From Yogi I wasn't…read morealways this proud 150-pound brindle Akita you see today. I was a scared, reactive dog when my human found me. I'd been abused, and later, after finally finding a safe home, someone broke in... and I was beaten again. I don't trust easily. I bark when I feel unsafe. I protect my space fiercely. I need distance from other dogs--not because I don't care, but because I care too deeply and don't know how to show it safely. But my human understood. They walk me on a 6' lead, often shortened to 2'. They sit on the ground beside me when I'm overwhelmed. They give me time, space, and safety to choose connection. That's how I learned how to say: "If I turn sideways and offer my shoulders or my butt... you can touch me." It's not much, but it's my way of saying "I trust you." And Justine listened. On October 4, 2023, Justine became my personal walker once a week. My human told her the truth--every challenge, every warning. She had every reason to walk away. But she didn't. She stayed. She followed my signals. She gave me 15 minutes. Now we do 30-minute walks once a week. She must really love me. Then, on January 2, 2024, I met Laura--and fate stepped in again. I didn't know she worked with Justine. Now I have two amazing humans who take me out twice a week. They get me. They give me time. And I give them my trust. To the anxious pups, the misunderstood cats, the shy reptiles, the quiet rodents hiding under blankets: You are NOT broken You are NOT too much You just need the right people who will wait for you to feel safe I'm Yogi. I'm a 150-pound Protection Fluff with a gentle heart and a rough past. I don't take love lightly--but once I give it, it's forever. Sloppy kisses and steady eyes, --Yogi From Yogi's Human: Yogi came into my life with scars--some I could see, many I couldn't. And while I helped him find safety... he helped me survive too. Watching him grow from panic to patience, from tension to trust, has been the most powerful journey of my life. We have good days, tough ones, and breakthroughs. But we keep going. To Justine and Laura--thank you for stepping into our lives. You didn't just help my dog. You made it possible for me to breathe a little easier too. To everyone walking a reactive pet journey: Progress isn't linear. Love is a process. I was fooled into thinking this place was professional. The pre visit to the kennel showed a nice…read moreoffice and large kennel with play grounds for dogs. Although the place looks nice the staff are very unprofessional My dog stayed here and within 3 hours sustained a injury and lacerations or puncture wounds to her back legs and chin. The staff made one phone call to myself and wifes cell with no voicemail while we were away on our vacation within Ontario. Although they took her to the Vet to get stapled, the staff made no attempts after to contact us to inform us of anything.. We finally found out after calling Redwood on our drive home 2 days later asking if they would stay open an extra 10 minutes after closing due to traffic. Only then the staff alerted us of her injuries and on top of that they wouldn't even stay open so we can get her. We had to have a sleepless night waiting until the next morning to pick her up. Our dog stayed in a 4 feet x 5 feet cage for two nights with injuries without us knowing. Picking her up was a nightmare. I had been asked to pay all bills even vet bills before I was 'Allowed" to see her or take her home. on top of that I was to be "given a opportunity" to see her injuries through a glass window. After debating and arguing with an incompetent staff they finally let me have her. Some follow up was made by the owner only after 2 days of picking her up as they were away for a dog show and were'nt available to deal with this. Even with the follow up no answers were given and we are still wondering what happened and why no contact was made and why our dog would need to be confined in a cage with injuries. Also my brothers number who is local, was provided in case something happened. He was not contacted at all. Only one follow up call was made to me after the initial discussion with the owner to see how my dog was doing. Although fees were waved the staff was very unprofessional. I have not contacted them regarding my vet bills either.

They gave her a private run where she wasn't with other dogs, as we we requested. (My dog was .. ah.. rather selective about her canine companionship.) It got to the point where my dog was happy to go with the employees when we dropped her off, and she never even looked back at us as we left. That is a sign of how comfortable she was at Redwood, and that's enough for me to give this place five stars.
