower unless you pre-booked the shower. The sauna was made for two people and it's tight at that. I asked to sit in one of the rooms that was open, but the staff told me they were using it to set up for a garage sale, so I couldn't use it. It left a lot to be desired. Spend your time exploring the hotel instead. read more

What a disappointment. -initially when our bridal party entered the salon, there was confusion about appointment times. The receptionist had a hard time checking in a party of five. -due to understaffing we were unable to get any add on services, namely a pedicure for one bridesmaid wearing open toed shoes. -in a desperate attempt to match her shoes, this bridesmaid helped herself to the special color and began to paint her own toes. The managers response to this was extremely abrasive, taking the polish away angrily. Another bridesmaid went after the manager to beg for some solution. It turns out they can sell us a bottle to paint our own toes, but it took serious coaxing to get this information. -services for the bride needed to be redone due to bubbling in the polish, putting us off a very tight schedule -after services were complete the receptionist had difficulty producing a single bill for the entire party. Her attitude suggested that the bride should have known to tell her earlier. These complications put us another twenty minutes behind. All in all, it's a terrible salon in a cool hotel and that's why they are still in business, but I'd book somewhere else. read more

Very pleasant friendly staff. They were able to accommodate a group of 5 for weekday manicures, which was appreciated. They showed us to the "relaxation room" with couches and low lighting and offered us water, coffee and tea while we waited for our appointments. We were offered beverages again once we got settled at the nail tables and were given lavender compresses for our shoulders. The manicurists were very friendly and talkative. The hand massage with all Aveda products was very nice. Could have done a better job with shaping nails. My manicure looked great, but unfortunately chipped within just a few days and was too chipped to keep on by the 7 day mark.
